Anything to get closer to my future hometown, LOL ;)

I don't know if its been mentioned here, but Micha has (had?) the flu this week, so his chances are even worse now that he'll pass out of the first round :( Now when I'm standing in the store looking at the imported chocolate I'll definitely be thinking of him!

Michel has the flu? :( I hope he's feeling better already, especially if you've been sending him good vibes. :)

Finally some good news (for me anyway)! :) Rainer Schüttler won 6-1 6-2! :D

Alex has just begun to play but I have to run to my body attack class.

See ya later! :wavey: Fortunately, I don't have to be able to walk to come in here. ;)

Hello Vera. Congratulation for the win of your team. Is it the Canucks?

Vera

It's been a busy morning here, it seems. But I came late and everyone's gone? Oh well.

Layla, I hope you don't have to work so hard. Must be exhausted by all those works that you have.

And it hasn't been good for TH, Michel and Jarkko lost...Well, Juanqui will do better, for sure. I've never imagine him winning a title on carpet, to be honest. But then, he can qualify for Shanghai if he does it here, maybe that will give him extra motivation. Juanqui, please don't hesitate to surprise us with a run to the title here in Basel. Oh, Mrs. B, please tell us all about it.

England have only played 2 games, winning 1 and drawing the other.I think we'll qualify in second place behind Turkey.

Vera
10-22-2002, 06:30 PM
Well, Lee, sorry about the Flames. I thought they had a chance last year, with great goaltending and forwards.

Canucks hadn't had a consistent season, they either do well the first half then sucks at the second, or vice verse. It's always a roller coaster ride. Hope this season will be a consistent *good*. But I'll never give up on them.

Well, Vera, I was never a big Flames fan to start with. I think when you are a real fan, you will not give up on a team or player. I am a big fan of Pete Sampras and I believe in him before this year's US open even everyone think he is over in his tennis career.

Vera
10-22-2002, 06:41 PM
Oooops. Michel hasn't played yet. Sorry TH, I didn't mean to put a bad spell on him. Must have confused him with Bastl, another Swiss who did lose today.

Oh, Michel has a flu and he's playing Rogi tomorrow. Well, very bad luck for Michel. I'm still coughing from that flu I had and my body ache from all those coughing. It must be tough to be out there competing when you can't find any energy in your body. I hope he feels better today. But having said that, I don't prefer him to take out Rogi tomorrow though.

Vera

Vera

Ya, he's like a little boy trapped in a big man's body.

Juanqui is quite good at taking lost, he never looked too disappointed. He's one of those relax guy who thinks sometimes you lost, and that just happens. But he is not less determined to win. But that RG lost, his tear was swelling in the eyes but he managed not to let them out. That brokes my heart. I cried everytime I thought about that.

Okay, stop me from talking about RG again.

Tennis-Injured Mauresmo to miss WTA Championships

PARIS, Oct 22 (Reuters) - France's Amelie Mauresmo, the world number four, will miss the season-ending WTA Championships next month with a knee injury, her agent said on Tuesday.

Marie-Claude Previtali said Mauresmo, who pulled out of the Swisscom Challenge last week because of the injury, was effectively forced to call an end to her year.

"Amelie will effectively miss the Masters (WTA Championships in Los Angeles, November 4-10). She is forced to take a one-month break," she said.

"Her doctor, physiotherapist and her coach will meet tomorrow to decide what to do to help Amelie back on her feet as quickly as possible," Previtali added.

Yeah, my friend told me that they're made all over the place, I guess I just found the Danish version online. My Star Mix was made in England ;)

I'm sorry that you had to go before I got back, but guess what I found!! A huge (10.58 oz or 300 g) chocolate bar, Lindt of course, that was made in Bern!! I nearly had a stroke in the store, LOL. I'm trying to find a picture to attach, but I don't know how successful I'll be.

In reality, Momento is in another league, no comparison. I think the movie is a little too one-dimensional. And the last part, Robin Williams sitting in the room telling the detective how he's abused when he was a kid. That's the worse part of the movie IMO. I think that's a director is fault when you have to do it so deliberately, like that. That's why I think the movie lacks a little depth.

:o Oh nooooooooo... Memento is indeed A LOT better. But oh well, we all already knew critics were stupid, so... :o

Right I stopped working but now it's so late I'll have to read the thread tomorrow. ;)

Let me just say how sad I am that Alex lost today.   That was one weird match. Alex definitely wasn't himself in the first set, but Ivo was very impressive. At the beginning of the second set Alex was trailing again (lost his opening service game) but everything turned around when at 3-2 for Heuberger he started whacking some crazy returns. The first one was a mile out, but they just kept coming. He exhibited some devil-may-care attitude out there and it payed off. The others were in and they did the damage. Then Alex was fired up and he really came back strong, pummeling the ball left and right until he won the second set.

And then he came crashing down again. In his first service game he hit two double-faults in a row and it just went downhill from there. He was quite the comedian out there. Sometimes he talked to himself very loudly. Even though he was losing, I must admit he made me laugh. :D After he got broken for the second time he just leaned on the railing, his back against the court and he didn't seem very inclimed to go back out there. And once during the match he caught the ball on the raquet from way across the other side of the court and steadied it easily. LOL. The crowd applauded. They were generally most sympathetic to him but of course they were cheering for their own boy.

That was the funniest match I've seen Alex play. But he has been known to come out and forget how to play tennis, like in RG semis.

Poor Alex. :( Maybe he's still feeling those bagels and breadsticks Juanqui served him last week. He just wasn't himself. The Eurosport commentator even said "That's not Alex Corretja out there. It's an imposter."

All credit to Ivo though. He was terrific.

