I will go to bed now. Im tired. :wavey:
Good night TH and RF and whoever more might be around! :)

Diss, first big OUCH about your ankle and here's a *hug*.

second, I believe Pete thanks his wife after he won USO2002. He climbed all the way up to the stand to his wife. He gave lots of credit to Bridget. I remembered people made fun of him reading notes from Bridget during match for his inspiration (can't remember exactly for his lost in FO or Wimbly) and was so glad that he finally won another slam.

If I have time, I will get on to those tests. But I am also posting on another board now (one that I ignore for quite a while during AO) and there are lots of thread I want to read in GM, so it may take a while for me to get to LOTR. I'll try!

So you got Frodo as well? OK.... so that means the ATPworld Fellowship is now:

Frodo ( x 2 ): TH & Lee
Aragorn: Leo
Legolas ( x 2 ): Layla & Diss
Gandalf ( x 2 ): DP & Becca

What a strange fellowship it would be!....2 Ringbearers, 2 Legolas' and 2 Gandalfs and 1 Aragorn.... not too much variety yet! LOL

Morning everyone! :wavey:

:fiery: I'm royally fucked. The bombs just keep dropping and I can't even duck and cover anymore. My client called me today and moved the deadline by several days - on a text I haven't even gotten yet. Well, I got it now and I discovered it's TWICE as long as the previous one, and I thought that one was long. Now I basically have to do double the amount in half the time. Maybe I should just keel over now. http://websmileys.bei.t-online.de/div276.gif

So my brief return was fun while it lasted. I'll still try to drop by as much as I can, but it will take an inhuman effort to get this translation done in time. :(

And Olivier Rochus just lost to Ljubicic of all people.

Why I wonder?!?!

Well, that's not exactly true. I'm pretty sure Johansson mentioned his pretty finacee in his speach. And Costa definitely thanked his wife and lovely twins at RG. And I might be wrong but I think Hewitt mentioned Kim briefly in Wimbledon. Don't know about Pete though, I wasn't watching, but I'd be surprised if he didn't give a nod to his wife. And that's just since I started following tennis religiously not that long ago.

Anyway, I like it when players acknowledge their loved ones in their victory speech and the role they play in their lives. :) I'll always be a romantic. :o

ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
As Albus Dumbledore, you are talented, intelligent, caring and a prominent leader. You have a full awareness of the distinction between right and wrong, and have a good and independant understanding of various moral issues. You are able to take leadership of a large group, and your conscientious and friendly nature makes you respectable to your peers.

TH, Dumbledore is a very, very good character. As the principal of Hogwarts, the school of magic Harry Potter attends, he's the wisest and kindest of them all. And the goodness of his heart knows no limits. :)

:) Morning all...

Feeling a bit of a zombie today... couldn't wake up and there's more snow [to shovel!]... still pretty cold here too... was about minus 30 yesterday.

Already they're announcing who's coming to Barcelona to play the Godo tournament [in April]: of course Juanqui, Moya, Costa, Corretja [his hometown -- never wins there though], and Hewitt, Safin, Nalby, Gonzalez, Chela, Canas, Srichaphan, Malisse, Schalken, El Aynaoui. I don't think Rogi plays that tournament -- too bad! I passed by the venue for that tournament by error while wandering around Barca. It's the Reial Club de Tenis -- members only, pls!! ;)

Hi Layla!

Nobody w love it more than I! I've been a fan of Alex for awhile now -- he may not be a top 10 player these days but he's a very smart player and a hard-worker. I just wish his impending fatherhood w inspire him to win more this year!

Finally, I can post here. My internet connection has been so lousy today, I could not post or load pages until now

So I got curious about the tests you've been taking. Took myself one, though the resut tells me nothing . Is that a LORT or something test?:

You are Aragorn

Also known variously as Strider, the Dunedan and Isildur's Heir, Aragorn son of Arathorn was a member of the Fellowship of the Ring, charged with the task of seeing the Ring and its bearer, Frodo Baggins, safely to the Crack of Doom. Following the War of the Ring, Aragorn took his rightful place as King.

Am I completely hopeless?

Lee

France will come out on top of Romania.

Difficult to predict the Dutch and the Swiss and I think it really depends on how good Rogi will play. But I think the Dutch is better in double so the other Swiss player (probably Michel) need to win one match.

