Spadea played a good second set, especially the breaker where he was en fuego, but he seemed to forget he had a third set to win, and went to sleep again :)

:help: :tape: what an awful match. Andy seemed to have a stick up his butt the whole match.... was reminiscent of the match he lost to spadea in 2004 where he was up a set and a break and had BPs to go up 2 breaks and ended up losing.

Was good that he calmed down in the third though.

That said, something was wrong with his back, at least early on, and he came out awfully flat and in a really bad mood. So, Murray 2 and 2 tomorrow based on that form

Hmmm. I wouldn't go that far, although I thought for parts of the match, Roddick seemed a bit passive, hanging back too much like he used to before he got Connorsed. He was better in the third, a big more aggressive, but then Spadea also started making many more errors.

doesnt he always :Dwell not in my opinion, so if I'm saying he did this time, i guess that means to you that he was even worse than always, eh? :pHmmm. After the doublefaults early on, I thought his back was going to be a problem but then he seemed to loosen up a bit on his serve til he went on a mental walkabout for the 2nd half of the set. It was definitely not a good performance from him in my opinion.

I still don't get tired of seeing those great down the line backhands, though. :)

Ah well, the win's the win - it doesn't have to be perfect. I wasn't thrilled with aspects of Murray's performance in R2 and I'm hoping for better tonight.

When has this concern with his back come on? Just today or has been carrying it this week....?

When has this concern with his back come on? Just today or has been carrying it this week....?I haven't seen his first two matches, so I don't know, but early in the match he felt it a couple of times. he's played a fair amount of tennis, had a very long flight and jetlag to deal with (they said they all went from Munich to San Francisco nonstop   ), so it wouldn't be a shock if he had a muscle niggle here and there.

i'm assuming it's nothing serious, but when he should've won probably 6-3 6-2, playing that much more certainly won't help that's all.

I don't think his biggest problem tonight was his back, I think it was his mood/attitude, but because of that, I hope his back doesn't become a bigger issue, that's all i'm trying to say.

spadea seems to be playin well recently. maybe he has stopped thinking about his music career and is concentrating on tennis

I would pick Andy to beat this joker in straight sets, so I guess what people have been saying about his condintion above is why it didn't happen.

I thought Murray would beat him anyway. Will be a tough match :D
