:wavey: and congrats to all the people who have recently reached posting milestones...

Can't stay long... have just popped on to vent for a bit. Fuck, even just effing binding my effing bloody thesis is becoming such a big effing hassle. Since I had a scholarship the university is paying for the binding, I had to chase the scholarships people to tell the department that, so that they'd draw up a purchase order for me. But hey, now they won't give it to me because these things MUST have the precise amount written on them beforehand, nobody told me I had to go get a quote beforehand?! You can't just ring up and say 'I want 10 copies bound, how much is that?' the price depends on how thick it is and what sort of binding and texture and lettering I do for the covers and I can't effing do that over the effing phone! So I'm now supposed to make two trips to the binders, one for the quote and one to actually give them the purchase order so they can start binding! That's the one thing that peeves me about Australia, they assume EVERYBODY has access to an effing car. Public transport is crap, yet people assume traipsing about town will be no problem.

And then, after I'd printed a final copy of the damn thing, my supervisor wants me to add a sentence. Given my luck it'll throw things out of whack and I'll have to redo the table of contents AGAIN! That's not all, my 'summary of changes' I prepared in response to the examiners comments wasn't 'detailed' enough. Christ, none of my other classmates even had to do one, even though they also had prescribed changes.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Sorry for butting in in the middle of the scores. :o :( Good luck to everyone's favourites! I'll also be cheering for Juanqui! :D :bounce: .... once I add this minging sentence and make a more 'detailed' 'summary of changes'

Get a peep into the match when 4-3 Juanqui. He had a very spectacular fh volley to make it 6-3. Too aggressive for the next 2 points when Franco serve but get the job done on his own serve. (He tried a fh winner behind baseline on both points and ended up in the net).

So may be his winner/ue ratio is being too aggressive instead of let opponent dictating the play. With first set under his belt, I believe he will be getting better and Franco will be a bit disheartened losing the set after serving for it twice!

Ooh, thanks for that report, Lee :) I guess his aggressive play from last week has held over. And I hope you're right, that Squillari will be disheartened! :o

I think this also goes to prove Layla's point about the Sydney final -- Juanqui's amazing mental fortitude. Broken at love after breaking and coming back to win it in a tiebreak? Sounds good enough for me :)

I want to kick Mali a** for his commentary. He keep on saying it's a typical clay courters match between Franco & Juanqui, then Jim Courier ask it's probably a very long first set (they were at tie break that time) and Mali said, "Oh! it's just 46 minutes!".

Looking at the match stats -- not only is Juanqui not converting his break chances (3 for 11 :(), he's also not winning enough points when he gets his first serve in (only 13 of 27, less than 50%).

I think his serve's very off today. Percentage is higher now but he's just swing it in. I saw his serve on the TB, no kick at all, just swing it in. So he's not getting much point even if it's in

TennisHack
01-13-2003, 04:38 AM
Davydenko is fast closing in on Jarkko -- Jarkko's first serve % has come down to 68%, and he hit another double fault. It took Nikolay 10 tries before he finally broke the Finnish serve, and now has a set point -- and takes it.

Jarkko and davydenko, 1 set all.
