:wavey: every1. I'm back.

I read JC's interview, was he a little edgy or what:D But I like that.:p

I should post it here. I hope it's not posted yet since I haven't read any of your posts for today yet.

QUESTION: Your fellow Spaniard Costa said that Spanish players are the best in the world right now, but Moya said that he can't really tell for sure. What is your opinion?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I think we are a lot of players in the top 100, so I think we are the biggest in the world right now, Spanish guys, I think so.

QUESTION: Your next match will be against your countryman Moya. You said before the tournament your goal in this Masters Cup is to win the tournament. Do you think you can overcome Moya in your next match?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I think I can because I did it before, you know, and tomorrow we'll see what's going to happen tomorrow, but, you know, I know Moya very good. I know how I have to play against him. So tomorrow I'm going to go to the court with a lot of confidence and, you know, I think it's going to be a long match. That's it.

QUESTION: You lose to Kuerten in the French Open. You lose to Kuerten in the semifinal and then you lose to Costa in the final. So have you thought about next year's French Open and would you make better?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I hope so, you know, I want to win Roland Garros some day and if it's next year, it will be great, you know. I lost in the last three years' semifinals, semifinal, semifinal, and I hope to win the tournament next year. If not, I have more years to try it.

QUESTION: You said before that the surface is a bit slower than the courts in Paris two weeks ago. Does it suit your style? Do you feel more tiring playing here than in Paris?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I feel great here, you know, and in Paris was a little bit faster than here, so was not the reason because I lost in first round because I like to play surface maybe faster than this, you know, but here I felt very great and I hope just to play in the tournament.

QUESTION: How do you compare this surface with clay?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I said again, I said yesterday, it's not compared, you know, to clay. Clay is clay.

QUESTION: There's a saying in Chinese that you play catch?up towards the end. You didn't start off the tournament too well, but then you performed better the last two matches. Do you have your sights set on winning the tournament now?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Of course I want to win the tournament. What question is this?

QUESTION: Someone said your style is quite familiar with your countryman Bruguera.
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Do you think so?

QUESTION: Someone said. So you know Bruguera won the French Open twice. By now you still haven't got the French Open. So which victory do you think is the most important to you in the past? Who is your idol, your favourite tennis player ever, lifetime? Why do you support Real Madrid Football Club?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I support Real Madrid because for me is the best team in the world. Second one, the best victory I think was the Davis Cup, we won it in 2000. And my idol was Agassi, Sampras, you know.

I don't remember, because I didn't get to see the whole match. :( But I know I was crowing :D and everyone thought I was insane.

I was doing the same thing at TMS Indian Wells when they showed Micha's first round clash with Agassi. I've also already told that story, LOL :o

What the hell kind of questions are those?!?!?! Does he want to win the tournament?!?! What did they expect him to say? "No, I can't believe I got this far"?!

AND STOP WITH THE ROLAND GARROS QUESTIONS ALREADY!!

Who would the US play? Roddick, Blake, and Todd Martin (egads!)?! Oh, I think they could sweep, too.

Though James would give them a run for their money :D

:wavey: Hi Vera :wavey:

Juanqui seemed to be very annoyed with some questions in all his interviews in China. I am not sure whether the problem comes from translation. Also, tennis is quite new to a lot of Chinese reporters there and it seems they asked a lot of stupid questions. I didn't consider those questions stupid if you are not following tennis but Juanqui felt that way.

I'm also sick and tired of the clay hard court questions. How many times do they have to ask that. How come they never ask American players questions like "why do you suck on clay?"

I was so nervous during my speech that I flubbed most of it and it was very embarrassing :o :(

I totally blew the history final because my professor put things on there I'd never even heard of! :(:( But luckily, everyone else in both classes (history & stats) also had a hard time, so now I'm praying for a curve.

Ouch! I hate it when that happens (getting the question about something I've never heard of). :( I hope you did ok anyway.

When this board first started up, I was like *yay* a jcf forum (yahoo clubs don't really do it for me, so somewhere to post with fellow - well informed - fans was great!). If i remember correctly, at first i was worried not many people would post in here and made like 50 threads about anything and anyone ;) Then I realized there were lots of you and I didn't need to do that so much :D

So I cut back for a while, and was buggering off at wtaworld, and hardly posted here at all.

