Layla is wondering around dazed, not knowing where she is or how she got there, barely able to see through the veil of tears. Suddenly she feels a fierce, piercing gaze that burns through her skin like a laser. She turns around and there she is. The devil. :fiery: There is no time to think of a perfect thing to say, something that would shut this snake up for good, so she resorts to cliches. She approaches Hackie as menacingly as possible and screams: "Take this message to that rat bastard! And while you're at it, listen to it yourself!" Then she proceeds to scream this song:

I want you to know, that I'm happy for you :)
I wish nothing but the best for you both
An older version of me *hag*
Is she perverted like me :p
Would she go down on you in a theatre :p :p
Does she speak eloquently
And would she have your baby
I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother

To make it enough for you to be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you'd hold me
Until you died, till you died
But you're still alive :p *not for long*

And I'm here to remind you

at the end of Juan Carlos's match:

(score flashes onscreen)

PMac: Wow, Cliff, that was quite a performance by Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Cliff: Indeed, Patrick.

PMac: We're going to take you back to match point as soon as Andy finishes up here--what? We should go back now?

Cliff: Apparently something has happened on court, let's take a look.

Cliff: It appears to be Juan Carlos down there on the court, but who is that screaming person? How did they get down there, through the air-tight tournament security?

PMac: This is probably scaring the fans, they remember when Monica was stabbed by a fan.

Cliff: But this person doesn't appear to have a weapon--what a minute, that's his wife! What's going on?

The cameras close in on Layla as she shoves, punches, and screams at Juan Carlos.

Cliff: She appears to be singing some sort of song . . . .

Hackie returns from her juant in the street, still shaking from Layla's message.

I never should have left him!!

She hugs the small TV, where she had been watching the match, then notices the commotion on screen.

OH, NO!

Hackies hurries out.

Zephyr in the sky at night I wonder
Do my tears of mourning sink beneath the sun
She's got herself a universe gone quickly
For the call of thunder threatens everyone :fiery:

And I feel like I just got home
And I feel
And I feel like I just got home
And I feel

Faster than the speeding light she's flying
Trying to remember where it all began
She's got herself a little piece of heaven :hearts:
Waiting for the time when Earth shall be as one

Quicker than a ray of light
Quicker than a ray of light
Quicker than a ray of light

And I feel
Quicker than a ray of light :D
Then gone for
Someone else shall be there
Through the endless years

She's got herself a universe
She's got herself a universe
She's got herself a universe

And I feel
And I feel
And I feel like I just got home
And I feel

Quicker than a ray of light she's flying
Quicker than a ray of light I'm flying

I'M going to be the only mental hospital escapee in his life!

Hackie begins to flap her arms as she runs down the street.

In a stunt worthy of MacGyver, Layla escapes the cops and makes her way to the stadium where her beloved Juan Carlos is about to serve for the match. Wild with rage, she starts hitting him and kicking him and, oddly enough, scratching his back, all the while singing the chorus of an unknown song like a broken record, as Juan Carlos just stands there limp, too shocked to move or speak.

WHY DON`T YOU WEEP
WHEN I HURT YOU
WHY DON`T YOU WEEP
WHEN I CUT YOU
YOU DON`T BLEED
AND THE ANGER BUILDS UP INSIDE :fiery:

But then she collapses at his feet in tears and completely changes her tune:

Lazarus wasn’t grateful for his second wind :(
For another chance
To watch his chances fade like the dawn
And me, I can barely tell you just how pale I get
Without you

I’ve been a mess since you’ve been gone

What were the first words that the crowd heard him speak
I bet he was cursing at the sky
I bet he wasn’t turning no other cheek :o
And was there still hope and desire left in his heart :hearts:
For the last word in love

I’ve been a mess since you’ve been gone

Your beauty is just a slap in the face *ouch*
That’s gonna bring me back to life
Back to another sky that’s blue
It’s gonna turn me into another great American zombie

So hungry for you

I’ve been a mess since you’ve been gone

Juanqui is moved to tears. And even though she is ruining the greatest moment in his life, he is overwhelmed by his love for Layla  and vows never to break her heart again. After he has consoled her, he resumes his serve, but just at that moment there is another commotion...

