:( Hi all!

Just got caught up... so, it was bad for Juanqui, eh? I'm so sad for him. :( I hope other guys lose so that he can still be in the running. Is that possible?? Does anyone know?

ILR

I'm very sorry to hear about your Grandfather. I know what it's like to lose a member of your family recently. It's hard right now but you just think of all those wonderful memories of him -- nobody can take them away from you and your family. [Your aunt's comment re: Rogi's win was so touching!! Makes my cry! :( :) ]

Hey Emma, sorry about your grandad, my condolence to your family. Just remember that he's in a better place now.

A very sad day, I just logged on to internet and was shocked that Juanqui lost to Paradorn. The match is barely 1 hour or so. As well as I thought I've prepared for this loss, I can't help but cry so hard. Must be very disappointing for Juanqui to lose like that. I hope he's alright physically and mentally. Just think about what you've accomplished this year, Juanqui, it's been so difficult but you've overcame a lot of obstacles. We fans are really proud of you. So just get some rest, prepare yourself for the big tourney in Shanghai.

Now I have to get out of the house. I thought I should cheer for Seb bcos I want him to move on badly. But just all energy and mood disappear at the moment and I don't really want to care about any result anymore, at least at the moment.

Anyway, lots of you have a good day as your fave moved on, congrats. Hope everyone a better day for the rest of the day. Ciao.

If I am correct, JC has a very good chance to Shanghai.

Of all players remaining, only Rogi, Tim, Moya, Hass and Roddick have a chance to pass JC. JC is currently at 4 in the race and he has to stay at top 7. Rogi and Hass meet at next round so only one of them can pass JC. Moya and Tim may meet at semi-final, so again only one of them can pass JC. Roddick need to win to pass JC which is not likely so I believe we can cheer on JC in Shanghai.

!!!!!!!!

I logged on after talking to my tennis-watching buddy and was greeted by that proclamation in the GM forum. UGH. Sometimes I wish Paradorn's fans weren't so damn overzealous :fiery:

Someone posted the match stats in that thread and Juan Carlos didn't play bad at all! Paradorn was just on a tear.

As for as the Champions' Race goes, there have been rumors flying that Rogi will need a semifinal appearance to qualify, probably the same or more for Tommy. Jiri Novak lost today, too, so that gives Juanqui a little cushion of points. Even if he doesn't officially "qualify" on points totals, he will still be there, I'm sure :)

If he gets a lower seed than #4 that might be quite beneficial as well. So, we'll see ;)

Should I talk about tennis now? Maybe not.

Oh Juanqui!      I'm too depressed to even talk about it. Apart from RG final, this is the most devastating loss this year for me. And Paradorn's overzealous fans have never grated my nerves more. :fiery: No, I don't want to talk about it.

Right, no mercy from now on. I'm not going to cheer for anyone who stands a chance to qualify anymore, not even for Timmy. So Tim, Tommy, Carlos, Rogi, I'm sorry, but you're not on my good luck list this week. :( Even if it breaks my heart that I'm not able to cheer for them.

I will only cheer for those who don't stand a chance to go to Shanghai, first and foremost for Sebastien, who is also the crowd favorite here. :)

I saw that, too, and Lily and I were talking about it in the Rogi forum. I was thisclose to saying something, and I will next time they pull shit like that. But since I was already screamed at this morning for making the observation that cheering for someone to lose (giddily, I might add) was very negative, I figured I better not look like the oversensitive/overdefensive fan on this one.

Hi Lee and TH! :wavey:

Lol, yes let's turn our attention to doubles. ;)

I just posted a reply to the issue of Paradorn's fans in Rogi's forum. As for the other issue, I don't think it's very sensitive to diss a player in the cheering threads and call him names (Timmy got called an idiot). And some people just cheer against someone even if they don't care one bit for his opponent. It's ok to do so in forum chat threads like this one, but not in a cheering thread where the opponent's fans are bound to be present as well. :( In the cheering threads, I try to refrain myself from negative comments and I don't like using frases like "send so-and-so packing". But it seems like not many people agree with me.

I don't guess the negative stuff by Eggy & zosse ever really bothered me, because it seems they also pick on their player as well. But when jrm was all "YESSS! He's losing!" I was taken aback.

Oh no, actually I got up on a very good sid of the bed. ;) I wasn't referring to Eggy and Zosse, I know who thier faves are. I was referring to Judio. And I've noticed that about jrm before in other cheering threads. I remember all he said was how happy he was all the people he hated were out, and said absolutely nothing about being happy anyone won.