But well I got sick of the lame drama at wtaworld, and had some fallings out with some people who turned out to be something totally different from what they had appeared.

So I can't be bothered with all of that, and it's just wonderful here (isn't it?) :D

It's active, everyone gets along, we talk about tennis but we can talk about other things too -

YAY US ;)

Amen to that. :) You summed us up perfectly. ;) I'm really, really glad you're back at the atpworld more often. I missed you. :(

At the wtaworld, everything turns into a fight. Sometimes the non-tennis threads are great, but often they become a handful. I go there if I want to get my blood pressure up. :p It works everytime.

Hehehe, thank you. They are mighty good lately. They started getting boos for not being able to win at home in the previous 5-6 home games. And then, they were horrible in the first period on tuesday's game and I was so sure they will lose miserably. But nope, never look down on your own team:D . They came back with a storm and beat the hottest team in the league (the Blues, first loss on the Road for the Blues, I think). And yesterday, 3 goals in 14 shots:eek: (14 shots, that's quite bad).

Sorry, I got carry away, too excited that they are finally finding the net. :D

I know. Good that they dumped those laser spoted pucks very soon. Learning to follow the puck is part of the fun in hockey for me.

I still remember my first NHL hockey game. It's in 1988 Halloween night. My hubby and I just moved to Calgary and my hubby joined his company just a week or 2. His boss gave him 2 hockey tickets. You're right, supporting your school team is very important. But for those college football matches that dominates the airwaves in Saturday is a bit too much. Most of the ppl watching the game know nothing about the colleges those football teams represent.

Every Saturday, I watched my son play soccer. The parents, etc screams, shouts, claps, etc and its so much fun. And no one pay any attention to the other teams playing right next to us.

There are more photo galleries there, I'm unsure why the players don't wear more body protection, it's quite a rough contact sport, and a lot of players get injured during the season.

I wonder that too. The way they play in Rugby, it hurts to see sometimes. My friend said they use headband to cover the ears to avoid ppl's ear from gotten tear off. I thought he was joking.

But if you watch hockey, you wonder how come these players can play every other days. The sport is so rough. It hurts big time to just watch them got hit into the board. They then bounce back on their feet like nothing happen.

First of all, congrats to Dr Peedy on his acchievement.
Second, congrats to Juanqui on the great match today. :)
Third, congrats to my local tv station doing the coverage of the tournament. They were (and still are) SUPERB. I got ALL the matches, live and uncut. And I taped a huge bunch of them as well. Couldnt be any happier, just sad that Guga is not there. How can a Masters Cup be a Masters Cup without Gugs? :(

Im dealing as well as possible (that means terribly) lol
Anyway, theres nothing I can do but cheer. We had three matches interesting us last night, two of them worked perfectly well, and the other worked well enough.
But we still have to win the match on the road, and one match especifically needs to be a draw.
It seems better, but its still a nightmare. Anyway...
I feel a lot better now, yes. The grand match is on Sunday.
Thanks for caring, btw :)

Talking about our coverage, I need to also thank the commentators here on their praise to Juan Carlos. They seem to love the guy. They say he is one of the most gutsy players out there, and that he has one of the best forehands and all.
Im still waiting for them to say he is one of the top three (if not the top) defensive player of the ATP.
What he did to save some balls today was out of this world.

usually my commentators are so hateful to Juan Carlos but today Cliffy was acting like he was his #1 player! i loved how he stood up to Pat McEnroe when it was claimed that Ferrero was not a good returner and would never have excellent hard court results. Cliffy was full of compliments for Ferrero today and it put a big smile on my face. :)

As I said, my day was pretty good, especially coz it was a holiday and we went downtown.
First, we went to the book fair once again, and I bought 3 books to myself and one to my little sister, who is seeing art on school and loves Cezanne. I gave her a book about him. :)

After that, we went to the museum to see Paris 1900 art exo again. I could take my time a lot better this turn. :)
So many kickass paintings and sculptures, especially
Cezanne´s Ambroise Vollard´s portrait,
Steck´s Ophelie (AMAZING painting),
Giron´s La Parisienne,
Clairin´s Sarah Bernhardt Portrait,
Pelez´ Sans Asile,
Berteux´ Souvenir de la fête nationale,
Desvallières´ En Soirée - Madam Pascal Blanchard
and Cormon´s Les Races Humaines

And also the wonderful scuplture
Rodin´s Amour et Psyché

Anyway, it was very good, and we came back all exhausted after about 4 hours walking around. And we still went to the park to walk the dog. Very good day. :)

Safin played awesome tennis in the second set, and especially the start of the third set. But that was pretty much it.
Hewitt was a lot more consistent throughout the match. And thats why he won. Marat seemed to be tired during the whole tournament, and this match was not different.

