i'm actually cheering for USA in this one b/c if Spain wins their first tie too, then these two countries will play in the Quarterfinals and it will be televised in the US! it will be a perfect chance to see Juan Carlos and all our favorite Spaniards kick the Americans' ass on the clay courts of Spain. maybe Ferrero will finally get to play and beat Pandy. :D

Hi there! :wavey:

Is anyone still here? I just posted my first predictions for this year. :) Finally I get to be there from the beginning and not trail 500-700 points behind everyone else. TH, have you decided if you want to play the Prediction Game with us this year? It should be a lot of fun!

Hehe, more guy talk. :D That footballer in a suit looks really good (not as good as Raul, but still pretty darn great!) But in terms of football, my heart still belongs to Michael Owen and that hasn't changed at all, even though he's going through a rough period. :(

I think I will change my avatar periodically as well, if only the option of personalized avatars will still be there after the trial period. For now, I'm happy with the one I got. :hearts:

Are you kidding? Alex did a phenomenal job! :D He shut everybody up. That was one of my favorite moments of 2002. ;) But yeah, it would be great to see Juanqui back in action in Davis Cup.

I'll get to see the USA/Croatia tie as well, since it will be broadcasted on the Croatian TV. But if the mood strikes me and I don't have too much work, I might go see it live, depending on where it takes place. Probably not though. Saving my money for Kitzbuhl or something like that. ;)

You should totally go to a tournament!! :bounce::bounce: A Davis Cup tie would be even better, but I think most of the people that go to those are a bit rabid -- you know, foaming at the mouth type ;) Unless you suddenly find a great passion for someone, LOL -- but it'd be tons of fun nonetheless.

And the tie is taking place at DOM SPORTOVA (HALL OF SPORTS) ZAGREB, CROATIA -- at least, according to ESPN ;)

And from the Davis Cup site:

The USA, who also reached the last four this year, will travel to Zagreb to face Croatia. An indoor carpet court will be laid at the Hall Dom Sportiva for the tie, which may see the return to competitive action of Goran Ivanisevic.

:(:(:( Not that I don't understand your reasoning, but it would be so much more fun if you were there as well. Oh well. As long as you still play Hitman's game! :D I can't wait for it to start! This week seems sort of surreal in terms of tennis. Sure the season has started, but most of the big names are not in action yet. It seems more like a test week of sorts. Juanqui starts his season in a few days! :bounce: And the Australian Open begins on my birthday! How cool is that! :D Apparently, Eurosport will be covering it all night with replays during the day, but I'll probably tape most of it, there's no way I'm gonna be awake every night... or maybe I will, could be fun!

Surprise? Not really. It is Wednesday night after all. ;) I just saw The Pretender as usual and now I'm just winding down before I go to bed. I'm also downloading all the Paul Westerberg songs. :) And I already downloaded the new Foo Fighters CD but I haven't listened to it yet.

Zagreb, hmmmm... that's doable. It's only a few hours' drive from here. We'll see. I would have prefered it to be at the seaside somewhere but now I'm just being demanding. :p Well let me put it this way. If it was Spain coming over I'd be there in a blink of an eye. The only guy from Team USA that could possibly lure me to visit Zagreb is James Blake and the Croatian team doesn't rank much higher in my books. Oh but then there's Goran, whom I've adored for years and years! :)

I was watching Ed, where Carol was dumped at the altar because she was still in love with Ed. But now Ed's not going to go to her, he's going to get someone new apparently  Man that made me sad :(

Anyway, I totally agree with you, it's been weird. Plus, for me, it's hard to keep my site updated, because Australia is more than a day ahead of me :( But I'm doing my best, and I can't wait for the Australian Open. Last year I stayed up and watched the men's final and had a blast. But I'll definitely have it taped, it's on during the day and really late at night so I won't get to see it.

Ooh, you give me a great idea!! We'll have to work in a Davis Cup tie into our story!! Not necessarily Spain, but maybe France or Russia or Switzerland. I hadn't thought about that :D We're kinda late in the season at the moment and I think the only DC tie left is the final  I don't know if I could handle the Masters Cup final and the DC final, both with our #1 boy starring.