I've cursed and dissed players here before when I was really mad, but I tend to reserve that for out chat thread, I wouldn't post that in GM or in the cheering thread where it might inflame or upset others. I don't think there's anything wrong with criticism, but that doesn't even count as criticism. Oh well, I know we all have to vent.

I felt like I stumbled into a sci-fi movie.

lol. Notre Dame was beautiful, i have to agree. i also loved the Eiffel Tower lit up at night. did you take the elevator to the top? frightening on the way up, but definitely worth it b/c of the breathtaking view. :) i never got to walk in La Defence, which would have been really nice, but i heard it was a cool experience.

Right, but still doesn't mean they are good enough. 3 wins in 10 games, I'm not too happy. And Minnesota is our division leader, what the hell. I mean, what's going on with hockey, Minnesota and Tampa Bay are the 2 leaders in their respective conference, just gotta be a joke. But I really don't care, Canucks just need to do better. I'm tired of them digging a deep hole for themselves every season early on.

Err, I skipped Moulin Rouge. :o Never been too excited about it.

Sure I went up the Eiffel Tower. I actually walked up the stairs as far up as I could. I loved it. And once at the top, I took so many pictures it was embarrasing. :p But hey, I always get excited when I climb up to a beautiful view. ;)

Okay, forget about global warming. I said yesterday that it's really warm here. But what a difference one day makes. A cold front hits the Pacific Northwest and we had a record cold night last night, a -1 celcius. Right now is only about 6 degree C. So prepare for the cold winter all around, maybe.

Good though it's still sunny out there. We actually have a water shortage bcos of the lack of rain in the past months. That's unheard of in the never-stop-rainning Pacific Northwest. Well, I'm not complaining. :)

You know, I've never really been one for musicals. I don't know why, they just don't really click with me. I have West Side Story which I listen to all the time, but I think that's more because I like Leonard Bernstein than musicals :o:o

AND GOOD NEWS!!

Federer, Ferrero Shanghai Bound

Roger Federer and Juan Carlos Ferrero secured their berths to Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai when fellow contender Tim Henman lost his third-round match to Nicolas Escude 6-4, 6-2 Thursday at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.

"If there's a possibility and I qualify for the Masters, then if all's gone well, I'd still like to play. But once this season is done, I'm going to make sure that I get it right. And having spoken to the doctor, you know, he said this quite possibly can take a couple months. But he did, he certainly stressed that it's worth getting it right," said Henman, who has been plagued by a shoulder injury since Indianapolis.

Henman, who today sits seventh in the ATP Champions Race, will see his hopes end if eighth-place Carlos Moya defeats defending champion Sebastien Grosjean later today. Andy Roddick must reach the final to qualify.

Paris is wild card Escude's career-second quarterfinal of a Tennis Masters Series following Indian Wells last year. The 25-year-old Frenchman, who was out of action between July and September because of an abdominal injury, lost to the Brit in the second round in Basel last week.

"I don't think Tim served very well today. During the tournament in Basel, I was playing very well, but I was leading against him one set and a break in the second set. After, I lost my concentration. Today I keep my concentration from first point to the last point. So that's what make the difference," said the Frenchman.

Yeah I feel better today.:) After all everyones comforting words Ive been thinking that its all true about his good life.He has children and grandchildren and so many good friends etc.

Rogis is Shanghai!!!Im so pleased for him!!!:bounce: After his slump, losing 1st round at RG and Wimb things looked a bit bleak, but he picked up and played so well and Im really pleased!:D

Hi everyone! :wavey:

I'm full of conflicting emotions. Most of all I'm OVERJOYED that Ferrero qualified for Shanghai! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I love you darling! Now I will get to see you play against other top players.

But I'm not so happy it happened at the expense of Timmy. Now I'm cheering even harder for Sebastien. Not just because I he is one of my top 6 faves and Carlos is not, but because that would keep Timmy's hope of qualifying alive. I know most of you would prefer to see someone else in there rather than him, but apparently Tim was the only player to be in top 10 of the race every single week of the year! THE ONLY ONE! How is that for consistency. I'm beginning to feel Novak is out of place. Sure, he was consistent, but Moya won 4 titles and Henman was even more consistent. Sorry Carlos, I do like you a lot, but my priorities are clear. ;)

I'm also sad about Tommy. Sure I'm happy for Roger. :) But if I had to choose which of the players to leave out of Shanghai, I'd say Novak.

