Any thoughts about the match? Anyone who saw it?

Thanks

Acasuso was playing well in the first set, but Roitman was fighting to keep up with that level of play. Roitman won a couple of key points and won the first set. After that, Chucho was very mad at himself and started playing poorly while Roitman gained confidence and played much better.

This is the biggest win for Roitman, in his whole career.

It was a good match.

Roitman played great, and Chucho kind of melted after the first set.

Congrats Roitman! Great win!!!

Chucho can win never win first up after a break and thanks for the review of the match Willy. The good thing for Chucho is in this shit format he has another match.

Congrats Roitman on the win and hopefully he can consolidate his form from last season.

Do you know what did that guy shout during the second set? I couldn't hear him.

Roitman plays well, but always seem to get injured when he's about to make a big upset. Maybe this one was the first without an injury.

and thanks to RR, Roitman could lose next, be screwed over, while Chucho possibly advances

Roitman was great with his serve, and very solid with both his forehand and backhand. Getting everything back, but also playing an agressive game.

He will jump high in the rankings.... talk about late bloomers.

He was very happy after the win, against Chucho and in the main court of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.

He should have made Viña's final if that bizarre injury hadn't made him retire against Massu.

For sure and he had Albert Costa on the ropes at RG 2003.

Now Roitman has to beat soy Diego Hartfield and then he will go through to the quarter finals.

Acasuso can still qualify but he needs a better set and game ratio than the other two, right? So he needs to beat Hartfield in straight sets and lose less than 7 games, right?

He also needs Hartfield to beat Roitman in straight sets, but even then it's delicately balanced. If the score is 7-6 7-6 then Roitman goes through. 6-0 6-0 then Hartfield goes through. 6-3 6-4 then Acasuso can go through.

RR at its finest. ;)

fantastic match by Roitman... his match in Viña vs Massu wasnt a one match wonder... he plays fantastic, he hits hard and he was too solid today for a rusty chucho

Rotiman played well, but acasuso was missing to many easy balls he would hit a good approach get a short ball return and hitting it, he definetly had too many UE, but Roitman too k advantage of that so good for him..

that was one of the saddest moments ever,

2 sets and 1 break up against the reigning champion and being forced to play at half service. Still he fought and got a few games

He had a lot of difficulties early in his career and it's good to see that he is getting some good results and yes that was a difficult match for a few reasons.

I saw the match on the court in live. I was almost the only supporting Sergio in the whole court, I went home without voice cause shouting almost every point to Roitman. Well done Sergio you deserve it.

On the match I can say first set was very close as chucho and Sergio were both playing very good. Sergio had the advantage because he was playing some excellent parallel backhands.
In the second set he made a few shots that made the whole Stadium stand up and give an applause, it was tremendous.
When the match finished and the Tv made him an interview he was almost crying for the emotion. He is one of hard working men on the Atp.

Sergio "Escopeta" Roitman :yeah:

Anyone knows the reason he wears those weird shirts? I saw a match of his against Massu in Chile and he was playing with a white t-shirt that had the drawing of a cow on it. :D

Cool shirts, well Argentina is famous for its beef, so maybe it has something to do with that.

It's good to see him doing well.

I talked with him about his shirts.
He has a cow, a "poncho", a "mate", and beef. All in different T-shirts.
He uses them in representation to Argentina`s tradition.

Today I watched him playing doubles with M.Gnzalez against Frystenberg/Matkowski, it was a very close match indeed.

Ferrero pointed out the heat, Moya, Gaudio and Canas as his main opponents for the title in Costa do Sauipe. Roitman, who would face him in R1, said: "What about Roitman? Doesn't he consider him as a favourite? No? Well, I think his worries about the heat may come to an end tomorrow, because he will be able to watch the second round very comfortably in his hotel, enjoying the air conditioner."
