Hewitt can count himself very lucky to have barely be still in the Top-20, after his 2nd Rd loss at Marseille & points coming off from his finals appearance at San Jose last year it looked certain that Hewitt would fall outside of the Top-20 for the 1st time since January 2000:sad:
...
However thanks to some kind of miracle he`s still there [just ahead of Tursunov, who actually has the same points]...
...
Hopefully a good performance at Rotterdam this week will see Hewitt slowly climbing part way up the big mountain;)

I don't know how it works when there's a tie - is it just based on who has less points being counted on from their optionals or what?

Yeah I`m not sure how Hewitt managed to stay above Tursunov either:confused:

Maybe due to Hewitt`s superior Slam results;)

Anyway if anyone knows the rule I`d be interested to know:cool:

From the ATP site

Q. What happens if two or more players are tied?
http://www.atptennis.com/5/graphics/999999.gif A. When two or more players have the same total number of points, ties shall be broken as follows:

(i) the most total points from the Grand Slams, ATP Masters Series Tournaments and Tennis Masters Cup, and if still tied, then,
(ii) the fewest events played, counting all missed Grand Slams, ATP Masters Series Tournaments and Tennis Masters Cup they could have played (as described under 1. above) as if played, and if still tied, then,
(iii) the highest number of points from one single Tournament, then, if needed, the second highest, and so on.

SO yeah I guess Hewitt has more points from TMS and Slams.

Go Hewitt! I hope he can gain a lot of points in the clay season...I dont expect him to win any tourneys there or even reach semi's/finals...but its easy points even if he reaches 2nd and 3rd rounds! :P
So I hope he prepares some buffer when he has his RG and Wimby points to defend.

I hope Hewitt can stay inside the top 20, it would be a shame if he couldnt.
