Talking about our coverage, I need to also thank the commentators here on their praise to Juan Carlos. They seem to love the guy. They say he is one of the most gutsy players out there, and that he has one of the best forehands and all.
Im still waiting for them to say he is one of the top three (if not the top) defensive player of the ATP.
What he did to save some balls today was out of this world.

Lol, when I saw Becca quote that I thought it was coming from someone with Eurosport, because they sound exactly like my commentators. They're full of praise for Juanqui, drooling over his forehands, speed, footwork and fighting ability. :) I did mention that they said he's got what it takes to be the future number one in the world. :D

I would also like to thank Eurosport for their excellent coverage. All matches live, followed by replays. Not to mention great commentating. I'm really pleased with this tournament. :)

No one's around. Everyone must be exhausted by the excitement from Shanghai.:D. Well, congrats Lleyton and sad for Rogi. But, thx Rogi for tiring Lleyton out. I watched the taped coverage this morning of JC's. He looked so tired at the end, he can barely smile. I hope he recovers well tonight and play brilliantly again tomorrow. I think he can beat Lleyton. Moya owns Lleyton, Juanqui owns Moya, so easy calculation :D :p .

Ferrero First Into Final

By Bill Scott
Juan Carlos Ferrero repeated his win over compatriot Carlos Moya from September's Hong Kong ATP tournament final, scoring a 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-4 comeback victory to reach the final of the Masters Cup Saturday.

It was only six weeks ago the "the Mosquito" stung Moya for the trophy in the heart of Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China. The repeat victory stopped Moya's dramatic late-season fightback, but ensured that the 26-year-old from Palma de Mallorca will surely be a major force on the ATP circuit next season.

Moya has scored a career-best 59 wins against only 21 defeats this season in which he won four titles and turned his came around after several years of back problems. He had to save six match points in Paris a fortnight ago against Sebastien Grosjean to earn his place in Shanghai.

Ferrero surged past the semis at a Masters Cup for the first after losing in the last four a year ago in Sydney in his finale debut.

As is usual in a match between compatriots who know each other's games well, all was on show in a tightly-balanced contest which lasted well over two hours.

Moya won the 53-minute opening set after coming back from a break down and saving a Ferrero set point in the tie-break. When his turn came, Moya won the set with an ace.

Ferrero began to turn the tide in the second, leveling the contest with a break of serve in the first game. The third set stayed on serve with Ferrero threatening and forcing his countryman to salvage two break points in the fifth game. Moya obliged with a second serve ace to hold 3-2.

But Ferrero stayed in pursuit, passing Moya for 4-3 and reaching the best-of-five set finale three games later when Moya failed to run down a drop volley.

Hewitt's Fitness to be Tested in Final

After his extraordinary battle with Roger Federer yesterday, Lleyton Hewitt will walk on court at the Shanghai Expo Centre here today to play Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final of the Tennis Masters Cup not knowing if his body will carry him through five sets. But don't bet against it. This is no ordinary body and Hewitt is no ordinary champion.

"Your guess is as good as mine, mate," said the 21-year-old Australian. "All I know is that I was feeling a lot better at the start of the third set here than I was when I played Marat Safin in the final in Paris two weeks ago. Though I'm not sure how I got through those last two matches against Roger today and Marat a couple of days ago, to be honest. I had to put myself through the pain barrier a couple of times. But that's how it is. That's why we're here playing the Masters Cup; playing the best players in the world."

The standard of tennis has offered evidence of that for most of the week and the spectators have responded. The capacity crowd of nearly 10,000 who watched the semi-finals were in a state of high excitement for most of the day, first as Ferrero fought back from losing the first set tie break to beat a tiring Carlos Moya 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 and then during the wildly fluctuating battle between Hewitt and Federer that saw the Wimbledon champion broken twice when he served for the match, missing two match points in the process before wrapping it up by the revealing score of 7-5, 5-7, 7-5.

