No, he's on the waiting list for both tourneys because he isn't ranked high enough to get direct entry into either tournament.

He will either have to qualify or hope 6 or 8 people pull out, or get a wildcard from Auckland as a semifinalist last year.

He's ranked #69 after ending last year in the mid-40s and even having a stint in the low 30s earlier this year. Not defending his points at the end of the year really made his ranking take a nosedive.

Vera
11-28-2002, 02:59 AM
Oh, so if he didn't get direct entry, he has to pick one tourney to qualify. Well, don't worry. He seems to have injured/sick a lot at the end of the season. So I think he will definitely be better next year. Don't worry.:)

But Ive had that same one for like 5 years, everywhere, I was growing tired of it. Its still the same everywhere else, though.

The change was motivated because I had to change my MSN addy, since I was getting flooded with junk mail in the other account.
As I changed one, well, lets make it all new. ;)

Thanks. I guess its just a mid-season (hahaha, off season) shock and confirmation of my worst fears. Last year he was able to get direct entry into all of his tournaments, and even be seeded in some cases. To have to go back to qualifying is a blow to my pride, at least :o

But I agree, I have faith he will do better :) Just me wallowing in my misery for awhile.

Last one, I promise. :o ;)

I took a drive today. Time to emancipate.
I guess it was the beatings, made me wise.
But I'm not about to give thanks or apologize.

I couldn't breathe. Holding me down.
Hand on my face. Pushed to the ground.
Enmity gaged. United by fear.
Forced to endure what I could not forgive.

I seem to look away. The wounds in the mirror waved.
It wasn't my surface. Most defiled.

Head at your feet. Fool to your crown.
Fist on my plate. Swallowed it down.
Enmity gaged. United by fear.
Tried to endure what I could not forgive. Yeah.

Saw things... (x4) ...clearer. (x2)
Oh, once you were in my Rearviewmirror.
I gathered speed from you fucking with me.
Once and for all I'm far away.
Hard to believe. Finally the shades are raised. Hey, yea.
Saw things so much clearer once you, once you... Rearviewmirror.
Saw things so much clearer once you, once you... Rearviewmirror.
Saw things so much clearer once you, once you... Rearviewmirror.
Saw things so much clearer once you... Oh yeah.

My family gets along very well. And when we all get together, it's the best time we can find an excuse to have great variety of food. So I'm planning big tomorrow when my sister's here, l see lots of sushi and dessert for sure. We don't really watch TV while eating:).

Was it Layla who likes the Mediterranean? me too... I'm drawn to it for some reason... esp. Spain (Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Granada -- my fave cities in that beautiful country!), and S France (Arles, Nimes, Montpellier, other tiny villages in Provence...)... nice lifestyle, climate, food, festivities... traditions. But I als love some UK cities like Bath and London, as well as other cities like Paris. Would love to spend a day in Brussels from Paris on the highspeed train or take a peek at Bruges. Perhaps take a train through Switzerland [stop off around Basel...]. Another unique city is Venice -- amazing place!

And I ABSOLUTELY cant believe I never posted these lyrics before here!

Its a blast, specially for the "Bush Dissidents" ;)

BUSHLEAGUER

How does he do it? How do they do it? Uncanny and immutable.
This is such a happening tailpipe of a party.
Like sugar, the guests are so refined.

A confidence man but why so beleagued?
He's not a leader he's a Texas leaguer.
Swinging for the fence. Got lucky with a strike.
Drilling for fear makes the job simple.
Born on third. Thinks he got a triple.

Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way.

I remember when you sang that song about today.
Now it's tomorrow and everything has changed.

A think tank of aloof multiplication.
A nicotine wish and a columbus decanter.
Retrenchment and hoggishness.
The aristocrat choir sings, "What's the ruckus?"
The haves have not a clue.
The immenseness of suffering.
And the odd negotiation. A rarity.
With onionskin plausibility of life.
And a keyboard reaffirmation.

Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way through the cities.
Blackout weaves its way.

I remember when you sang that song about today.
Now it's tomorrow and everything has changed.

So true! Gossard and Vedder were really on fire when they wrote this. :D

I think I am going to take a picture of him without his 2 front teeth. He is so cute like this but when he eat, I feel so sorry for him. It's very difficult for him right now especially one of the tooth next to the missing front teeth is loose too.

Vince was pretty happy when he lost them too. Actually, when they were loose, it's very difficult for them to eat. He was pretty rewarded by 'a tooth fairy' when he lost the first one. Unfortunately, the second time, 'another tooth fairy' forgot and I had to tell him there were so many kids losing their teeth and the tooth fairy was very busy. Well, I then remind 'another tooth fairy' what happened and Vince got his wish next night.

Gabi´s father is still alive. He is married to my mom now. Mom and dad got divorced when I was around 10.
Both got married again, and my mother had Gabi.
Fortunately. It would be a lot worse to lose a father on such a young age.

Anyone likes riddles? I heard a very good one sometime ago, and a thread on wtaworld made me remember...