Sorry Emma! Can't imagine GB come out with one match unless an Aussie retire.

I will definitely cheer for Brazil but Guga has to win all his single and double.....

Even Goran is injuried, there is still hope in Croatia but need a little bit help from above.

Spain and Belgium, probably Spain will win. Better luck next time in the draw, Belgium.

Argentina vs Germany and Russia vs Czech. Good luck to Russia.

Some nations have elected to announce their squads for the upcoming Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round ties ahead of the deadline for official nominations on Tuesday 28 January.

Daviscup.com will carry the official nominations on Tuesday, but below are the announcements as made by the respective national federations. Under Davis Cup rules, any of these nominations may be changed until Tuesday; and once the ITF has received the officially nominated team ten days before the tie (Tuesday), up to two of those nominations may be changed up until one hour before the draw on the eve of the tie.

Australia vs Great Britain

Tennis Australia have named a strong squad of Lleyton Hewitt, Mark Philippoussis, Todd Woodbridge and Wayne Arthurs. Hewitt and Philippoussis are likely to play singles, Woodbridge and Arthurs doubles. Hitting partners will be Scott Draper and Western Australia's Jaymon Crabb.

The Australians will be hot favourites after Great Britain's LTA announced a squad missing Greg Rusedski and also Tim Henman, who has failed to recover from his shoulder operation. The team will be Arvind Parmar, Miles Maclagan, Alex Bogdanovic and Alan Mackin, while David Brewer and Guy Thomas, who have been playing in the Australian Open juniors, will be attached to the squad in Sydney.

Sweden vs Brazil

Brazil have chosen 22-year-old Ricardo Mello to replace Fernando Meligeni. He has been selected along with Gustavo Kuerten, Andre Sa and Flavio Saretta.

Netherlands vs Switzerland

Captain Tjerk Bogstra announced that the Netherlands would welcome back Richard Krajicek to their squad, which also includes Sjeng Schalken, Raemon Sluiter and Paul Haarhuis. (Don't forget that we have an exclusive interview with Sjeng Schalken by David Law here on the site.)

Spain vs Belgium

Spain named Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya, Albert Costa and Alex Corretja in a strong-looking squad for the match against Belgium in Seville.

Czech Republic vs Russia

Russia have elected to name Marat Safin in their team even though he may not be fit in time for the tie due to a wrist injury sustained at the Australian Open. The hero of the 2002 Final, Mikhail Youzhny, has also been chosen, along with the yet-to-retire Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Nikolay Davydenko, the winner in Adelaide at the start of the year.

Further announcements will be posted here, and please check back on Tuesday for the full list of official team nominations. Please also check out the Ties section for information on all ties, including - where available - schedules, ticket information, TV schedules and squads.

So I'm just as confused :(:( and wondering who the US team is since it wasn't on that list . . .

I think they were to make the decision tonight. Ah, so here's the latest news:

Roddick left off U.S. Davis Cup team

NEW YORK (AP) -- With Andy Roddick sidelined by a wrist injury, James Blake and Mardy Fish will lead an inexperienced U.S. team against host Croatia in the first round of the Davis Cup on Feb. 7-9.

At 23, Blake is the veteran of the group. Fish and Taylor Dent are both 21, and Robby Ginepri is 20; that trio has played a combined total of one Davis Cup match, in doubles.

"A changing of the guard with our Davis Cup team is complete," nonplaying captain Patrick McEnroe said Tuesday. "This is an opportunity for our guys to step up, and it will make us a better team down the road. When Andy comes back, we will be stronger."

Roddick has severe tendinitis in his right wrist, which he landed on during his 4-hour, 59-minute Australian Open quarterfinal victory over Younes El Aynaoui. Doctors told him not to pick up a racket for at least a couple of weeks.

"He's very disappointed, but it's something he needs to take care of now, or it could be an ongoing problem for a long time," McEnroe said. "He's part of American tennis for now and the future. He just wasn't going to be able to be ready to play next weekend."

Blake and Roddick were a combined 12-0 in Davis Cup heading into last year's semifinal against France. But both Americans lost their opening singles matches and their team lost 3-2.

Fish teamed with Blake to beat Slovakia in doubles last February in the competition's first round. That's the sum total of Davis Cup experience for Fish, Dent and Ginepri.