PMac (to station manager): This is why we cut away from the Roddick match?!

Cliff: We're live, Patrick.

PMac: Well, folks, it appears Juan Carlos is not going to call for the trainer, or the police. But wait--

Cliff: It appears the tournament director himself has brought along security to detain Ferrero's wife. Have you ever heard of such a stunt on court, Patrick?

PMac: Only the streakers at Wimbledon, Cliff.

Security detains Layla and takes her to the players entrance. She insists on watching Juan Carlos finish the match. Rusedski is looking on, visibly shaken yet amused.

Cliff: Juan Carlos serving for the match. He just toweled off as much blood as he could . . . I'm sure the ladies got a kick out of that, eh, Patrick? The torn shirt look is very 'in' this year.

There is a commotion in the commentator's booth.

PMac: What's the meaning of this?! Cliff?

Hackie grabs the microphone that is audible on court. She pushes Patrick out of the way and presses herself against the glass.

All right, boys!

Patrick and Cliff try to grab Hackie away from the glass, but she pushes both of them into their seats and across the room.

On court, Juan Carlos serves his first double fault of the match. 40-15.

In the booth, Hackie is gathering all of the sanity that she possibly could. She remembers Juan Carlos's gentle smile after she serenaded him in the apartment.

Who knows how long I've loved you :)
You know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely lifetime
If you want me to--I will.

For if I ever saw you
I didn't catch your name ("Huh?")
But it never really mattered ;)
I will always feel the same :hearts:

Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together
Love you when we're apart

And when at last I finally find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you ("Huh?")
Make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me :hearts:
You know I will.

I will . . .

Juan Carlos hits a slider ace out wide to win the match. He sends a kiss to heaven, then smiles the same gentle smile at Hackie in the ESPN booth.

Layla seethes with anger as she is led off the court. Juan Carlos accepts the crowd's bewildered accolades and even signs a few autographs behind his chair before leaving the court, tournament assistant whispering furiously in his ear as he carries the racquet bag.

Hackie touches the glass and smiles. She has calmed down enough to carefully replace the microphone and let a suspicious Patrick & Cliff get back to their places. She calmly leaves the booth, surprised to not be met by security as she leaves.

PMac: Well, Cliff, this has been quite a match.

Cliff: Indeed, Patrick.

PMac: I'm getting word that play has stopped on all of the other courts, so we can get right back to Andy's match, resuming play where we left off! We'll be back, after this.

Hackie wanders around the grounds, luckily for her not getting picked up as security combs the grounds for more "crazies" :D She gains access to the main complex and heads straight for the interview rooms. She eventually finds Juan Carlos in the tiniest of the rooms, being grilled by rabid reporters in Spanish about the on-court incidents.

Juan Carlos finally pleases them enough that he is allowed to leave. Hackie spies him asking the tournament director about his wife. He looks worried; Hackie doesn't like this.

Hackie walks up to Juan Carlos when the director leaves to find out about Layla's whereabouts. She struggles to talk normally.

I saw yer-your wi-wife before I came here. She wanted me to give you this message:

I want you to know, that I'm happy for you :)
I wish nothing but the best for you both

Juan Carlos looks all at once hurt, confused, and angry. He is speechless as he remembers his vow on the court as his wife grovelled at his feet. As he's deciding whether to be angry or sad, Hackie puts her arms around him in a hug.

And she called you a "rat bastard."