"You are locked into a place, and there are two doors to get out. One of them is the right. You only have one attempt at a guess. There are two guardians standing in front of the doors. One of them only lies and the other only says the truth. You are allowed ONE question to ONE of the guardians before you chose a door.
What question you would make and what would you do next?"

Hello gang! :wavey:

Sorry I wasn't able to be here yesterday, but I see pretty much no one was here either. ;) I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving. :)

You wouldn't believe the trouble I had with the installation, but I'm not gonna bore with details. I did get them to replace the game and give me a new copy. I've finally managed to install it and I even played a little bit. :D It's a fantastic game. :bounce: But I'm not sure I'll ever buy another game again if they're so much trouble.

I'm watching ski jumping at the moment. Go Primoz Peterka, Robert Kranjec and Sven Hannavald! But I'll soon go to my aerobics class.

I got truckloads of work today so I might not be here much over the next 2 weeks. I'll still drop by every day but I'll have to be really disciplined.

Hi RF and Hackie, and Mrs. B, if you are around :wavey:. I hope Zhenya is okay. Since he mentioned surgery after DC, I kept wondering if he's fit to play right now, and what's up with that bagel :(. I'm happy for Seb but on the other hand, very worried for Zhenya. And he and Safin play all the tie single and double...I hope he's not too tired and it's not going to worn him down. I kept dreaming about the DC result last night, but it wasn't good, maybe I'm too worried.

Yeah. Marat had match point on the 4th set, he was leading like 5-3, then Paul Henri kept catching up, i think till 5-4. The French crowd waving (or clapping) something like a white long balloon, and lots of them wearing blue shirts---allez les bleus!!! But were they a loud bunch indeed--prodding their players on. But Zhenya looked tired...i felt sorry for him cuz Seb was all pumped up...Well, it's anybody's game tomorrow...we shall see... ;)

and hi, RF! I see you've been dropping by my 1001 reasons at non-tennis. u like Diana Krall, huh? I have 4 of her cd's. I saw her play here in Bern a few years back during a jazz festival and i saw her play in New Orleans at the Jazz Fest.

:) Yeah, Mrs. B. I've seen DK 3 times -- once for free outside Indigo bookstore -- also got her to autograph her new CD at the time and took a couple of pix of her -- later on I saw myself on TV!!

Also saw her live twice -- she's fantastic! So talented and Canadian!! WOO HOO! Canadian talent is pretty dominant out there in the world, esp. female singers/musicians. I have all her CDs now.

Jazz festivals -- it would be great to go to one some day. DK got to know Clint Eastwood at the Monterey Jazz Fest and then she had a song in one of his films -- it's the extra track at the end of... which CD now???

Anyway I can listen to her all the time! I have her DVD Live in Paris. Actually I missed her concert when I was in Madrid -- too jetlagged -- too bad!

Yeah, read about that yesterday, even the Canadian embassy has been temporarily closed. Well, this is in Manila and we will be in Cebu, Bohol, northern Mindanao and Boracay. But there always had been threats...and we shouldn't let these terrorists spoil our holidays by making us hide or stay at home. That's what they're trying to do all over the world.
But i leave it to my fate. If it's my time, it's my time...

Oh, I found out that the driver that is supposed to be there to make the sound card works is missing. Don't know what happen to it  . I just dropped by to say goodnight, since I have to get up early tomorrow. Cross-country skiing starts at 9 am, if they don't cancel it because it's so cold.

TH, you might be right about Yevgeny. :(

Still, I'm happy Seb won today, especially if the French crowds are so unforgiving. I was really worried what they would do during RG, when he was unable to close out some of his matches. I was afraid they'd turn on him, but they were brilliant and stood right by him helping him to win. It's inconceivable to me to boo someone I'm supposedly cheering for just because I happen to be disappointed.

Emma, glad to hear you had so much fun shopping. :D It's been ages since I bought something to wear. I just HAVE to find that perfect dress this year.

Mrs. B, I think you have the right attitude. Don't let anything or anyone spoil your wonderful vacation.

Vera, since you have already found the problem, I'll skip my suggestions. I hope you find the cd-rom, but I believe it's possible the driver is on a separate cd-rom. I now keep all of my computer stuff in a little box next to the computer, just so I know that if I panic, I will at least be able to access what I need immediately. But it wasn't always like this. ;) And I think you might be able to get the proper driver on the internet, if all else fails.

Yahooooo, Primoz Peterka of Slovenia won today's ski jumping competiton! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: He used to be right at the top but then he lost his way, had some personal problems. Now he's really got his life and his professional career in order. He got married and now has a beautiful daughter, I think. This is his first victory since 1998. What a comeback! He showed considerable progress last year, but this year started with a bang! :D

The ocean is really an amazing place...so much life! When i started my course last year i was a bit scared, especially with the exercises underwater, but as soon as i went down and saw all those beautiful corals and colorful fishes, i just got so mesmerized and lost track of the time. My husband loves it so much that he always takes a refresher course each time cuz he goes way much deeper. I want to do get used to it first before i venture further down, cuz that's where you see the big fishes...Still, if you just go with fins, mask & snorkel, there's also lots to see...
and yes, being a tropical country, it's warm & sunny all year round except during the monsoon season, between June and October.