McEnroe indicated he's leaning toward using Blake (career Davis Cup records of 4-1 in singles, 3-0 in doubles) and Fish in singles and doubles against Croatia.

The United States has won the Davis Cup a record 31 times, but the last title came in 1995.

Croatia's squad for the best-of-five series indoors at Zagreb will be 2001 Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic, Mario Ancic, Ivan Ljubicic and Lovro Zovko. ;)

Ivanisevic has been trying to get over shoulder problems.

"He could maybe get himself ready to play either singles or doubles. We're preparing for that," McEnroe said.

"We've got a tough match on our hands no matter what -- if Goran plays or not. It certainly didn't look like he was 100 percent healthy, from what I saw."

James could probably win at least one singles, and maybe the doubles match (he's always done well with the doubles matches :)). I don't know about Fish. Yeah, he's been playing great but he's never played a Davis Cup singles match, in a country where the crowd is going to pretty much hate him. I don't know if he can handle that.

Blue

You're blue — the most soothing shade of the spectrum. The color of a clear summer sky or a deep, reflective ocean, blue has traditionally symbolized trust, solitude, and loyalty. Most likely a thoughtful person who values spending some time on your own, you'd rather connect deeply with a few people than have a bunch of slight acquaintances. Luckily, making close friends isn't that hard, since people are naturally attracted to you — they're soothed by your calming presence. Cool and collected, you rarely overreact. Instead, you think things through before coming to a decision. That level-headed, thoughtful approach to life is patently blue — and patently you!

I got brown :o :o :o :o :o :o .... doesn't sound exciting at all.

Brown

You're brown, a credible, stable color that's reminiscent of fine wood, rich leather, and wistful melancholy. Most likely, you're a logical, practical person ruled more by your head than your heart. With your inquisitive mind and insatiable curiosity, you're probably a great problem solver. And you always gather all of the facts before coming to a timely, informed decision. Easily intrigued, you're constantly finding new ways to challenge your mind, whether it's by reading the newspaper, playing a trivia game, or composing a piece of music. Brown is an impartial, neutral color, which means you tend to see the difference between fact and opinion easily and are open to many points of view. Trustworthy and steady, you really are a brown at heart.

OK getting ready to pick Vince up and explain to his school's secretary about this embarassing phone call.

My cell phone was off until I went to Vince's TKD class last night and I had 2 messages from her on my cell phone. I listened to the messages, the first one she just asked me to call and the second one said she had a call from the phone number which left 15 minutes of kids' screaming. I checked the call log on my cell phone and it was Friday night. I forgot to lock the keypad of my cell phone and put it back to my purse. Vince's school phone was on my cell phone's phone book and somehow the phone called his school while we were eating in McDonald. :o :o

There are very few female characters in LOTR and if the test only takes into account the acctual 9 members of the Fellowship, then there are NO women at all.

And as far as males go, Aragorn is the best there is. :) So you should really be proud to bear his name. ;) He is a true hero.

What was Rusedski's reason/excuse for not playing DC?

It's basically fear of possible injury. He's been injured a long time, something to do with his foot. But he's playing a tournament prior to that, so he might be ok. But because he didn't want to let the team down  in case he wasn't ok, he just let them down a month before. I mean Timmy was actually injured when he played that tie against Thailand, but he played anyway, 3 matches. And he won single-handedly. It really fucked his shoulder up for the rest of the year and for this year's AO. While the mere thought of not being able to perform well scares Greg shitless. :p Now he basically doomed them. That and I've had it with his big mouth. I'm tired of defending him.

Gidget is not a fan of the Andy Roddick spike ("It looks a bit long. I think Andy could do with a trim"), likes the James Blake-Younes El Aynaoui dreadlocks ("It makes them more individual") and thinks the Juan Carlos Ferrero 'shag' works. sadly, i have to agree. even her fitness in 2002 was much better than her current shape. i saw some of her AO match against Chanda and honestly it was hard to watch b/c she couldn't run down any balls and her movement was horrible. and she doesn't look happy on the court.

Ooh, emode is of the devil! :o

Black

Your color is black. The color of night. Serene and mysterious, black conjures up images of elegant evening gowns, dashing tuxedos, and gleaming limousines. Traditionally a symbol of success, black also represents power and an uncompromising demand for perfection. Not surprisingly, you tend to set challenging goals for yourself and do whatever it takes to achieve them — your strength of character is second to none. This unfaltering determination, along with your natural elegance, impresses people. But keep in mind that your personality might be intimidating to some. Try to temper your demanding side with a little softness — trust us, it won't kill you. Overall, though, black is the color of professionalism and achievement, which means it's clearly the color for you.

14% emode members are Black
18% of the world is Black

LMAO at the "demanding side" -- I'm too meek to be demanding :o

I don't think Rogi plays that tournament -- too bad! I passed by the venue for that tournament by error while wandering around Barca. It's the Reial Club de Tenis -- members only, pls!! ;)

Yellow

You're yellow, the color of joy and energy — two things you definitely bring to everyone around you. It's hard for anyone to be sad or lonely in your presence; your sunny disposition and cheery outlook just won't allow it. The warmth of your personality shines through in the kindness you show friends and family (and strangers, too). Always ready with a lighthearted joke or heartfelt compliment, you know how to make people feel good about themselves, so they can't get enough of you. Yellow is a warm and inviting color for a warm and inviting person — you!

Im doing alright.
I guess Layla asked about my ankle earlier too, but I forgot to answer. :o sorry.
Theres something on my fibular ligments (sp?), on the outter side of my right ankle. I took some of those X-Rays stuff (lol at my complete lousy english at these times).
Ill have this thing on untill Thursday morning, when Im seeing the specialist. I got some movies to watch, and there are soccer and Milan Tennis coverage, so its all okay.

Yeah, Guga is a wonderful doubles player! You never seen him play? That match was the last one Jaime Oncins played for us. He was a wonderful doubles player as well.
Guga was devastated. :( He felt the pressure that one time. Hewitt played OUT OF THIS WORLD though. Cant take that away from him. That was the moment where I first looked at him as a clear shot for number one.

I have to say you get good coverage in Brasil! What station do you get down there? It's obviously NOT European nor American coverage... We are having great atp coverage, as usual. But NONE wta at all.
I wont complain, atp is my first choice by far. :D

I got Doha and Auckland already, and the Aussie Open.
Now Im getting Milan. Not one week without coverage.
Then these ones are scheduled:
5- Milan
6- DC tie
7- none
8- Rotterdam
9- Acapulco
10- none
11- Indian Wells TMS
12/13- Miami TMS
14- DC tie (if Brazil is in it)
15- Estoril
16- Monte Carlo TMS
17- none
18- none
19- Roma TMS
20- Hamburg TMS
21- none
22/23- Roland Garros
24- London Queens Club
25- none
26/27- Wimbledon

After this, we have the TMS and TMC scheduled, as well as the USOpen and the Lyon and Basel IS ones. But maybe they will pull some new ones later in the year. :)

Wow, I'm jealous, Diss  America's coverage will go something like this (ATP):

Davis Cup
final (maybe) of San Jose
Memphis (regional Fox affliate might have the final)
last two days of Scottsdale
TMS Indian Wells
TMS Miami
TMS Monte Carlo (half)
TMS Roma (half)
TMS Hamburg (half)
Roland Garros
Wimbledon
last two days of Newport (regional Fox affiliate)
last two days of Indianapolis (regional Fox affiliate)
last two days of Washington, D.C. (regional Fox affiliate)
last two das of Los Angeles (regional Fox affiliate)
TMS Canada
TMS Cincinnati
final of Long Island (regional Fox affiliate)
US Open
TMS Madrid (half)
TMS Paris (half)
Tennis Masters Cup

Regional Fox affiliate means that not everyone will get matches -- depends on their region of the country, obviously. I know we get the last few days of all of the California hardcourt season for the ladies, and for some strange reason their half of the Moscow tournament

I think finally there's a difference although it's pretty close. I can be Percy and there will be exact matches!

PROFESSOR FLITWICK
As Professor Flitwick, you are charming, compassionate, and have a passion to help those around you. Although timid, you make a good leader when the opportunity is right, and your friendly nature makes you highly respect among your peers. You have a wide understanding of moral issues, and you stand up for these views. However, be careful that your strong belief in pacifism doesn't cloud your judgement when appropriate action needs to be taken.

Ravenclaw
Being in the Ravenclaw house, you are likely to be loyal, intelligent and have a good understanding of ethical and political issues. Your studious nature partially takes priority over your adventurism.

Cat
Cats make an ideal pet for the academic and friendly, but also to those who prefer to stay within boundaries rather than be adventurous.

Now, I have never read Harry Potter OR seen the movies.

Just finished watching the Nucks against the Wilds. It was a very exciting game at the first 10 mins as my team scored twice. Then the Wilds played a great road game of slowing down the whole tempo and bored our defense to dooz off a little and let them back in the game. Even the OT was as boring  which is very unusual. But I was awake the whole time and watching  . Well, has to suck up as much hockey as possible before the mid-season break this weekend :D .

Your new home team Coyotes beat your ex-home team, so that makes you happy or sad? Probably sad as I don't think you are used to the idea of calling the Coyotes your home team yet. It's a hard habit to break, eh?

Reading all your Harry Porter profiles but I really dont know much about them. Trying to decide if I should catch the Harry Porter movie in the theatre before it comes down or should I want for the video. I guess it's better to watch it on big screen, eventhough my screen at home is pretty big too.

And thanks Hackie for those snow piccies. It's pretty warm here in the West Coast and the ski hills are yellowish green since snow pretty melted on all slope. Too bad, cos we need the tourism here in the ski season. So I hope the snow will come to our mountains soon.

Puss-in-Boots
01-29-2003, 05:43 AM
:wavey: Vera! :D

LMAO.... most of you would have seen part of the translation before.....it's all in Quenya.... 'Aiya!' means 'hail! The next sentence means 'My name is Aldaron' (ok, so I now have an Elvish name :o :p) The next sentence is the standard Quenya greeting (it's actually in the book as well) and means 'a star shines on the hour of our meeting'.

The next two sentences are actually taken from the pickup lines that I posted in this thread some time back....

The third sentence means, 'I will love you for better or worse, till death do us part.'..... and the last sentence says, 'take off your clothes and lie down on the bed.' :p

So there it is, my entire signature translated... LOL

I think I will probably be happier if I call Coyotes as my home team now cos it's an amazing record but my new home team never lost to my old home team in it's 5 years francise history.  Somehow, Flames always find a way to screw up big with the Coyotes, like they were leading 3-2 in 3rd period and end up gave up a goal in the last 90 seconds last night, losing 4-3.

I just remembered that the Canucks practice in a rink in Burnaby but the GM place is in Vancourver, right? The 2 rinks are pretty far apart. It's the same here for Coyotes, they practice in Scottsdale's Ice Den which is on the east side of the valley (and is pretty close to my hubby's office and where I shop most of the time) but their new arena will be on the west side of the valley (I can't remember the city's name :o )

At least I watched the new eppies first and I have to say

GO DEAN GO

He is a smart guy and I think he can win Rory back! :D :D

I'm no language expert.... but I find Google very helpful, that's how I found all my Elvish sites...

Would these Korean links be of any use to you?

OK! I feel I'm really dumb now. There are 2 different ways to pronounce numbers in Korean, according to the web site, one is for indicating and one is for counting. Can anyone explain the difference to me? I think I understand counting but indicating???

Dont get me started on Matt Daemon (lol, loved this name. :p) and his little sidekick. :p
I loved them on Jay and Silent Bob stryke back, though, where they make complete fools out of themselves.
Actually, you can see some spoof on DareDevil here and there. lol
They are gonna ruin yet another comic classic putting a Hollywood doll as the main role. Oh well.... :o

:wavey: Emma! :)

I also don't really have much of an idea what they are talking about....

Perhaps, counting as in 'there are three houses', and indicating as in 'Jack lives in the third house'.... but that's just a wild guess.

My soccer team won their first match (a friendly) at our home stadium, but I couldnt go because of my leg. Anyway, the new players were pretty impressive. :D We won 3-0 with many players not being able to play.
Tomorrow we will have two young guys who were playing for the under-20s National Team, and a new midfieldier is coming soon from NewCastle United. :bounce:
Seems like we´re making a decent team. Now on to see if they will play up to their potential. Last year´s team definitely didn´t. :(

lol post above.Im not sure really because he hardly ever played for Newcastle.I saw him once at the world cup,he seemed OK :) but you never know, they say that premiership football is much faster and more physical than others so maybe the style didnt suit him.