Juan Carlos's grip tightens across Hackie's back as he decides upon his emotion towards his wife: ANGER :fiery:

Misinterpreting Juan Carlos' request, the tournament director brings Layla around to see him. Upon beholding the two lovers she stops in her tracks and turns a deathly shade of pale, but she quickly regains her composure and gives him an icy stare that would make the Snow Queen seem like a Hawaii welcoming committee. As mad as Juan Carlos is with his wife, he is even more ashamed of his betrayal. Layla approaches him and starts singing with a mixture of sweet melancholy and eery contempt:

If I pour your cup, that is friendship :D
If I add your milk, that is manners :)
If I stop there, claiming ignorance of taste,
that is tea

But if I measure the sugar
to satisfy your expectant tongue :lick:
then that is love, :hearts:
But if I measure the sugar

sitting untouched and growing cold

At the last line, Layla turns 100% cold. »You wouldn't know anything about love« she says with contempt and adds: »I trust you will enjoy her tea lol« With that she turns around and begins to walk away, murmuring to herself:

Gonna wash that man right out of my hair

And she doesn't have to wait long. Alex Corretja has been quietly watching the whole scene from the sidelines and he now quietly approaches Juan Carlos, giving him a dirty look. »You really have no idea how to treat a lady, do you? Watch and learn, chavalito.« He takes Layla by the hand and the two off them walk of into the sunset of another beautiful day. Layla looks into Alex's mesmerising eyes and begins to sing seductively and hopefully:

You look like a perfect fit :hearts:

Juan Carlos lies on his hotel bed, staring at the ceiling. What a day it had been: finally defeating Greg Rusedski, watching his wife go mad (and leave with another man!), and having this mysterious girl captivate him with her song, though her behavior was a bit off the beam. He sighed as he ran the problem of Layla over and over in his head. She had tried to warn him that Hackie was a crazy, obsessed fan, but he just didn't see it. Layla was the one acting like a mental hospital escapee, first tearing into him on court and then running off with Alex Corretja.

He sighs and moves to the bathroom to take some painkillers for his headache. As he emerges again, a knock sounds at the door. He opens it to find Hackie.

I have no idea where she got that "tea" thing, Juan Carlos. Does she think we're lovers?

Hackie blushes prettily; Juan Carlo raises his eyebrows.

 Well, I'm here to cheer you up. I know you'll like this song!

Juan Carlos lets her in; Hackie sits in a chair as Juan Carlos sits on the bed.

PMac: Well, Cliff, due to Andy's heartbreaking loss yesterday, we're going to watch a bit of this Corretja-Gasquet match.

Cliff: Yes, Patrick, how did Andy lose to such a lowly-ranked player?

PMac: I guess DiPasquale was on his game yesterday; not just anybody can defeat Andy Roddick :D

camera zooms down on Corretja, who is finishing his warm-up

Cliff: Well, Patrick, what do you think of Corretja's chances today? It is his first match in a long time.

PMac: Well, you know he was one of the seven victims Juan Carlos claimed on his way to the Roland Garros crown. I think his loss to Ferrero was another crushing blow to this fading Spanish star. Because you know, Cliff, the Spanish players aren't like the American players, who can last forever.

Cliff: Alex is playing one of the young upstarts, Richard Gasquet, today in his first-round match. Now, this is not a clay court match, where both players excel. This is a hard court. Who has the edge, Patrick?

PMac: I'd have to give the edge to the youngster Gasquet. After all, Gasquet pummeled our boys in Davis Cup this year. He has nice groundstrokes and more firepower than Corretja. Plus, that youthful determination.

camera pans around the stadium, looking for those all-too-cute players box shots

PMac: Well, Alex has an interesting addition to his players box. Isn't that Ferrero's wife, Layla?

Cliff: I wonder how she & Alex know each other? And it is strange, why would she be cheering for Alex today? How did she get into the stadium without being interrogated by security?

Layla somehow senses she's on ESPN's camera. She notices Alex has finished his warm-up, so she blows him a kiss and calls out, "Vamos, Alex!"

Cliff: Well, folks, the drama just keeps building here at TMS Canada. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted.