Oh ...
State of love and trust as I busted down the pretext
Sin still plays and preaches, but to have an empty court, uh huh
And the signs are passin', grip the wheel, can't read it
Sacrifice receiving the smell that's on my hands ... hands, yeah
And I listen for the voice inside my head
Nothin', I'll do this one myself

Lay her down as priest does, should the lord be a countin'
Will be in my honour, make it pain, painfully quick, uh huh
Promises are whispered in the age of darkness
Want to be enlightened like I want to be told the end ... end, yeah
And the barrel shakes and, a-directly at my head
Oh, help me, help me from myself
And I listen, from both sides of a friend
Nothin', I'll do this one myself
Myself ... myself

Yeah, yeah ...

Hey, na-na-na-na, hey that's something
Hey, na-na-na-na, hey that's something
Hey, na-na-na-na, hey that's something
Wanna back, back it away, yeah

And I listen, oh, for the voice inside my head
Nothin', I'll do this one myself

Oh, ah, and the barrel waits, trigger shakes
Aimed right at my head, won't you help me
Help me from myself

Hmm ... state of love and trust, and a ...

:)

Glad to hear DK is also famous in Europe. Canadian women rocks!

Second, to all, what the hell is a turkey besides the country, since you obviously didnt get stuffed eating a federation?!?. :p

I take this is not a joke, Dissident. Other than the name of a country, a turkey is a bird similar to chicken but larger.

Now is my turn talking to myself. I am worrying whether I can climb up to my bedroom on the second story tonight. On Tuesday, my Tae Kwon Do teacher had the class did a split against the wall and the back of my thighs been killing me since Thursday (yes, it take a day or 2 to sink in) and after shopping whole day today, I can hardly walk now.

I bought 2 pair of shoes from Nine West at an incredible price of $10 each. :D :D Both hubby and my son have a new pair of Nike. My son also has 2 new pants(trousers) and a mock(turtle neck) and a t-shirt. Some dishes from Mikasa and X'mas gifts for my god-daughter. One of the hooded-swearter for my god-daughter has a run between the neck and the hood but I didn't catch it until I was home. Now I need to drive a long way to exchange it.

All these are nothing compare to the new toy my hubby bought at the end of the day since that new toy cost more than 100 pairs of the shoes I bought. The new toy is an AVR (audio-video receiver) which replaces the one we have now.

Hey, nice to see people here like Diana Krall as well. I've discovered her only last year but now I am absolutely crazy about her. Although I have only 1 cd, I have lots of MP3s that are waiting to be burned into homemade CD :)

:) Good morning, well it's almost noon... come on, Russia!! Just win this... I think Escude is having treatment on his back or sth now -- 5th set.

Wow ILR you cleaned up the Trafford Centre! Is it in Manchester -- like "Old Trafford"?? Isn't it fun to buy stuff?

I didn't buy anything last night for anybody... a drag! Now to go out w the hordes...!!

But I did buy a nice stretch denim skirt at Mexx the other day on sale! Not bad! Less than 1/2 price.

Just taped some U2 Dublin concert from CBS last night -- Elevation!!!

Yeah, DK rocks!!! We Canadians produce a lot of talent -- not just musically but otherwise -- even tennis -- doubles anyway! What about Mike Myers??

Oh no... Safin got broken 1st game...!!!

Oh good grief, you guys shouldn't have mentioned this :( Now I'm going to worry :( But, I'm glad you aren't going to let it ruin your vacation. You deserve to have a fabulous Christmas and this sounds absolutely fabulous:

My younger brother is a scuba diving instructor and i'll finish my course with him so i can get my license. Then we'll go together to my hometown for Xmas. My mother, who lives in the States, is also there, so this is one of those rare occasions that everyone is around...
Then we'll spend New Year with our friends from Bern in Boracay.
My husband is flying back earlier but i'll stay behind and hang out with my family. This is also a good time to see old friends, and of course i'll be playing tennis! :D
You bet i'll be eating loads of fresh seafoods while i'm there...:lick:

Scuba diving?! Oh, I've always wanted to do that!! You're so right about the colors of ocean life being wonderful. I think I'd like to go off the coast of Australia, by the Great Barrier Reef. There was a TV show filmed in Queensland (I don't know if any of you know it--Ocean Girl) and they had great shots.

And I also can't imagine the beach, the ocean, the warm sun as I sit next to a window where the third light snow of the season has just finished falling  We had a white Thanksgiving and it was great--of course, I say this because I didn't go outside AT ALL :o

Oh, God, I'm so depressed about Davis Cup. The Russians lost the doubles tie  Another long match where they just came up short. I'm seriously worrying about their chances to win now.

It's just not fair. WHY can't the Russkis be thrown a bone?!?! France has won this damn thing 9 times, they don't need another one :(:fiery: This is definitely NOT the way I wanted the 2002 season to end.

I can't imagine how this will do anything but make Zhenya crumble. He's wanted this for so long, and if they lose . . . I just don't see how this will bolster his confidence :(
