Il 2008 di Flavio Cipolla è già iniziato. Nel bel mezzo dell'Oceano Pacifico, nell'arcipelago della Nuova Caledonia, il romano romperà il ghiaccio con la nuova stagione e prenderà parte al challenger da 75 mila dollari di Noumea. Cipolla ha obiettivi ambiziosi, è tempo di fare il salto di qualità. "Da metà novembre - spiega - abbiamo fatto una intensa preparazione fisica e ho curato molto la parte tecnica sui campi veloci di Casal Palocco, a Roma, insieme a Simone Bolelli. Con mio padre (il suo allenatore) abbiamo fatto una preparazione mirata sul servizio e la tecnica".
Che tipo di obiettivi si è posto per questa nuova stagione?
"Il primo è di entrare nei top 100. Spero di far bene nella parte di stagione sul veloce. Ora penso di essere molto più competitivo e di essere migliorato molto anche nel servizio. Un Atp? Puntare alla vittoria è forse prematuro, potrebbe non essere ancora nelle mie corde, ma se dovessi averne la possibilità ci proverò".
Quali saranno i primi appuntamenti del suo 2008?
"Dopo il 75 mila di Noumea mi trasferirò a Sydney e a Melbourne, per le quali degli Australian Open".
Che cosa le rimane della stagione che sta per lasciarci?
"Parigi è stato certamente il momento più bello, il miglior risultato di sempre in uno Slam (secondo turno dopo aver superato le qualificazioni, sconfitto da Nadal, ndr). Un'esperienza indimenticabile. E' stata una stagione positiva ed importante, per risultati ed esperienze. Negli ultimi mesi ho vinto due challenger e mi sarei anche potuto avvicinare di più ai 100".

Flavio will start the season in Noumea and is really focus on next season :cool: He trained in Rome with Bolelli and worked a lot on his serve (finally :lol:).His goals are reach the top100 and reach good results in this first part of the season :) He says is still not ready to win an ATP event but will try :rocker2:

Good that he worked on his serve :lol: It's definitely his biggest weakness :p

well, Flavio played well, played his characteristic tennis with dropshots, stopvolleis,s&vs, good forehands and awesome passing shots! At the beginnign of the first he was also a break up....
the problem is only one: simply Olivier played better the important points of the match :sad:, especially hitting very hard during the crucial times, often closing the point with powerfull smashes

I was a bit disappointed but Patience played better and deserved the match :yeah:

I must say it was a truly horrible match. I have no clue what Souza was doing on court, and he didn't seem to have a clue himself either. He just whacks the ball completely brainlessly. Hit a gazillion double faults, and some of the worst UEs I have ever seen. Plenty of them landed well behind any existing lines on the court. Flavio just tried to block most power shots by slicing, and mixed it up with some smart play. But it was self-destruction from Souza that determined the scoreline, really.

Tomorrow against Mirnyi, which will be difficult. But I will be there to support again :p

Missed the first set, but saw the other two. Snobel was just too good. Played very good tennis and Flavio couldn't handle the windy conditions at all.