Poor Federer was left to ruminate on lost opportunities. Of twenty one break points that the young Swiss carved out for himself - mostly with his superb forehand - he could only convert five. Against Hewitt it was not enough. Against Hewitt it is never enough.

This time last year Hewitt and Ferrero met in the semi-final of the Tennis Masters Cup in Sydney with Hewitt, on a high after just becoming the youngest No 1 in tennis history, winning decisively 6-4, 6-3. But it has not always been that easy. Ferrero has won two of their four meetings, although both the Spaniard's victories have come on European clay in Dusseldorf and Paris.

However this time the surface may not be as much of a factor as the physical and mental condition of both players. Hewitt has been put through the ringer and, almost certainly, will need to face that pain barrier again. But Ferrero, apart from having had a few tough encounters himself, will also have to put the memory of the French Open final last June out of his mind. To date that has been the biggest final Ferrero has played. And he froze. It was not until the first set was lost that he was able to offer Albert Costa any real opposition and he must trust that, six months on, he will better equipped psychologically to handle another momentous occasion.

Ferrero, Hewitt to battle for title
November 16, 2002

SHANGHAI, China (AP) -- Top-ranked Lleyton Hewitt beat Switzerland's Roger Federer 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 Saturday to reach the final of the season-ending Masters Cup.

Hewitt will face French Open runner-up Juan Carlos Ferrero in Sunday's final. Ferrero beat fellow Spaniard Carlos Moya 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-4.

Hewitt, who clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking on Thursday, qualified for the semifinals when Moya beat Albert Costa on Friday.

Hewitt struggled against Federer before sealing the win on his fourth match point.

"I hate to lose,'' Hewitt said. "I don't know how else to put it. That competitive spirit just keeps you going.

"It was very close, which probably made it more interesting than the tennis.''

Federer served for the first set at 5-3, but Hewitt broke serve and rallied by winning four straight games.

Hewitt had his first match point in the 10th game of the second set, but Federer broke serve and went on to tie the match.

In the third set, Hewitt broke Federer in the ninth game and served for the match. But Federer broke serve.

Federer double-faulted the last two points of the 11th game, and Hewitt took a 6-5 lead.

Federer fought off one match point before Hewitt sealed the victory and a spot in the final.

Ferrero and Moya engaged in a booming baseline battle at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

Moya lost his serve at 15 in the sixth game of the match, but Ferrero double-faulted at break point in the ninth game.

A forehand error by Moya gave Ferrero a set point at 6-5 in the tiebreaker, but a crosscourt forehand was called wide -- a call Ferrero questioned. When he pounded a backhand long on the next point, Moya had a set point and won with an ace.

The next two sets were hard-fought as Ferrero was the steadier of the two and Moya had his big forehand go astray occasionally -- just enough to put Ferrero into the final.

The final service break of the match came in the seventh game of the third set on Ferrero's crosscourt forehand pass. He lost only three points in his next two service games.

"I think I played a great match and there were a few points that it could have changed the match,'' Moya said. "But against Ferrero you have to play 100 percent all the time and a few moments I didn't. That was the key of the match.''

Hewitt, Ferrero reach final at Masters Cup
November 16, 2002

SHANGHAI, China (Ticker) - After getting some help Friday, Australian Lleyton Hewitt capitalized in the semifinals of the Masters Cup on Saturday.

Hewitt moved into the final for the second straight year as he overcame Switzerland's Roger Federer, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 in this indoor hardcourt tournament. Federer converted just five of 22 breaks points in a match that lasted almost three hours and finished the year with a 58-22 record.

"It's definitely a step forward," Federer said. "It was agreat experience for me to live through this Masters Cup event and I'm pleasantly surprised by the event. I enjoyed the city and the people here were very nice to me, so it was a great week for me and I will always remember this. It's probably my most favorite week after Wimbledon and the Olympics."