Alex takes Layla home and while they are driving, her head is reeling with all that has happened. She begins to feel that revenge is the perfect medicine doctor would never prescribe, so she decides to go for it. As they are saying goodbye on the steps of her house she makes her move. Waking up in her bed, Layla stretches herself contentedly and rolls her eyes. “What on earth was I thinking marrying a younger man?!” But then she remembers what she was thinking and begins to weep hysterically. Alas, her mental state is highly unstable and her husband’s betrayal was the last straw. She can’t pretend to be a cold-hearted bitch anymore. She decides she earned her right to wallow in self-pity for a while, so she turns to her favorite pastime and switches on her beloved karaoke machine to sing a couple of pathetic, self-loathing songs. Notice that she can't resist taping herself. She grabs the microphone and howls:

When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye :o
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world :)
And I wish I was special
You're so fuckin' special

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here.

I don't care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so fuckin' special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here.

He's running out again,
He's running out
He's run run run running out...
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fuckin' special
I wish I was special...

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo,
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here. :(
I don't belong here.

The other song is in the same vein, if slightly less sarcastic:

sleepwalking through the all-nite drugstore
baptized in flourescent light
i found religion in the greeting card aisle
now i know hallmark was right :p
and every pop song on the radio
is suddenly speaking to me
yeah, art may imitate life
but life imitates t.v.
'cuz you've been gone exactly two weeks
two weeks and three days
and let's just say that things look different now ;)
different in so many ways :p

i used to be a superhero
no one could touch me
not even myself :p
you are like a phone booth
i somehow stumbled into :(
and now look at me
i am just like everybody else

if i was dressed in my best defenses
would you agree to meet me for coffee
if i did my tricks with smoke and mirrors :wavey:
would you still know which one was me ;)
if i was naked and screaming
on your front lawn :p
would you turn on the light and come down
screaming, there's the asshole
who did this to me :fiery:
stripped me of my power
stripped me down

Meanwhile on the tour:

Juan Carlos is overcome with jealousy as he watches Alex and Layla blowing kisses at each other on the big screen in the player’s lounge. Alex had just won and he doesn’t exactly relish the prospect of playing him tomorrow. “Of course, she doesn’t trip and fall over for Alex. Why does she always have to make ME the laughing stock. Figures he would get all the rewards” he grumbles.

Later on at the press conference, Juan Carlos refuses to answer any questions regarding his wife and as a consequence is fined 1,000,000 $ and has to return his porche. Upset at the thought of losing his favorite car, he decides to play beyond par tomorrow and lose on purpose. Unfortunately his scheme will backfire. Invisible as he is to the media and the ATP managers, no one will notice his quiet form of protest and will assume he just, well… lost to a better player.

I'm practically having to force hitman to do this, I don't think we can agree on a song. :)

Hackie is standing around the practice courts at TMS Canada, lackadaisily watching a tall, impossibly blonde left-hander hit with his coach. She cocks her head to the side as she watches his fluid strokes; for a moment she is lost in his motion. She had come to find her love Juan Carlos, but this man had caught her eye for a moment. She sighs and let go of the fence.

Just as she was about to turn around, a hand grabs her elbow and practically drags her forward. She looks up and sees nothing but anger and determination on Juan Carlos's face. She adjusts her step and tries to calm him down.

Hackie: What's wrong?

Juan Carlos: I saw her. With him.

Hackie: What?!

Juan Carlos (inadvertently shooting Hackie a nasty look): My wife. With Corretja.

Hackie (pause): So?

Juan Carlos: So? Alex & I are headed straight for each other in the draw!

Hackie (still doesn't completely understand, but plays along): Oh.

Juan Carlos: I don't think I could face her on the other side of the court. My marriage has fallen apart, and who does she run to?

Hackie (understands): She's just trying to get to you.