Tired mentally, I mean.

Moya, Ferrero Fly Flag for Spain

By Bill Scott
Spain's mighty tennis Armada found smooth sailing in Shanghai, placing Carlos Moya and Juan Carlos Ferrero into the semifinals of the Masters Cup.

The hottest nation in tennis is missing only Albert Costa, beaten 7-6 (9-7), 3-6, 6-4 by Moya in a grueling Red group match on the final day of round robin play.

Ferrero, the Spanish number 1, overcame Czech Jiri Novak 7-5, 6-3 to move into a match-up with Moya, whose game has caught fire this season with four titles after several years of back problems which hindered his progress.

The other semifinal will be contested between Lleyton Hewitt, who renewed the lease on his world number 1 crown for another season after his performance this week, and Switzerland's Roger Federer, a dangerous first-time Masters Cup participant.

Moya and Costa, a pair of French Open winners, dueled for nearly three hours before Moya squeaked out the victory. Costa took on-court treatment for a back problem which troubled him last month and said he was proud of his effort this week in China.

"I'm disappointed not to reach the semifinals, but I've played 100 percent this week and I'm pleased with my performance," said the reigning Roland Garros champion. "I'm playing good tennis.

"I couldn't do any more. The other qualified and I didn't, but I did all I could."

Moya is riding a run of form which has yielded four titles this season and thrust the 26-year-old from Mallorca back into a leading role in the game.

Coming into the match, both men knew that Costa would have to win to join his compatriot in the last four. It was a struggle from the start, with the outcome finally turning on a break of serve in the last game as Moya got through.

"It was a long match, but I didn't expect it to be easy," said Moya. "I'm happy that I played tough. I tried to do my best."

The Spaniard said that the ramifications of the regarding the semifinal lineup made the pressure all that more intense. "But I've been in tough situations before in my career.

"Maybe I've changed because of them. I gave everything that I had and tried not to think of the situation."

Moya won't have much time to ponder anything as he takes on Ferrero for a place in the finale. Ferrero beat Novak for the fourth time in five meetings to earn his place.

Look for some unexpected finalists
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Patrick McEnroe
Special to ESPN.com

These are two great semifinal matchups between players who know each other very well. Lleyton Hewitt is 5-2 against Roger Federer, and Juan Carlos Ferrreo and Carlos Moya are very good friends who have played many times. Moya's the old guy, and he's only 26, and the rest of the semfinalists are all young guns.

McEnroe's Take

Obviously, Moya has been playing better recently, having not lost a match in the round robin. He's so on form he should be the favorite -- despite the fact that Ferrero has beaten him six times, although most of those wins have come on clay.

So although I think Moya is overall a better hard-court player, I believe that Ferrero will win this match because I think Moya's three-set victory against Costa on Friday took a lot out of him. He looked extremely tired at the end of the match. And quite often when two baseline players with similar styles go at it, the one with the fresher legs usually prevails. So look for Ferrero to win this.

The second match has the makings of being a classic, with Hewitt, the No. 1 player in the world, and Federer, so far this week looking like the future No. 1 player of the world. Federer's all-court game has been clicking on all-cylinders this week.

Federer is full of confidence and his game on this relatively slow hard court matches up very well with Hewitt. Hewitt has struggled in all his matches this week and if Federer can play with consistency and keep his head together, I think he'll upset Hewitt.

So there you have it, I'm going for the two underdogs. But it's certainly nice to see three out of the four semifinalists all of the coming generation: Hewitt, Federer and Ferrero. So the new generation, at least this week, has firmly taken over.

Talking about our coverage, I need to also thank the commentators here on their praise to Juan Carlos. They seem to love the guy. They say he is one of the most gutsy players out there, and that he has one of the best forehands and all.