The seventh man ever to finish consecutive years ranked No. 1, Hewitt notched a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Russian Marat Safin in round-robin play Thursday. He went 2-1 in round-robin action and got help from Carlos Moya, who defeated fellow Spaniard Albert Costa on Friday.

"We both had a lot of opportunities at different times to win different sets and it all screwed up for both of us at different times," Hewitt said. "The other night I was a break down in the third set. I had to fight extremely hard through that match as well, but they're (Federer and Safin) two of the toughest guys around. You can't expect any easy matches in this tournament."

The 21-year-old Hewitt improved to 60-15 and will seek his fifth title of the year against Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero. Only American Andre Agassi, who lost twice in the round-robin round, has five titles this season. Hewitt has been ranked No. 1 every week since November 19, 2001.

"Obviously I'm a little bit tired, but to tell you the truth, I'm not quite sure how I got through the last couple of matches," Hewitt added. "They were physically demanding and I think I went through the pain barrier there a couple of times against both guys. I've surivived two tough matches. One to go."

In the first semifinal, Ferrero rallied for a 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-4 victory over Moya in the fifth all-Spanish matchup in the history of this season-ending tournament.

"I'm really happy to be in the final for the first time," Ferrero said. "I'm the same player as two months ago on hard court, but finally I could play my tennis, my good tennis, on this surface. I'm really happy for that and I hope that in the next year I'm going to try to give my best also in hard court, not only in this tournament."

The 22-year-old Ferrero improved to 7-2 lifetime against Moya and 48-24 this year. Ferrero is seeking his third title in 2002 and is trying to become the third Spaniard after Alex Corretja (1998) and Manuel Orantes (1976) to win this event. Ferrero will finish the year ranked No. 3 if he defeats Hewitt.

Sunday's winner collects $700,000 and new Mercedes-Benz CLK320.

If I read this one more time I will SCREAM! He was INJURED for crying out loud. It played a significant part in his "mental block". There's no reason why he should freeze now. He's not afraid of the big occasions and anyway, RG means more to him than this. Enough of this. :fiery:

It is hard to believe that sometime in the middle of the morning tomorrow, the last tennis match of the year will be played. But we have Davis Cup the first weekend of December, and then it will only be a few weeks until the Australian tourneys start. We'll make it ;)

Mm, I too like the swimmer physique

My favorite swimmer is Dutch Pieter van den Hoogenband

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/art/sports/olympics/sydney_00/photogallery/day3/photo04.jpg

He won 4 gold medals in Sydney, beating out Ian Thorpe :)

My school is known for its swim team, and consequently we have lots of competitive European swimmers recuited to come over ;) There's another kid from Latvia who is planning to be in the 2004 Olympics for his country :)

Anyway, no it doesn't make it any easier to talk to him, because no only is he good-looking, he talks about as much as I do in class (not much) and I think we lead completely different lifestyles. So I don't want to go there.

But if he remembers me as the Toblerone girl, I guess that wouldn't be such a bad thing :o;)

I can totally relate. The only people I ever get interested in are either freinds or acquaintances though.

I never just like perfect strangers. But it's impossible for me to do anything about it when I DO like peole, because I assume they just won't like me back or something.

I don't really know why I feel like that now - I guess it's based on a couple times I got turned down in highschool or something.

But yeah - due to all of this I NEVER date. The only guys who ever approach me, are scum in bars. I'm not interested in picking up at a bar :p

TennisHack

GOD DAMMIT!! ::continuing string of expletives::

The live scores thread has degenerated into a mess and I'm thisclose to deleting the whole damn thing. We're all on edge already and it doesn't help when you have people like Jorge and Hurley and Martinatreue just egging people on. They have long gone on my ignore list for the night but it's obvious I'm the only one who's done that.

I just can't stand it in there, I just CAN'T STAND IT!

