Instead of his fans buying HIM shirts, he should buy all of us a shirt now. :rolls:

Just from the ATP profile and the AO info I found.

Novak had $965,525 before this week. Unless the exchange rate changes dramatically between now and the time they cut the checks, he'll be over $1M. (Murray just passed the million mark at Doha)

I wonder when and how they do get the prize checks.

Ah, thanks.

I guess it'd make sense for each of them to have a bank account so tournaments can deposit all the players' winnings at one go.

people , isn't this thread a bit , how can I say it , cheesy?
There are some unwritten rules in life like not discussing money situation of those around you, let alone those more successful in life . Is there a point here , anyway? Money is not happiness, money is power so we shouldn't celebrate it, thank you

:ras:

Prize money is just another measure of success. Golf uses prize money list like tennis uses a ranking list.

I just thought it was interesting it only took Novak a few months to almost double his career total.

There aren't too many posts in this thread, so it's not like anyone is obsessing over $$$$.

It's not about the actual money, it's just a measure.

As for me, if my denomination had monistaries, I would definetly become a monk. I'm not kidding.

Also Novak is the 4th youngest man since 1968 to make RG and Wimbledon SF in a career. Only Becker, Borg, and Nadal were younger.

Novak is the second youngest to make both SFs in one year. Nadal did it last year, he was just a week and a half older than Novak is now.

:yeah:

Umag will have to do.

I wish he would not go back to clay after Wimbledon, and start doing hard court events to get better prepared for the masters and USO... but... well... I have future years to hope for that.

Exactly. I said that a while ago.. He should be concentrating on hardcourt events leading up to the US Open instead. Hopefully, he'll gradually realise that

I realize that Umag is close to home... but it just makes no sense to go back to clay for one event.

Which reminds me that I really think Serbia should have a combined mens/womens event. I think it would do well.

He has some points to defend there, you know (especially after he let Bastad go, meaning he'll lose all Amersfoort points), and I guess he wants to go back and do it - especially after his unfortunate retirement from the previous Umag Finals. (Perhaps he's got a point to prove?) It shouldn't take a big physical toll on him, though.

As for a combined event, let's first see if the authorities here are capable of organizing ANY biggish event (knowing the people and the Serbian ways, I'll keep all my reasonable doubts :))

4 weeks is a long lay-off, and it's not that practical to go to any of the hard-court warm-ups. Washington would be too exhausting (hotness) and if he went to Indianapolis, that would be 2 months in America.

Plus the DC is on clay and there won't be much time for practice before that.

That's why I think Nole wants to play this before hard court season in US. Umag is a very fun place to play. ;)

I just think that lack of commitment to the summer hard courts is going to hurt him some day if he truly wants to be #1 in the world. It's a place where I think he could gain some points on Nadal if he tried.

Lee
07-08-2007, 03:25 AM
He's not going to catch Federer or Nadal in the ranking this year. So, I think he's better let his body adjust to the vigorous schedule of ATP. He probably anticipates to reach later rounds in all events.

Didn't both Federer and Nadal take a month off after Wimbledon last year?

jeahhh!

That's not going to be for a few years most likely, he has plenty of time to develop that focus on the hardcourts.

Like Lee said, Umag is a nice place to play. If you've seen the photos of the place, then you don't wonder why players like to go there. ;)

At long as he plays the big events in the summer on hardcourts, I'm not too concerned.