Juanqui's playing early tomorrow. I guess it's a good thing cause I won't be home later on. ;)

Ok, night night everyone! Sweet dreams. :wavey:

That's precisely why I quit; it stopped being a pleasure and became a necessity. I'm drinking a nice hot cup of coffee as we speak. ;) Hope it gets me through the day.

Juanqui's playing early tomorrow. I guess it's a good thing cause I won't be home later on. ;)

Ok, night night everyone! Sweet dreams. :wavey:

Good night, Layla! :wavey:

Poor Alex :( I wonder what's with him? Surely he's not still feeling last week's match  He's playing doubs with Micha tomorrow,, so he's not totally out of it.

I don't think I'll be here for Juanqui's match  cause it's so early. So I guess you'll have to cheer without me . . . but I'll do my special good luck cheer for him (I won't forget like I did with Jarkko :o). James is also playing tomorrow, against David Ferrer.

Broncos won the SuperBowl like in 1997 or 98 for the last time
The Bills had been to three or four SB and couldnt win one in the last ten years
The Bulls suck since Jordan left.

Well, Canucks never won the Stanley Cup and they came very close in 94, losing Game 7 in the Final to the Rangers:fiery: Since 94, it's been all downhill, until, well, they are still struggling to make playoff every year for past 2 years. But they are my home team, so I don't think I'll ever give up on them.

No comments on NFL. I don't even have a favorite. And forget the Bulls. I was a diedheart Bulls fan in the Jordan era. But I like them bcos of Jordan, Pippen, Grant, BJ, Kerr... and none of them are Bulls now, so I don't care anymore. You should try that. :D

C'mon, mate. We are counting on you to stop that Baldy's quest, or is it just an act that you do to taunt Gagassi....

Man, it could have been Thomas, if he didn't have to pull out bcos of the shoulder injury.

I mean, it could have been Enqvist beating Hewitt (if I wasn't clear at that point). Anyway... Wonder if I should change my thinking. Again, if Agassi go deep in St. Peters, he could pull out of Paris, that would be great...

Is it midnight yet in Europe? Eagerly awaiting Mrs. B's live report

About an hour or so away ;)

Meanwhile, you guys should go read the locker room confrontations thread in the Lleyki forum. It's really funny, especially the second story that Peridotpixie started around page 5 (or maybe it's 10 for you guys) or so.

Ailing Kratochvil pulls out of Swiss Indoors
BASEL, Switzerland, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Switzerland's Michel Kratochvil has been forced to withdraw from the Swiss Indoors event on Wednesday after suffering from tonsillitis.

"I did not feel well but everything got much worse during the night. I was shaking and I couldn't sleep," said Kratochvil, who is also doubtful for next week's Paris Masters.

"I have a fever and my throat is swollen. It is such a pity as I was really looking forward to this match."

Lucky loser, Dutchman Martin Verkerk, replaces Kratochvil in the draw. Verkerk will meet third seed and local favourite Roger Federer in the opening round on Wednesday.

Federer, runner-up for the last two years, is keen to become the first Swiss to win the tournament since Jakob Hlasek in 1991.

:( sorry hackie :(

What Juan Carlos said about his match today:

Ferrero: "A few points decided the match. It's very difficult to play against him on this surface. You have to take your chances in the tiebreak and that's what I did today. "

About his chances of reaching the Tennis Masters Cup: "I think I have a good chance to reach Shanghai. I'm not in for sure yet. If I make it there I think I have good possibilities to play well. It would be my second time playing in the Masters Cup. I have some experience from last year that will help me. Mentally I feel I'm there, I'm very motivated to go there."

TennisHack
10-23-2002, 10:44 PM
And from Michel

Kratochvil: "Everything got worse last night. I was shaking and I wasn't able to sleep. I have a fever and my throat is swollen. It's a pity because I was really looking forward to this match. It would have been a special match against Roger (Federer) here in Switzerland. There would have been a lot of emotions and fire on the court."

"My results haven't been that great the last couple of months, I wanted to end the year on a positive note. Now I don't even know if I will be able to play next week in Paris."

YEAH BABY:kiss: Love to hear that he's confident and determined. Juanqui, you can certainly do it. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Juanqui saved 4 set points in first set, well done well done. Now, you can go all the way to the final (you'll past that 2nd round - all jinx, GO AWAY)

Seems like Mrs. B is not stopping by today. She must be too exhausted, and/or too excited. Oh well, it's okay, Mrs. B, just tell us all about it tomorrow. Thanks.

hey, Guys! I'm back!!!!:wavey:

Sorry it took me so long, but i should have been here already round midnight, CET, but there was a long traffic jam in Basel we got stuck for like half an hour, then hubby used the pc first...

But here i am! Better late than never. I gotta catch up with the reading for a bit but i just want to let you know that Juanqui's match against Marc Rosset was awesome and he played with some superb shots! Those tiebreakers man, i almost fell out of my chair. But David slew Goliath! I'll write down a summary of the match, i got it written somewhere, altho i don't think i 'll do a great job out of it but i'll try. :)

:D

Mrs. B
10-23-2002, 11:24 PM
OK, i'll read your pages later.

First there was Costa's match against Voinea at 1 pm, and at the start of this match they already announced that Krati could not play due to his illness, so Roger gets to play the lucky loser, Martin Verkerk.

Voinea played well to win that match, Costa was frustrated he started mumbling and swearing to himself. Juanqui was watching his match but left 2 games before it was finished to prepare for his match, which followed....

Mrs. B
10-23-2002, 11:30 PM
I just saw that there's a thread for Juanqui in Basel. I'll write it there but i have to do this tomorrow, it's 1:35 a.m. here and i'm really exhausted and my eyes are too sore...Hope you don't mind. Sorry about this. But anyway you already know the results. I just want to say that if Juanqui plays on the way he did today, he has a good chance to win this tournanament. :)

Good night!