Last year, I taped the final but couldn't watch it until later in the day so I tried really hard to not learn the outcome, which wasn't easy because my dad and my brother were watching the replay in the living room. But I succeeded! :D This year I might watch it live (at about 4 am) depending on who will be in it.

I do love staying up from time to time (but not every night). Getting up to watch the Oscars has been a tradition of mine since I was in primary school. :) And the Oscars usually run until 7 or 8 am. Then I pull down the shades and go to bed. :D

Ed is a show on NBC, a comedy-drama about a man, Ed, who goes back to his hometown (after his wife divorces him) in Ohio, where his boyhood crush, Carol, is teaching at the high school. He does really crazy things to try to win her heart, and they do share a few kisses but never really have a relationship. So Carol gets engaged to another teacher, but she's dumped at the altar because her fiance can tell she's secretly in love with Ed (of course she has never told him or told anyone for that matter).

And on the preview to next week's show, they're introducing a new love interest for Ed. That pisses me off, especially since I don't get to see the show every week and I can't monitor what's going on :fiery:

But hopefully they will end up together in the end :)

I'll try to find some pictures of the main characters.

Me too, me too. (that's in response to hope and to John Corbett). Plus she's my age. ;) Although I've actually always found John very attractive. I believe I've already mentioned that I've seen the entire Northern Exposure series about 3 or 4 times. :D I was more partial to Fleischman though, because he totally reminded me of my first crush (highschool). Everyone else noticed the similarity as well. :D I don't mean in terms of his appearance, but his mannerisms and philosophy of life and the way of expressing himself... He was my classmate and he went on to become a doctor! Go figure.

Great to see you again! :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yeah, Rickman is one of my favorite actors. He has the sexiest voice on the planet after Eddie Vedder! :hearts: I'd love to see him on stage, he is a phenomenal actor. Mmmmm, Les Liaisons Dangereuses! I wonder if he's better than Malkovich, but I do admit that kind of a sexy role suits him very well. My favorite role is in Madly, Truly, Deeply, which also happens to be one of my favorite movies. But I didn't believe it was possible for them to show even less of Snape in HP 2 than in part 1. It's not fair!

Yes, it's THAT voice, isn't it? Sooo smooth and low! Of course TMD is one of my alltime fave films -- I've had the great opportunity to see the lead actress, Juliet Stevenson, on stage several times -- she is phenomenal!! And Rickman is a good friend of hers -- she talks about him!

Malkovich is nothing compared to Rickman... now his voice is definitely NOT sexy...!

You really are lucky! Juliet Stevenson is a brilliant actress. She was perfect for that role. And you're right, Malkovich's voice is decidedly not sexy, but he does have a presence, that look in his eyes is mesmerising! He's probably one of the most charismatic actors around. I don't know. We're usually only one season behind, two at the most. The Pretender was an exception, because there was a two-year break between the previous season and the one I'm watching now. But I will keep the faith! :) I would like to see a new show for a change. Most of the old ones are getting really stale, even the ones I used to love, like Ally McBeal and Dharma and Greg.

Thanks Hackie, Iīm REALLY happy the godamned burner is back. Iīm considering never turning the computer off again. lol

And RF, New Yearīs Eve was good. We had a family party at home, and then we went out for some ride. My gf and I first thought we would be going to a club, but then changed plans.
And today, our new president had his hmmm... how do you call it... Like an opening day, when he is OFFICIALLY the new president. lol. It was a huge and beautiful party! LULA-LA!!! ;)

As for Guga, heīs not playing yet. He travelled to Auckland today if Iīm not mistaken. He plays there next week. :)

On the other hand, Chris Martin and Eddie Vedder were fabulous on their respective shows! :D

You know you really creeps me out? The lead singer of the Vines. He always looks stoned out of his mind, and people find this attractive? Gross.