And Juanqui . . . Goddammit, this is why it's so hard to love you. What the hell is going on out there? This is turning into RG simplified and it fucking sucks. IT FUCKING SUCKS, you aren't supposed to lose to Hewitt, YOU CAN'T LET HIM GET TO YOU LIKE THIS!! I've killed the scoreboard because I can't bear to follow it anymore.

TennisHack

Some lyrics

Canīt keep

I wanna shake
I wanna wind out
I wanna leave
(this) mind and shut

Iīve lived
All this life
Live an ocean
In disguise
I donīt live for
Ever
You canīt keep
Me here

I wanna race
With the sundown
I want a last breath
I donīt let out

Forgive
Every being
The bad feelings
Itīs just me
I wonīt wait
For answers
You canīt keep
Me here

I wanna rise
And say goodnight
Wanna take
A look on the other side

Iīve lived
All these lives
Itīs been wonder
Full at night
I will live for
Ever
You canīt keep
Me here.

Juan Carlos, this is why it's so easy to love you--your fighting spirit has brought you to completely level this match. You've pushed through the RG barrier and levelled the match with impressive play!!

Gonna save you fucker...
Not gonna lose you
Feeling cocky and strong...
Canīt let you go...
Too important to me

Too important to us...
Weīd be lost without you
Baby, let yourself fall...
Iīm right below you now

And fuck me if I say something you donīt wanna hear
And fuck me if you only hear what you wanna hear
Fuck me if I care...
But Iīm not leaving here

You helped me when I was down...
Iīll help you when youīre down
Why are you hitting yourself?
Cīmon hit me instead

Letīs pick up your will...
Itīs grown fat and lazy
Iīm sympathetic as well...
Donīt go on me now

And Iīm not living this life without you, Iīm selfish and clear
And youīre not leaving here without me, I donīt wanna be without my best...
Friend.
Wake up, to see you could have it all

Cause there is but you...
And something within you
Itīs taken control...
Letīs beat it, get up letīs go!

Oh youīre in your own world, letīs see the whole world
Letīs pick up your soul

And fuck me if I say something you donīt wanna hear
And fuck me if you only hear the treble in your head
Please help...
me...
to help you...
Help yourself

Help me help yourself...
Please want me to...
Please let me to

Help you

Dissident
11-17-2002, 11:03 AM
No, thats not possible. Juanqui was VERY GOOD throughout the whole match. You cant take it away from him.
Im not THAT upset, since he played so well, and was the better player from the third set on.
He takes things in small steps, and he is going forwards every season. He was semifinalist at Roland Garros twice, this year he went a step further. Same happened with the Cup.
He is a better player on hard, had some very good results on indoor, the season was very good.
We are all upset now, since he lost this match, which he could very well have won.
But think this way: he gave himself a chance. A HUGE chance. Thats nothing to be ashamed of at all. He was there and did the best. Just some details were not perfect.
Maybe next year he will take both steps missing. And end the season with both the trophies. RG, The Cup, and maybe even the Number One. Who knows? ;)

TennisHack
11-17-2002, 11:03 AM
Becca, you can't get too down on Ferrero :( Yeah, he lost and I'm angry at him, but he's probably just as angry at himself.

Hewitt is going to burn himself out soon enough and stop being such a fucking pest. He better thank everyone long and hard for helping him get where he is, because God knows he didn't do it himself this year.

TennisHack

We can't be bitter about this, that would be stooping too far below ourselves. We are the best fans because we have stuck by him through thick and thin. He played his heart out and his ass off and just came up a little bit short.

There's no way he choked in this match, and I think it's very appropriate that Hewitt apologized to him. He knows someone was smiling down on him today--Kimmy ;) and hopefully, that his time at the top is limited.

Juanqui just needs to take a huge break, and he can do that for the rest of the year. Next year, he will continue to prive his critics wrong. I mean, he managed to turn PMac's heart, and you know how hard that thing is :D

Yeah, I totally stopped going to non-tennis and I used to be there all the time in the beginning. :( Some threads in the non-tennis of wtaworld are still great and I've had some very nice and intelligent discussions, especially about music and the psychological stuff. I just ignore the nasty ones.