Emma, glad to see you happy again! :D

Argh, why couldn't Thomas beat Andre. He had so many break points. :(

Anyway as I was saying, its not like I get sad a lot of the time I dont think. Some of my friends can be really sad or have mood swings sometimes.I just look on the bright side.lol.My best (boy) mate is just like me.Were just messing about all the time and being happy and crazy :p lol.We have a lot in common.I think hes the one I can talk to rather than any of my girl mates.Sorry bout that big post on me and my friends!:p

Errr, I didn't expect you to like the song, I meant did you like the video. I was impressed by the video.

My guest is out by himself. He is an artist and just love to explore the galleries and museums himself. I basically provide Bed & Breakfast for him.

lol people who listen to Joy Division and Nick Cave are not generally considered as sunny and happy. ;) I have two very different sides. One is happy and optimistic and loves to enjoy the little things in life, and the other is, well... not. :p I used to be more of the latter (depressed and pesimistic) but in the last few years I've been more of the former. But the two are wedded and can't be torn asunder. ;)

I didn't expect you to like the song very much because it's too mellow. ;)

Well that's good to hear. So he's not too much of a burden. :) I'm like that too. I like to explore things on my own. Not that museums and galleries are my first stop. :o I do enjoy them occasionally, but I can't spend too much time in a gallery or I go crazy. I would never be able to explore the whole of Louvre at one go. I do appreciate great paintings though, but my taste is very eclectic.

No need to worry. :D There's no reason why you shouldn't continue to be a happy, energetic person as you get older. You don't have to be a split personality like I am. ;)

Well, we should keep this good vibes going.

:)finally Guga/Pioline win the match and they are in doubles semi-final. I am happy although this comes from the expense of Daniel:)

Same in Slovenia. It's becoming more and more popular, but not really. Kids don't dress up and go trick or treating, it's just some adults who go out at night dressed up. We have mardis gras for that.

Hi everyone! :wavey:

A big sigh of relief that Juanqui got his confirmation. Now I can get over his loss, which on the hindsight, is not such a bad thing. I think after playing 6 straight tourneys, he really needs his rest, especially after he mentioned that he's tired last week before he played Gonzo, I was starting to worry. Anyway, now he can rest easy and feel refresh in Shanghai.

And congrats to Rogi too. Sorry Leo, that Haas lost. He could use some time to heal his body and prepare for the Aussie Open next year.

Now, I can't be too happy today, mix emotion for me. Seb lost:sad:   I know it's important for Carlos to win this but just can't help to get upset for Seb. Now he's gonna end the year outside Top 15. Zhenya also lost, and he's ending his year outside Top 25    I don't think he've ever ranked this low since he became a Top player. Pls Zhenya, you can't leave tennis in such low ranking, don't retire.

So, I do feel happy for Carlos to put himself into the position to get to Shanghai. Now, he better don't let the opportunity slip, bcos I will truly be very pissed if he, on Seb's expense, get himself a chance only to lose it to Ro-dick.

Hola, Nacho!

I noticed lately that Hallowe'en is more popular in Europe, esp. in France and Spain -- it's always been popular here! We love it! But it's not as safe for kids today -- too bad! Spoils their fun! So parents should accompany their kids when they go door-to-door for treats. ;)

Vera, what are you going to do for DC?? France vs. Russia!! Who will you cheer for? Won't you be torn?!! I'm surprised Seb lost in front of his public -- he usually does well in Paris. Too much pressure I guess -- as always! It just destroys players sometimes!

Me neither. I'm too lazy to be creative about dressing up. So I'll just be wearing my jersey and watch the hockey game at home.

Oh, I've been thinking about DC. Honestly, I'm really torn. I really like all the Frenchmen. Seb and Nico are my two big fave (BTW, really happy that Nico's back in form and play well at the moment, I'm cheering for him to win this whole thing). But I also like Clement and Mathieu. I originally was rooting for France. But then, Zhenya said he will retire and he wants DC badly, then I changed my mind thinking that I would like Russia to win the whole thing. Then, whenever I saw Seb and Nico (yes, I watched that little bit of coverage of Escude/Henman match this morning). I just thought, no way I can root against the Frenchmen. So I dunno, I'm very torn. I'll probably be upset for the loser no matter who loses.