Dissident
01-02-2003, 03:25 AM
Not the Vines... The Hives... You know... The one who sings that Punk thing. "Hate to Say I Told you So"? Too bad the others songs are nowhere near that one in therms of quality.
And they are all REALLY weird. lol

I like The Strokes, though. The album is pretty cool. But it would help if Casablancas could keep standing... :p He seemed like he had 10 legs. lol

TennisHack

LOL, I know who you were talking about, I was just making an observation about the most stoned, fucked up looking lead singer to front a poseur rock band I've ever seen.

The Strokes are too pretty for my taste, and I haven't heard anything from them in a long while. Oh, well, whatever works. Guess I'm a bit set in my ways.

oh lol! :o

The Strokes recorded their first album on 2001. They have to come up with something this year. :p The maximum time between albums is 2 years.

I dont know if they will come with something good, because they seem to be REALLY fucked up. With drugs and alcohol I mean. That means trouble...

Kelly Rippa, the actress who was in Ed (i think she left the show), owns a house in my town! she also co-hosts the Regis and Kelly Show on abc and is in a few commercials. really pretty. :) but unfortunately i've never actually seen her in town.

Layla, your town is so beautiful :hearts:. It looks so festive!

This year, the economy has affected the outlook of the city, as there's less outdoor lights hanging out at ppl's house than usual. So I hope this year will be a better year for the economy, the global one.

And I'm sad that Kafel and Enqvist lost their respective first round. I'm surprised that Zhenya played, I thought he won't be back til the indoor events later the month, that's what he said. Yeah I'm not a James Bond fan at all, I'm only going cause my mom wants to. I do like Pierce Brosnan as bond though, he's perfect for the role. Thank goodness it's no longer Roger Moore! But I tell you what! If they decide to cast Clive Owen as the new James Bond, I vow to become a huge fan of all future Bond movies! :hearts:

Leo, I used to love Halle Berry too (well, I still do), she's beautiful and a good actress. But she lost some of the appeal with her ridiculous Oscar acceptance speech. I know who Clive Owen is -- they called him Clive "Chancer" Owen in UK because he was in that show. You s/see him in CLOSE MY EYES! Layla, that Brit movie came out a few years ago now but it also has your fave Alan R -- ut you get a really good VIEW of our Clive in that film!! :p

Hi RogiFan! :wavey:

That movie sounds delicious. :lick: I wonder what you mean by a good view. ;)

I'm glad your CD-burner came back to life, even if it was just for a little while. Maybe it's moody and will feel better today. Or maybe he's rebelling because he has to work so hard. ;) It's entirely possible that's why my computer staged a coup as well. :o

Okay, then. I usually watch it all alone too. We have a deal. :D

The burner is working once again. lol

I guess I kinda know the reason now... All the cd Drives seem to have a problem. They all get too hot on extended use.
I mean, maybe thereīs something wrong with the cooling system or whatever itīs called.
When I play Diablo, the CD comes out BURNING!
And when I was playing it more, the burner worked less time. hmmm....
I think thatīs one of those patterns Lee spoke about some days ago. :)

Hehe, you're not a freak (unless I'm one too... come to think of it... :o ;) ). I do that too sometimes, when a movie (or an actor) really grabs me. I did that with Shakespeare in Love, and I even did it with Emma when I was in love with Jeremy Northam. I get to rent movies for a week as well, and why leave the tape on a shelf when you can enjoy it to the fullest?

:wavey: Hallo, thread!

I just got back from my lunch date with my friend. It was nice to see him one last time before he headed off to school. Unfortunately, today's weather is just as awful as yesterday's, all rainy and wet and miserable :( Of course, that's perfect video weather, so I'm going to break out my championship tapes and have a watch :) Kim has been looking quite stunning at the Hopman Cup, and I have yet to see her victory at the year-ending championships so that's probably what I'm going to watch today. I also have this tape labeled "TMS Paris" but I have no idea what's on it  so I guess it'll be a seek and find mission.

