First time since Kitzbuhel 1989 that brothers have cleaned up the singles and doubles titles at an event.

At that time it was Emilio Sanchez winning the singles, and then teamed up with Javier Sanchez to win the doubles.

A good day for the Murray household.

Great job for the boys, it's Jamie's first ATP title (the last one he won was at last week's Dallas Challenger).

Pretty impressive showing by Jamie and Eric B. They've teamed up three times and reached the finals on all those occasions. They won two of those finals but lost the one to the Bryan bros last year.

good win for the forgotten murray - He is building himself quite a nice little doubles career

Surely now Jamie Murray should be called up to the Davis cup squad? He is now approaching the top 50 in doubles. If Henman gets back fit, we could have a decent little Davis cup team. Problem is, if Murray gets injured or Henman doesn't get back, we will have to rely on Bogdanovic.:retard:

Two straight titles for Butorac/Murray! :rocker2:

I watched this last night thanks to TTC:yeah: I was pretty impressed by this young doubles team. Andy came at one point to watch Jaime and when the latter put a return into the net on a breakpoint Andy's face was  Too funny.

Really pleased for Jamie - it can't be that easy being the brother of a higher profile player, but Jamie has handled it well and has got himself a very nice career of his own and seems to have found a partnership that works. Hopefully him and Butorac will have more success.

Well done Jamie and Booty. :yeah:

Jamie Murray? He's nowhere near that high. I don't even think he plays singles anymore. He's got to be about 1110 in the world or something. He's just a total doubles player now.

Great win for Murray and Booty

Unfortunately Booty is not that young

Great win for Jamie and Eric :yeah:

...but I just don't rate Jamie as a player at all...he looks very ordinary to me  We're still fucked for DC doubles...I am absolutely 100% against having Murray bros playing together (doesn't lessen the load of our main singles player and they never seem to play well together) and Jamie doesn't partner Jimmy Auckland, so they haven't had the chance to gel. Those two could be pretty compatible (left and right) and if they actually gave a possible doubles relationship a chance, we could have a world class doubles pairing.

:spit: Add an extra zero to the end. He doesn't play ;)

We have a real problem in that there is pretty much no-one behind our top guys...some of the others are turnin to doubles now and abandoning singles (e.g. Delgado and Auckland). Other than Bogo ( ), Bloomers, Goodall, Mackin, Marray and Baker...who is there? :help:

I think in fact Wayne & Byron Black achieved the feat mentioned earlier, in 1999 so they would be the most recent?

Very pleased for Muzza II and Booty, but can't help wondering if their left-handness plays a large part in this - it must be a factor that helps, as there are very few if any other L handed pairings in the top doubles flight. Jamie moves up to #53, while Eric is #51 this week (both career highs).

checked and he is 10?? so at least he has a singles ranking, lol. The highest he ever got was 800...

was he just never that good? does he still have any potential for singles, just wondering lol, he is only 20 so...

I really don't think he is that good at either...but credit to him for making the most of his ability. Nevertheless, he won't be able to compete with a remotely recent Davis Cup doubles opposition.

I can't find any evidence that the Black brothers did it at the same tournament in 99.

I think it was mentioned during the match on Eurosport, they brought it up in a stat box

I've been checking through Byron Black's titles and I can't see anything.

Byron Black only won 2 singles titles and at neither event did he also win the doubles title.

Byron won Chennai in 99 and his brother got to the doubles final with Godwin, but they lost to Paes/Bhupathi

Maybe on Eurosport they were saying that was the closest anyone had come since 89?

Chennai 99 rings a bell.....did Cara possibly win singles or something?

The Blacks were the last brothers to be in the finals of both the doubles and singles of an event - but they only won one of the finals.

He used to be the number 2 junior in the world, then there were some problems with the LTA school in Cambridge he attended. You could check out the gist of the story here (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2005/11/28/utmurr28.xml) and here (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2005/11/30/stmurr30.xml). The articles are rather old but they'll give you the idea of what caused him to specialise in doubles.

That's too bad. I suppose he doesn't want to grind it out in singles when he's already living the life in maindraw doubles. He and Booty play awesome together, two lefties :)

I had some nice photos of them playing last summer in LA, but the external hard drive where I keep them isn't working :(
