Andre approaching 800th Career Win!!!

03-19-2004, 04:27 AM
If I am keeping track of things correctly, Andre's victory over Coria this evening was his 796th career win!

4 more to go!

Now one could argue that 800 is a completely meaningless number which only appears important because we use a base 10 numbering system. And one would be correct, lol! ;) But I'm happy about this milestone anyway, because not many players have reached 800 wins.

Here's how he stacks up against some of the greats:

Jimmy Connors 1222
Ivan Lendl 1070

John McEnroe 867
Stefan Edberg 806

Andre Agassi 796
Pete Sampras 762
Ilie Nastase 729
Boris Becker 713

Bjorn Borg 576
Mats Wilander 571

Of course its important! And impressive!

A VERY exciting accomplishment! Andre IS THE MAN!

he will make it 800 career wins in Miami! :)

I'd not be surprised if he wins it all and is the first Miami quadruple champion (can you say that in English?)

Andre is one measley point away from overtaking Martha Safin's No. 2 spot in the ATP rankings! :D

How many wins do you think Andre will reach? Do you think he will overtake Johnny Mac?

Found this on the atp site. Wow! I didn't know Andre was in such elite company. :worship: This is just the latest factoid we can use in all those Andre vs Pete arguments. ;)

Andre Agassi is attempting to capture his 800th career match victory on
Tuesday and become the sixth player in the Open Era (since 1968) to reach
that plateau: Player W-L

Jimmy Connors 1222-269
Ivan Lendl 1070-238
Guillermo Vilas 920-281
John McEnroe 867-192
Stefan Edberg 806-270 (last to reach 800 in September 1996)
Andre Agassi 799-244

Notice that Boris Becker and Pete Sampras aren't on the list. Heh.

He will overtake Edberg I'm sure.

He won't catch Mac this year because he doesn't play enough. So it depends whether he plays next year or not, and how well he does.... My guess is he will probably retire before he reaches that, but who knows, Andre is hard to predict sometimes.

Q do you think he will another slam?

03-30-2004, 06:10 PM
I don't consider it likely, but he's always a contender, especially on grass and hardcourt. I hope so!

I would love to see him win another US open or wimbly, I want to see him go out on top, he deserves it...

he was denied with his 800th career win by Calleri

03-31-2004, 01:33 AM
Calleri. Hate him. Must die. :fiery:

03-31-2004, 01:35 AM
Andre ! Don't worry, you'll get 800 very soon:D!!!

Andre can play as long as he wants. And if he wants to set some records...then why not. ;) I think he'll surpass JMac by the end of his career. And maybe even get into the 900 club. :eek!:
