I don't blame Rainer for being sketical. Roddick bring it on himself. He has so much gamesmenship tricks in the past that ppl in the tour and the fans decide that he's not trustworthy. I mean, that fable about lying repeatedly in the past so when danger comes, no one trust a call for help? Wonder if Roddick read that when he was a kid.

Rainer's interview:

R. SCHUETTLER/A. Roddick
7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3

Q. You didn't look nervous at all out there for your first Grand Slam semifinal.
RAINER SCHUETTLER: I was nervous in the second set.
But, of course I was nervous. I mean, after I won the first set, I got a lack of concentration, but then I tried to focus again. Yeah, it worked.
So, of course, I was nervous when I went out there. But, yeah, it was okay. It was a good feeling actually. It was a nice crowd.

Q. You wiped out the entire United States Davis Cup team.
RAINER SCHUETTLER: I mean, actually I didn't think about that (smiling).
But, no, I mean, I just took the opponents how they came. I'm in the final now. I'm more than happy. There's another guy from the States waiting. I mean, he looks in a really good shape, so we see what's going to happen on Sunday.

Q. Can I ask when you first realized how hurt Andy was with his wrist?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: Actually, I didn't care if he was hurt or not because, I mean, I tried to play my tennis. Yeah, like he did this in a couple matches to get treatment when he was a set down. I really tried to focus on my game; I didn't care if he was injured or not. I tried to play my aggressive game from the baseline.
I mean, if you serve with 215 or whatever, then I don't know if the wrist really hurts. I mean, he knows better. For me, I won, and that's what counts.

Q. Did you feel the longer the match went, the better it would be for you?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: Of course. I mean, he had a tough five-set matches. I mean, I played I think four or five hours less than he did. So, of course, for me it was better if we go in the fourth or fifth set. It would be better for me.

Q. Could you have imagined when you arrived in Melbourne that you would be a German hero at this moment?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: No. I don't know if I'm the German hero right now. No, I mean, it's a dream for me, a dream to be in the final. Yeah, I said on the court, sometimes you have a dream, and you're able to reach it. I guess it's one of my best moments in life.

Q. The coverage of tennis in Germany went down after Boris and Michael Stich. What's the position of tennis in Germany now?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: I mean, my parents said it's pretty stressful for them right now. I think, yeah, everybody is happy, or a lot of people are happy and watching my games. Yeah, I'm very happy about that. There are a lot of people watching me and support me. They enjoy the way I play tennis.

Q. When you laid down on court out there, what were you thinking?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: As I said, it's like a dream. I did this when I reached the quarterfinals. I said, "Okay, maybe it's going to bring me a little bit of luck because I will need it for Sunday." I'm just happy to be there, just try to feel the atmosphere a little bit more.

Q. How do you think you can beat Andre Agassi on Sunday? What kind of game do you have to play?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: Maybe he eats something wrong the day before, then I have a chance (laughter).
No, I mean, I have no pressure at all. I just go on the court. He's in good shape. He played the matches unbelievable. So I go out there, try to give my best, and at the end I will see the result.

Q. No German has lost a final in the Australian Open. It's a big task for you.
RAINER SCHUETTLER: Yeah. Sounds good, actually (laughter).
But every time is the first time. I mean, no, I'm really looking forward to the final. Yeah, maybe I have the chance to win. If not, I try at least to play a really good final. But I will go on the court and try to win, of course.

Q. You played him once before. Do you remember much about that match, what happened?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: Yeah, but it was different because I played on clay. I think it was four or five years ago in Munich. I think, yeah, it was a totally different game. I mean, it was my second year on tour. It's a long time ago. I think I improved a lot. So it will be like for me, it's fun to go out there and, yeah, try to give my best.
But I think to discuss about a game five years ago, actually I don't remember a lot, but I know that he kicked my ass.

Q. Where were you the last time Boris Becker was in the final? Did you watch it on TV?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: Actually, I really don't know where I was. I mean, I wasn't here. I don't know where I was.

Q. Grand Slam final, there's a lot more attention on you as a person. People ask, "Who is Rainer Schuettler?" How would you answer that question?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: This is pretty tough. Actually, I don't like to answer that question because like people who know me, for them it should be easier.
I always try to be friendly. I try to be a polite person and a very friendly person.

Q. Obviously, Andy played five hours the previous match. Did you specifically just try and keep him in the long rallies?
RAINER SCHUETTLER: No. I mean, my game is to play aggressive from the baseline. I just try to play my game. It's always the same. When it doesn't work, maybe you have to change it a little bit, the tactics. First of all, I try to play my game, yeah, play aggressive from the baseline. I didn't change anything before.

Q. Some people say these courts are sticky. Do you have any difficulty running on them? Doesn't look like you do.
RAINER SCHUETTLER: No, I don't have any difficulties running on the court. Actually, I prefer to play on hard court because for me it's easier to run. I mean, on clay you always have to slide. I mean, I like to play on hard court, and I don't have any problems with running.

Hackie: One of the few places where you can get good tea [hot, that is] is UK... but forget other countries! I think it's funny you can't get hot tea in a restaurant in the States! You really are a coffee-drinking country. Canadians drink a lot of coffee too esp w Timothy's, Starbucks [which I hate -- too bitter], Second Cup... but it's hard to find a REAL cafe au lait here. It's just not the same as in France, or un cafe con leche in Spain or a caffelatte in Italia. But tea in England is a real treat -- it's so refreshing. Oh and another good place for tea is Bermuda -- veddy British w their afternoon tea -- yum!

Hot tea has never been a big thing in America, I don't think -- remember we rebelled against the English by throwing their tea in the ocean :D so that's a pretty good indicator of our feelings to tea ;) Coffee is so much more fashionable  (not to mention bad for you). I don't like coffee personally.

I like Timmy's coffee better than Starbucks. Second cups is not much in the West. But I like the atmospher of Starbucks so I go there to get coffee anyway.

Cafe Au Lait is best in Paris. Well, as far as I know cos I haven't be to every place in Europe. But that little cosy hotel that we stayed when we were there has a really good supply of Cafe au lait in the morning. And they call it latte here. Only in Montreal that they serve cafe au lait.

OK! First I'm not a Roddick fan, I just want to analyse what happened and what was said.

I mean, if you serve with 215 or whatever, then I don't know if the wrist really hurts. I mean, he knows better. For me, I won, and that's what counts.

You don't need to be very hurt to have a trainer. If the wrist was really hurt, he probably had to default the match. He did serve 215 kpm last night but if you look into the average speed, it's down for him. Actually, Hurley noticed this before Andy had the trainer out in AO thread here.

Also, my twisted ankle help me in my case here. I was sparring in my TKD class yesterday, I could not recall when I hurt my ankle. I recalled something not feeling right after one of my kick but I didn't feel the pain at all. After the spar, I managed to walk to my position, stand and bow, shake hands and then start removing all those protective gears, I kept standing to remove my helmet, my vest, my forehand guard and then I sit down to remove my shin and instep guard. When I started to stand up again, I could not land on my right foot.

Tea, a non-controversary subject here! I was quite used to have different kinds of herbal tea to select in restaurants in Calgary, even places like Boston Pizza. I think in Arizona, which on the west coast, will embrace tea more than the east coast. That's why I'm surprised I can't find any herbal tea in lots of restaurant here. I am not looking for very traditional or excellent quality of tea here, just a tea bag with some hot water. :o

Kimmy is a better person than I . . ..

Cell phone problems for Serena, Clijsters
January 23, 2003

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters had something in common after their semifinal at the Australian Open -- their cell phones weren't working in the locker room.

So they talked to each other.

Williams had just completed a dramatic victory, rallying from a 5-1 deficit in the final set. The top-ranked Williams saved two match points and took the final six games to win 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Williams described Clijsters as a "great person'' and thinks she'll "make a great champion because she is always positive. Even if inside she's dying.''

"We were actually chatting in the locker room,'' Williams said. "You can appreciate that because after I lose -- when I was younger -- I would be angry,'' Williams said.

"Now it's just a game and I just wish the other person good luck in the future,'' she added.

Clijsters said she and Serena were "always really nice to each other'' off the court.

"I have a lot of respect for every player. I can't even remember what she said (afterward). You know, I congratulated her. I said that she deserved to win.''

LOVE DOUBLE

Are Lleyton Hewitt and Kim Clijsters next?

Steffi Graf is contemplating a return by teaming with husband Andre Agassi in mixed doubles at the French Open, raising questions if Hewitt and his girlfriend will play together again.

For now, both are concentrating on their singles games. Hewitt is ranked No. 1 and Clijsters is No. 4.

"Who knows?'' Clijsters said. "Once, when our careers are maybe slowing down a little bit, we might just put some mixed doubles in it as well.

"I really enjoy playing mixed doubles. It's a lot of fun, very relaxing and, yeah, I have a good partner.''

The two teamed for mixed doubles at Wimbledon in 2000, losing the final to Donald Johnson and Kimberly Po.

I think Rainer is saying, how does he know if something is wrong or not when Roddick is serving 215mph. And he doesn't have to be hurt to have a slower percentage, he can be tired, well, he was tired.

But I think the whole point though is again the trustworthy thing. If Roddick had come clean before, the question won't have pop up every time when he's behind and he calls a trainer. Maybe we deserves a second chance or maybe not, but it's not easy to forget what you've done in the past to give you a certain reputation. I hope i'm not being bias. But that's the way it is. Like ppl think Lleyton is a racist so whatever he said that's sensitive enough to ring a bell, ppl is going to accuse him of being racist. That's the consequences that everyone has to deal with when they act a certain way.

Hi Lee!

It makes sense that they w like tea in the W -- I think of the W coast in US and Cda as a haven for more laidback types who prefer an alternative lifestyle, and that includes drinking tea, any kind of tea... coffee is for the gungho biz types who need to stay awake to keep ahead of their competitors!! then again, it might just be a big fat stereotype...!:p

Tea is soothing... and you can linger over a nice big pot of tea... I often have tea w friends... one day I'd like to have my own afternoon tea...

I didn't really drink coffee until I was in uni -- when I first had espresso in France I almost died! I was so hyper -- as a non-coffee drinker, it was ashock to my system!!

But now I like coffee... Italian friends only drink espresso and always serve it to me at their home -- they have a lovely espresso maker they brought back from Italy.

Yum!! But I love coffee and chocolate together, w a touch of orange!!

Lee my battery had the warranty and I didn't pay for the entire amount of the new one...

Hackie... I remember, the Boston Tea Party!!

I love coffee bcos the aroma is irresistable. But I don't want to drink more than 2 cups a day bcos it dehydrated me. So I have to drink the other 6 cups of tea of juice to fulfil my quota of 8 cups of "water" a day. I used to fill up my 1 litre bottle with distilled water in the morning at work and finished it at the end of the day. But the healthy lifestyle is kind of over for me now :).

Vera, I totally agree with what you say about Andy's part. I teach Vincent the crying wolf story myself (actually a few times). Andy will be carrying the burden of his childish behaviour (honestly, I believe gamesmanship is a childish behaviour) for the rest of his tennis career.

May be I have a higher expectation on Rainer. He's been on the tour for many years and should be more mature. He won the game and should be more gracious when getting into a controversary subject like this. He is a player himself and I lost a bit of respect of him when he imply something like this whether it's true or not. Nico's outburst in TMS Canada was in the heat of the moment but Rainer said this during an interview after he won.

Water is definitely my "thing", but it's sooooo hard to drink when its cold outside, because water is only good when its cold, and who wants to be drinking a cold liquid when its way below freezing outside? :( So I still drink my water (have cut out sodas for the most part, but have been on a chocolate kick lately so I'm probably getting twice as much sugar as I used to :o) but have replaced it for the most part with tea.

I don't even think you need a sense of humour to get crack up by TC. She's absolutely hilarious. By far the funniest in this place. But Clueless is hopeless if he can't get the humour of TC's post. I haven't gone to GM yet but I should go check it out later.

I just want to say a few things very briefly before I go to bed, because I'm very, very sleepy.

First of all, I'm terribly disappointed with Rainer for what he implied in that press-conference. :( He shouldn't have said that, it was childish. But he's still my fave and still want him to win tomorrow with all my heart. I forgave Nico because he's a good guy, so why not Rainer as well. Vera was right though, he's completely inexperienced in the fine art of giving interviews and avoiding the snares. And it just goes to show what kind of a reputation Andy has among other players. If I was Rainer, I'd prepare myself mentally for the possibility of his theatrics too, but he really shouldn't have shared that with the public. Shame on him! I guess Andy just brings the worst out of people. ;) I can't imagine Nico saying that to anyone else but Roddick. :p

And last, but not least, I'm really pissed off about that Andy thread. :fiery: I posted a long response to Andy's personal address to me, and I quoted him paragraph by paragraph and even included quotes from other parts of the thread. It took me quite some time to write that and time is a very, very precious commodity to me these days. And what the fuck do I discover when I come back later? That the whole thread was deleted. :fiery: Thank you very much Mrs. Guga! First my post is called redundant and now it's practically thrown into garbage.

I don't know why the hell I bothered with GM in the first place.

Btw Vera, I told Andy the same thing you just said. I explained to him that Mrs. Guga (deliberately or not) misunderstood your post and agreed with you on something you never said, thereby completely missing your point, so she in fact, did not get it, not even close. But why am I still arguing that? It's pointless. I doubt that Andy got a chance to read it anyway, so I guess that particular arguement is over and done with. Moving on to better things.

Hi Lee! Bye Vera!

I'm NOT watching the Venus [opps I guess it s be the Serena] sisters' match...

Just watched part of the Pandy/Rainer match... I can't believe how BIASED the commentary was from all of those ESPN clowns! They've exceeded themselves. Talk about making big fat excuses for poor injured Pandy and WILLING Rainer to lose. It's disgraceful! THey kept going on and on about it -- excessive or what?! If you ask me, Pandy pretty well tanked that 4th set... And JCourier at the end blatantly stating that Rainer will lose to AA... even if you THINK it, you don't say it... this is commentary???!! It just gets worse every match, every tournament... I can't wait for the final tomorrow night. shudder...

Cute Article:

Doubles pair for a trim

Two of the busiest rooms at this year's tournament are also two of its smallest. Tucked under Rod Laver Arena are the player hair and beauty salons, writes Emma Quayle.

For the past two Australian Opens the player hair and beauty salons have been over at Vodafone Arena; this year, they are tucked under Rod Laver Arena, in a corridor outside centre court.
The past two weeks have been flat out for Gidget Ricca and Debbie Mitzia, who have cut hair, painted nails, waxed legs, trimmed beards and done everything in between for the past four and six years, respectively.

More than 10 players a day have shown up for a trim and a chat, not all of them immediately known to Gidget and Debbie.

"I'll go home and say, we had so-and-so in, and my sons will say, he's No. 10 in the world!" said Gidget, who runs her own salon in Armadale between Opens. "They all just come in and chat about how their day's been."

A cut for everybody
Debbie and Gidget have their favourites; two nights ago, Gidget looked up at the doubles match on screen and realised she'd trimmed the entire court's hair. "I didn't know who I should be barracking for."

The absent Martina Hingis is one they adore, and Daniela Hantuchova stopped by yesterday afternoon to book a manicure, but not a haircut, which Gidget was pleased to hear.

"I can remember seeing her when she was 15 years old with short hair and saying to her 'Daniela, you really should think about growing it'," she said.

Each year, Gidget and Debbie have about five minutes after the women's final to get the winner made up for her traditional photo shoot: they got Lindsay Davenport ready for a shot aboard a gondola a few years back, and Hingis made up for a photo shoot at Brighton Beach.

"It's really frantic because we never know where they're taking them until the last minute," Gidget said.

No shortage of advice

Almost as many guys as girls will have been in for a haircut by the time the tournament ends tomorrow (a few will have been talked into facials, too!) so we could not leave without getting some thoughts on some of the flashier 'dos at this year's Open.

Gidget is not a fan of the Andy Roddick spike ("It looks a bit long. I think Andy could do with a trim"), likes the James Blake-Younes El Aynaoui dreadlocks ("It makes them more individual") and thinks the Juan Carlos Ferrero 'shag' works. "He's got the regrowth, the wild and messy look. My sons liked the look of it."
----------------------------------------------------------
Yep, it works :D  :D

Well, good night :wavey:

Well what a surprise, Serena won.

I've just read this http://www.smilies.org/basesmilies/21210-7.gifarticle about Juanqui and his lack of fighting spirit. I thought of posting it here, but the writer is really dissing him and I figured nobody is really up for something like that.

On a happier note: I just figured out all by myself that Spain playing Belgium in the DC propably means I'll get to see the tie on tv :bounce: when the Belgian channel that has broadcasted the belgian DC-ties is showing it again this year.

On a less happier note: yesterday morning I woke up with the idea; hell, why not go to the DC tie between Holland and Switserland? They'll play in Arnhem, which is only about 45 min by train and my godfather lives nearby, so I could propably stay at his place overnight. So I called the ticket office, but the whole thing is sold out already :fiery: (Ok, less than 2 weeks before the tie IS a bit late to purchase tickets, but they're playing in a f*cking football stadion which can seat 45.000 ppl and you're telling me there's no place for me anymore? http://www.smilies.org/basesmilies/bigun2.gif @ Dutch tennis association (thanks for that smiley link Layla, lol)) And this morning my godfather called to talk to my mum about some stuff and I asked about the tie and he told me that he is going! And he didn't even asked me, THE biggest tennisfan in the family, to go with him

So after all of this I'm in a really bad mood. Oh wait, no I'll get to see Juanqui play DC (that Belgian channel better not let me down), hmmm, that helps a little.

2003-01-24 16:07:45 GMT (Reuters)

BRUSSELS, Jan 24 (Reuters) - The hectic schedule of women's tennis could prompt Belgian number one Kim Clijsters to hang up her racket aged just 22, her father was reported as saying on Friday.

"Now she's coming to Belgium to play in Antwerp but then she has to pack her bags and hurry to America. Scottsdale, Indian Wells - it doesn't stop," Leo Clijsters told Belgian media.

"In three years' time she will very likely call it quits," he said. Kim, who earned $1.8 million last year, would be financially independent by then, he added.

The 19-year-old, who lost to Serena Williams in Thursday's Australian Open semi-final, made her professional debut in 1997 and is the girlfriend of men's world number one Lleyton Hewitt.

Leo, who acts as Clijsters' manager, said his daughter was under pressure in the sporting limelight. "She doesn't need all this attention," he said.

Well i'd be shocked if Kimmy retired in just 3 years. i think she has the desire and passion to continue to play for the rest of the decade. i understand if she's becoming tired of playing so many tournaments all over the world, but she really doesn't HAVE to play so many events. maybe she should learn from her boyfriend Lleyton and decide to play less tourneys this year to get more rest. Clijsters played 26 events in 2002 and i think that amount should be lowered this year for her personal health.

Why do parents always have their own thoughts to say about their daughters' future in tennis . Unless I hear Kim say the same, I'd rather ignore this statement. Didn't we have enough from some other more famous parents?

On the other hand, if Kim does not want to stay on the tour for long, I will respect her decision. Maybe she has other priorities (like family or studies) though I doubt that she would quit because she earned enough money to become independent.

But I just watched the Pepsi one on a business network with Osbourne, it costed 2.1 million.

I heard that one of the teams playing in Superbowl have a player who is of Lithuanian origin  and he is always showing great respect for his roots. Unfortunately, I do not like American football (or, to be more exact, can't undestand the rules :o) so I do not know his name.

I think Eurosport showed superbowl a year or few years ago. My crocodile convinced me to stay up and watch it live because of all these brand new commercials but guess what: the same as in Canada, the spots were sold to other companies and we ended up in huge disappointment.

LMAO!

So true. It is also known that building your reputation may require years and years of hard work but then it can be ruined in a second and regaining it may take even longer than building it.

I guess, Pandy started from the wrong end. Even though he showed more maturity during this AO, I still have no respect for him. Maybe it will change with time. Everybody should be given a second chance ;)

You have a dog!!!!!! Now that's another topic we can talk about avoiding any controversies, lol. Is it big?

Well, my dog is sleeping on the couch right now. He is a real sweetie, loves people and children although he sometimes can scare them because he is a big one. How funny, that he is of mixed breed (his mother (German shepherd) fell in love with neighbours Riezenschnauser (?sp) and the whole love affair ended with pregnancy) but looks like Labrador retriever. Even those who own pure labradors sometimes ask us from which club we are :D

Lol, yes I have a dog. It's a blond labrador called Floortje. She's not very big, a lot of people think she's only a few months old, when in fact she's almost 6. She's very sweet, but also a big sissy, she's scared of almost every animal, even the smallest kitten. When I'm walking her and we run across another dog she goes and lies flat on the street until the dog has passed  But when she's in the house and someone rings the doorbell she won't stop barking, guess she only feels safe in her own territory.

Btw, I read in an interview once that JC has two St. bernards, they must awfully hot in southern Spain.

And last, but not least, I'm really pissed off about that Andy thread. I posted a long response to Andy's personal address to me, and I quoted him paragraph by paragraph and even included quotes from other parts of the thread. It took me quite some time to write that and time is a very, very precious commodity to me these days. And what the fuck do I discover when I come back later? That the whole thread was deleted. Thank you very much Mrs. Guga! First my post is called redundant and now it's practically thrown into garbage.

I don't know why the hell I bothered with GM in the first place.

Layla - just wanted to tell you that I read your post, and thought that it was very well done.

You adressed ALL the points, without getting "personal" or what not.

As I said in Mrs guga's "I deleted the wow andy thread" thead - I think what she did is totally tacky. Frankly I have zero respect for her pathetic theatrics as it is, so my opinion is a little biased ;)

But I feel that deleting threads where you were no longer participating actively in the main discussion, is rude to those posting in it. Perhaps she felt that she was made to look like and idiot? (hope you're reading this, love  )

Anyhow - I think that I need a vacation or something.

Nobody in the 'tennis world' has faith in Rainer -- and I've found Mark Woodforde's column for the Open to be really biased and annoying. He said Kim had the best chance of upsetting the all Williams all the time but that she couldn't do it. He says Rainer doesn't even have a chance for a set.

As for Kimmy, I'm not gonna take her father's word for it. It's very suspicious that he's out there talking about it and she hasn't said anything. Sounds to me too much like his own patriarchal vision of his daughter's career. I think it's far too early to even consider retirement at 19. When she gets to that point (22) she will have a clearer vision of what she wants out of life, but for new, her passion for tennis is far too strong to give it up.

Still, as disappointed as I would be if she really does retire in 3 years, I'd respect her decision and I'd fully understand if she wants to put family first. We'll see what happens though. I'd be very much surprised if what her father said comes true. And I can't believe he made it sound like she's only in it for the money. Shame on him!

I also read one, maybe the same one. Oh well, he probably deserves it and letís not be too kind. But I think the harder the criticisms, maybe the better for him. Sure that heíll think twice if heís in that situation again. Remembering the painful experience and if he doesnít want to be called a quitter again, heís not going to do a similar thing to help himself to a negative reputation. I was in high school and once in a 400m competition where I fell behind and gave up without finishing the race. I still think about it, still feel the shame of being a quitter. So I donít believe he can live with that.

I try to let this match go, but I still canít . So finding the positive may help a little. And Vaiva is right. Building a reputation takes years (and he came on the tour and was known as a fighter for the past few years), then you can ruin it in one match. It is a big price that he paid for losing that match, letís hope that bought him more maturity and determination.

Before we all shit on Agassi, perhaps he doesn't mention them because steffi asks him NOT to.

I'm not Agassi fan myself, but I don't think he deserves any flack for that whatsoever, and it's hardly a reflection of what kind of family man he is or isn't.

Anyhow - nobody be offended by the Grand Slam Freeze Club please ;)

Actually, I like the real one more too, I'm just experimenting at this stage.... there is this Japanese site that does some rather cute animations.... this file was slightly too large to use as an avatar.

I don't recall if the movie covered this, but definitely at one stage in the book he was killing Orcs with his dagger because he had run out of arrows.

Well, here's one of him carrying his bow.

I had to put Pete - sorry- for Hewitt and Safin have to get their dues as "spankers".

But don't worry - Agassi 1990 USO has been added ;)

Thanks again Lee.

I was going to include Ferrero, but somehow the fact that he won a set exempts him fro the list I *think*

If anybody objects in the thread I will include him ;) But then i woul have to include ALL 4 set spankings as well, and that is just far too many :p

With this Rory-Jess-Dean triangle, I wil try to squeeze GG into my very busy schedule tomorrow.

I am mad at myself cause I mixed up the tapes and now one eppy was embedded in some tennis matches.

When I first saw the title, I thought: Gosh, here we go again. But Iím glad that at least you didnít open the thread with his name in the very first column, eventhough I knew sooner or later, heíll be the honorary mention. Iím not offended so donít get me wrong. I hope that someday, I grow up to be as objective like you :p.

Hi thread :wavey:

*hug* Layla *hug*

The AA man was quite ruthless, wasn't he? My man apparently returned too late so when I woke up and turned on TV the match was already over

However, there are good things to come for Rainer. He will be seeded high in many tournaments and (may) have easier early round matches. If he keeps his game and level of play, he may have a very good year indeed.

*we need more positive thinking*

Layla

Hello everyone! :wavey:

You didn't miss much Vaiva. ;) But I honestly don't think Rainer choked (here we go with that word I hate again). Maybe in the last set when he lost all hope of winning. Andre has a way of getting to you psychologically.

Rainer played some games incredibly well and then others pretty poorly. He just couldn't sustain a high level of play but he did try his best. Honestly, Andre would've probably kicked anyone's butt yesterday, so Rainer didn't deserve all the shit he got. He was terrifying. I wish he didn't play so well. :( But I'm hoping it's just Melbourne that inspired him to play like that and he won't continue like this. :p

Thanks for the hug. :) I'm over it by now, moving on to Milan, which will also be covered on Eurosport. :) Ooops, I have no idea who's playing. I should go check. :o

Well, so much for the Aussie Open this year. I think I liked the one of last year better, even though Juanqui didn't play then.
Hope the French will turn out to much better than last years ;)