I'll only get to see about 1-1/2 hours of this epic final this afternoon on TV but it was a real heartbreaker!!!! Juanqui should be proud of his achievements this week!! He played his best tennis and forced Hewitt to do the same to beat him. He, like Rogi, is getting ever so close to taking home the coveted trophy!! He'll do it!!

And PMac is a hypocrite!!! So there!

What a year it's been!!! I'm exhausted... but there's still a matter of the DC -- so I'm rooting for RUSSIA!!! [I'm hoping there was a reason that Marat went home early from Shanghai... DAVAI RUSSIYA!]

Hello Thread!:wavey:

My sentiments to all of you on Juanqui's loss, i was rooting for him quietly at Roger's and kept out of the Master's thread. Thanks, Hackie, for keeping me company. I've recovered from Rogi's loss yesterday, but really felt bad about it. He did choke, and i was mad & upset about that too....i don't want him to have the Jana Novotna syndrome.

Onwards to the next season then...i hope too that Juanqui wins RG next year, and Rogi, Wimby? I'll dream on in the meantime...

Congrats Layla on your 6000. :)

Leo, great wedding pics of Justine & Yves Pierre! Thanks. They look good together, don't they? :)

:) HI again!

You know Juanqui did not choke -- I blame his loss on PMac for jinxing him by saying he would win...

Ditto for Rogi...

A choker does not give his all and fight to the bitter end to lose to the No 1 player.

They both did what they could -- you have to give credit to Hewitt!! He's unique and worked hard to win today.

Anyhow - appologies to fellow fans, who might have been offended by my negative behavior.

Essentially this is everything going on in my life, bubbling over.

All I needed was a trigger, and I got one.

Essentially I need to spend less time focussing on things that don't matter. If I get this emotional over a flipping tennis match then there is clearly something wrong with me.

Thus, I should cut back significantly untill I figure out what that is.

By the way - a funny side note - Jorge, sent me like a ten paragraph PM informing such things as how he was sorry, and pyscholanalysing me, and it went from nice to insulting.

I mean WOW - what a loser. I thought that I had problems. Makes me feel better knowing that it could be a lot worse.

More lyrics from Riot Act ;)

Love boat captain

is this just another day,... this god forgotten place?
first comes love, then comes pain. let the games begin,...
questios rise and answers fall,... insurmountable.

love boat captain
take the reigns and steer us towards the clear,... here.
its already been sung, but it cant be said enough,
all you need is love

is this just another phase? earthquakes making waves,...
trying to shake the cancer off? stupid human beings,...
once you hold the hand of love,... its all surmountable.

hold me, and make it the truth,...
that when all is lost there will be you,...
cause to the universe i dont mean a think
and theres just one word i still believe
and its love

its an art to live with pain,... mix the light into grey,...
lost 9 friends well never know,... 2 years ago today.
and if our lives became too long, would it add to our regret?

and the young, they can lose hope cause they cant see beyond
today,...
the wisdom that the old cant give away
hey,...
constant recoil,...
sometimes life
dont leave you alone.

hold me, and make it the truth,...
that when all is lost there will be you
cause to the universe i dont mean a thing
and theres just one word i still believe and its
love,... love. love. love. love.

love boat captain
take the reigns,.. steer us towards the clear.
i know its already been sung,... cant be said enough.
love is all you need,..... all you need is love,....
love,... love,...

love

every life is falling down
brown to black, its coming back,...
dies to be part of the ground
seed to seedling, root to stem.

eyes, no eyes, theres no difference,...
every life is looking in
swallowing seeds on the deathbed,...
dig a hole in,.. the graden.

everyone is practicing,....
but this worlds an accident.
i was the fool because i thought

i thought the world
turns out the world thought me
its all the other way round
weīre upside down

dad, heīs gone up in flames,...
but this aint no movie
this aint no book you can close
when the big lie hits your eye.

everybodys practicing,.....
our worlds an accident.
i was the fool because i thought

let the fluency set it down.
theres an upside of down.

the moon is rolling round the world

Hey, Hitman!