I was looking for pictures at Yahoo! today and I saw the Rogi score. What the hell happened?!?!?!??!?!?! I can't believe he lost to the Ken doll :D as Diss so aptly put it. Michel lost in vain now  and a Swiss won't take the title :( Very sad.

Oh, and I just wanted to tell everyone -- on the front page of the board, on the upper right hand section, you now have the option to change the colors of the board! :) I'm on the blue now, and it's much easier to see the buttons (plus blue is my favorite color).

 I don't get it. Is it just me or does Juanqui not get very much respect outside of his fans?? :(
Especially on tennis boards. I feel like people belittle his non-clay achievements or see them as flukes. And some people are just derisive at predictions that Juanqui will end up up in the top three next year. Argh!! I don't understand how you can root against Juanqui (which some people openly do!). He seems like one of the most modest, inoffensive players on the tour. And his fans are lovely too, if I say so myself!;) We don't really fight with anybody and we're definitely not as obnoxious as certain other fans. But then again I am really biased.

:bounce: ooh , I want Juanqui to kick ass so badly this year and shut all of them up! :fiery:

I agree that he got belittled all the time. I think all players who played well on clay got belittled most of the time. Like Guga, who won so many big matches outside clay and got to #1, still got no respect. I think Juanqui is pretty determined to prove those naysayers wrong, and shut PMac's month once'n for all this year. The fact that he is going to play less clay tourneys, somehow makes me think that he is planning to get good results on hard courts this year to prove that he's all-courter.

I agree that his fans are lovely too:D. Because he's such a nice and likable guy. Some ppl are never going to like him for whatever reasons. So don't mind them. In general, I think Juanqui is a very likable player among tennis fans.

i hope Koubek can get revenge for Fab, but i actually think Younes will take this match. i see that you predicted the same way. ;) but who knows, Koubek is very capable of an upset. i just hope that Misha can take out that asshole JMG (do it for Rogi) and maybe win the title. :) :bounce:

Spike's my favorite Buffy character. I like the humor and his accent:D. But I also admit that I don't like what he turns into, a miserable loser. Unfortunately, he's not getting any better this season, and continued to be miserable. Yes, he's still in love with Buffy, the only difference this season is that he's a different vamp now, the Angel kind if you know what I mean (don't want to give it away in case Layla still watching the coming season), and he's kinda going crazy so I can't tell what's gonna happen to him and that's why I'm still watching. But when he is not on, I keep flipping channel, cos I'm tired of those slaying thing.

i know, it's so depressing. but don't worry, the Ken Doll is fucked when he has to play the Great Mikhail Youzhny in the next round. come on Misha! :bounce:

lol i agree, Spike has a great accent. but too bad that he's still such a loser. :( his character has so much potential, but the writers are killing him pftt. :fiery:

i agree, Kimmy is gorgeous this week. she's also been a little flirty with Xaxa. ;) ever since the Masters Cup final i've just hated Lleyton so i wouldn't mind if she dumped Hewitt on his ass and went with Xavier. :D

There's only 26 of us at the moment on the blue, so come join us if you please!

omg i never noticed that.. i think i'll try out the blue ;)

btw Vera, i agree that the Moya/Ahole match was the best match ESPN showed of TMS Paris. actually i was just re-watching it the other nite when i couldn't sleep. Carlos played so well and Gagassi couldn't figure out how to beat him. :D

that's strange that they have been playing so many of Younes' matches this week. but i guess his match today against Fab must have been fabulous, even though it did have a bad outcome. :(

i'm so excited about Richard Krajicek! i hope he wins the title this week; it would be his first since 1999! Richard next plays American Brian Vahaly in the Quarterfinals. i saw Brian play against James in the USO last year and he's actually pretty good; a scrappy player that is quite speedy and gets alot of balls back. but i think if Krajicek's serve is on than he will win.

i would really love for Belgium to win it b/c i love Kim and Xavier. but i think USA is the favorite team with Serena and James. Australia is also a strong team this week (Alicia Molik is playing great and has some good wins already). i think the winning team will be one of these 3 (COME ON BELGIUM)!
