That was a very interesting 1st round match at Memphis and a good win for Korolev against Ginepri. The difference was the better conversion of 2nd serve points from Korolev. Hopefully he can go deep in this tournament.

This is the 2nd win for Korolev over Ginepri this year, he also won against him earlier in Syndey. It was somewhat awkward for Ginepri to face Korolev in the 1st round, if I am not mistaken he has not played since the AO.

out of the americans, ginepri seems the most down to earth, imo, id prefer to see fish lose, lol, ginepri had no bp's in 3rd set...

Haase, Korolev won today, tomorrow its Del Potro's turn, and in challengers Eysseric won and cilic plays tomorrow.. good day for the youngsters hope del potro wins tomorrow...

Korolev was called the Rich Mans Kafelnikov not the Poor Mans Kafelnikov.

Ginepri losing is always good.

So far he has not been playing every week, even though that could change if he starts socializing more with the other Russians
He has also decent power from both wings, I think that he can win bandwagon player's award this year if he stays healthy.

hes going to up against del potro for that award, who imo will brake top 50 and maybe even top 30...

Korolev should win a monthly one, but del Potro already is looking good for the yearly award.

Total points won Korolev 102. Ginepri 97.

The better player won. It was very even until the 3rd set but Korolev was clearly the better player at the deciding set, where he didn't face a single break point.

Agree, I think RMK will take longer to develop than del Potro. On the other hand with his style he may score a victory against a top player, in which case his "fans" will grow very fast.

Davydenko was called Poor Man's Kafelnikov because he resembled a poorer version of Kafel.

Korolev has a chance to be a rich version.

I don't know how is Kafel doing in poker lately, maybe both Davydenko and Korolev are richer as for financial cases already :)

It would be quite something if he won his first title here given that the event is called the Region Morgan Keegan Championships