Is Riot Act really that good? It was in the papers yesterday on their cd review and it's just been released here...
I'm trying to get new things to bring along to my island hopping adventures...

1/2 FULL

CLIMBING ON A MOUNTAIN
FLOATING OUT ON THE SEA
FAR FROM LIGHTS OF A CITY
THE ELEMENTS THEY SPEAK TO ME,....

WHISPERING THAT LIFE
EXISTED LONG BEFORE GREED,....
BALANCING THE WORLD
ON ITS KNEE,....

DONT SEE SOME MEN AS 1/2 EMPTY
SEE THEM AS 1/2 FULL OF SHIT
THINKING THAT WEīRE ALL BUT SLAVES
THERE AINT GONNA BE,....

NO MIDDLE ANYMORE
ITīS BEEN SAID BEFORE
THE HAVES BE HAVING MORE
YET STILL BORED,...

WONT SOMEONE SAVE?
WONT SOMEONE SAVE,...
THE WORLD?

You're asking help from me? ;)

I'm the craziest person around here, I think you will have to look elsewhere.

I have a wicked headache, and chest pains - sleep didn't get rid of them.

ANyhow, I think I know why I'm acting so out of whack. I went back on some meds a month ago, and this is my first monthly visit on them again - so my hormones are yelling at each other :D

Just thought that you might all want to know :wavey:

And hitman, I hope that it works out :D

Hi guys! :wavey:

Becca, you didn't offend anyone. Btw, there's nothing wrong with getting emotional over a tennis match. Why shouldn't you care about things and why should tennis be something not worth getting passionate about as opposed to something else? I really did cry today, the second it was over and later when I saw Juanqui's sad, sad eyes. Shush, there are go crying again.

I still haven't forgotten about Jorge either, so I just need to vent for a few more seconds. Bear with me, I'll stop afterwards. ;) I forgot to mention that Jorge didn't stop with his perverse and disgusting sex talk even after I told him Emma was 15 and that's not just sick, it's also punishable by law. I'm serious about this. Making sexual advances and talking dirty to minors (under 16) on the internet is a crime, unless I'm totally mistaken. The same goes for Barrie. There I said it. :fiery: I really am disgusted with this. I know no one takes it seriously, but it should be serious.

Anyway, I feel a little bit better, but not a lot. I still feel slightly nautious and very, very sad. But I know it will pass.

I cant find any position to stay in, coz it feels bizarre.
I ate too much at lunch because Im nervous, and now I feel sick
Im dizzy and slept like shit for the last 5 days.
My gf cant stand my TERRIBLE mood anymore. I feel like crap because Im like that, yet I cant help being different right now.
And I have a TERRIBLE feeling as well.
We have to win this fucking match, on the road, and there are 40thousand nuts there wanting our blood.
Its VERY hot there, and they will play on 3pm sun.

I have nothing to worry about...
Oh well, it will be better as soon as the match finishes.
Two options:
1. Ill be as happy as you never seen me b4
2. Ill be devastated.

Layla - I still spare you quoting them, but Jorge used to send me PMs where he informed me he had "steamy dreams" about me.

I kid you not.

That is the more mild of things he said.

At first, when he first started saying things to me, I thought it was a little funny, and DID provoke him a bit - because as I said, it was funny.

But then I realized it was gross.

Anyhow - did you read Ferrero's interview? Ican't find it? And he was really down, was he?

Why don't they ever go his way

Well if you are number 1 i'm happy for you.

If you are number 2, you are in good company, as I'm still crying - it HAS to be the medication, as I explained.

The urge to change this title to "Reality Bites" is overwhelming, but I won't ;)

QUESTION: Very close match, very tight for you. Were you a little bit disappointed and did you think you had very good chances?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Of course, I had 5?3 in the first set and then I lost 7?5, I think, in the second, he take the advantage, but, you know, I come back with good tennis again and I was trying to win the sets is 5 again and then, you know, I think he was a little bit tighter, then I start to play more accuracy with my forehand and then in the fifth set, everybody knows the story, you know. He's a tough guy, you know, he didn't do a lot of mistakes, I take at 3?1, but, you know, finally I lost the match. That's it.

QUESTION: You've now played a final in China. You've won the title in Hong Kong. You've done it on hard court. How do you feel really about your game this year, big year for you?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Right now, I don't feel very happy, but, you know, if I'm thinking in the year, you know, I have to be happy because, you know, I didn't start the year well with the injuries and right now I finish the year really good playing the good tennis, you know, doing the final here in Masters, you know, taking a lot of chance to win. So, you know, seeing the whole year, I'm really happy.

QUESTION: If it's true that we learn more from a loss, what do you learn today about yourself and about Hewitt?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I have to live, you know, to pass more time to say something. You know, right now I'm not thinking in the match. Maybe tomorrow I'm going to sit with my coach and see what's happened today but, you know, maybe I have to learn from him that he has a good talent in the important moment, you know, and in the fifth set, you know, with 3?1 down, he was still, you know, win the match, be positive and then, you know, he win the match. So I have to learn something off him.

QUESTION: This is your second big final of the year in addition to Roland Garros. In both matches, you lost the first two sets. Can you talk about your performance today versus Roland Garros? Second, can you also just talk about what is it about Hewitt's game that makes him the most difficult person to beat in the world.
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: No, in Roland Garros I had a lot of problems in my, you know, physically and I couldn't play my level like today, you know, and I lost the first two sets and, you know, and then I would be a set, but, you know, in any moment I couldn't play, you know, with happy tennis, you know, and I think here was sort of different, you know, between the final in Roland Garros and this final, you know, I know I lost the first two sets, but in the first set, I had 5?3 and I had opportunity to win the set and then, you know, I come back very strong, you know, winning the two sets easy, 6?2, 6?2, and, you know, I think is nothing the same between the final here and Roland Garros. About Hewitt, you know, he has a very good talent. He never do full mistake, you know, and in important moment, he always be there, you know. You have to win the point. He never going to miss the ball and, you know, in important moment, it's very important to do this.

QUESTION: How do you look back to this Masters Cup, the whole week?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: You know, watching the whole week, I feel really good, you know, just lost two matches. I played really good against very good players. So is the first final for me. So, you know, I feel so great right now. I have to be happy.

QUESTION: Moya beat Carlos to make Hewitt qualify and Hewitt got the championship. Would you complain to Moya?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Of course not.
QUESTION: Today's match, you know, most of the audience are supporting you. For the sake of the audience, will you come back to Shanghai and give us such great tennis again?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Yeah, of course I want to give thanks to all the people who are supporting me in the match, not only today, during the whole week and I hope to come back some day. Why not?

QUESTION: Is the French Open your biggest ambition in your tennis career? Do you want to win the French Open?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Is a special tournament because it is very close from Spain and we like the clay and it's a good tournament. I like so much, but it's not only the one tournament I want to win in my life. I want to win a lot of tournaments and Roland Garros is one of these.

QUESTION: Just going back to the competition, is there any moment during the match that you thought you can win the match?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: What you think? On 3?1 in the fifth, of course I thought that I can win the match, but finally I couldn't do it.

QUESTION: This tournament, which one is your best match?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I think the matches against Agassi, Moya and this one was really good and I don't know exactly which one I'm going to keep it, but today because was five sets, very good tennis.

He was seemed really sad just after the match but by the time he was giving the speech, he seemed to have gained his composure. He wasn't as devastated as that other time. And I see Mrs. B has just posted the interview, so I'll go read it. ;)