Juan Carlos (looks at Hackie thoughtfully): She's doing a good job. (sighs) I'm not going to face Alex.

Hackie: You aren't playing him next round, are you?

Juan Carlos: No, we'd meet in the semifinals. But I'm going to stop this before then. I'm going to default my next match.

Hackie : You can't do that! You'll be fined!

Juan Carlos: I'm already being fined for refusing to speak to the media about this mess with her.

Hackie (thinking out loud): You'll just have to beat her at her own game. Play better than ever in your next match, and the matches after that until you meet him. Show her what she's lost.

Juan Carlos hesitates. He'd rather just nip it in the bud, but there's something in Hackie's voice that makes him decide to go along with her plan.

Juan Carlos: All right.

Hackie puts her arms around his waist, leaning in and smiling.

In the daydream I once had
You were standing oh so sad
But the way you smiled at me ;)
Made me laugh so awkwardly

And if you ever feel uptight
I'll make you wholesome
And I'll make it right
And if you ever fall on your knees
Give me comfort in a bottle, please
Give me comfort in a bottle, please

Though I can't recall your name
I remember just the same
And you seem so far away
But I feel you everyday

And if you're ever feeling down
Just look me up
And I'll be around ;)
And if you ever fall on your knees
Give me comfort in a bottle, please
Give me comfort in a bottle, please

Fly, fly away so high
That you never come back down :o
You make it so hard for me
To ever wanna be there when you hit the ground :(
Fly, fly you'll never be around

In the daydream I once had
You were standing oh so sad
But the way you smiled at me ;)
Made me laugh so awkwardly

And if you ever feel uptight
I'll make you wholesome
And I'll make it right
And if you ever fall on your knees
Give me comfort in a bottle please . . .

Juan Carlos feels better about the situation, and continues to walk through the throngs of people with Hackie. A few stare wide-eyed, a few stop in their tracks and watch them pass. Hackie smiles, secretly thrilled she is being mistaken for his new girlfriend.

Cliff: Well, folks, it's been quite eventful here at TMS Canada, and I'm not just talking about on court! In a scandal fitting of former world #1 Lleyton Hewitt, Juan Carlos Ferrero has been fined $1 million for refusing to answer questions about his wife's behavior. (Video of Juan Carlos, arms crossed over his chest, mouth tightly sealed, flashes across the screen.) Layla Ferrero has been spotted cheering on Alex Corretja, whom Juan Carlos is seeded to meet in the semifinals.

PMac: Corretja completely destroyed Richard Gasquet yesterday. It was as if he was on the warpath.

Cliff: Well, surely he'd want to avenge his loss to Juan Carlos at the French.

PMac: He didn't have to take it out on Gasquet! Though the kid deserved to be knocked down to earth. Thanks Alex for avenging the US Davis Cup loss on your way to your own revenge!

Cliff: Speaking of American players, it's a travesty of loss so far in Canada for the Americans.

PMac: First Roddick, then Sampras falters in the second round to George Bastl. The Swiss has had Pete's number since Wimbledon '02, defeating him no less than 3 times since that fateful slam. Even though Sampras hasn't won a tournament in 5 years, he is still at the top of his game, still a contender for the Open come August.

Cliff: We begin our second round coverage today with Ferrero, who is playing one of the toughest opponents on the tour, Fabrice Santoro.

PMac: That's right, Cliff. "The Magician"!

Cliff: Patrick, Ferrero has never lost to Santoro. How do you suppose he has managed that so far?

PMac: Juan Carlos always makes mincemeat of the fading Frenchman. He uses that powerful forehand and quick movement around the court to overpower Santoro.

Cliff: Well, it always proves an interesting match! Juan Carlos Ferrero vs Fabrice Santoro, next here on ESPN. Perhaps the match will be peaceful for a change!

--------------------------------------------------
after the match
--------------------------------------------------

PMac: Truly amazing, Cliff. That's the most convincing win we've seen since Tim Henman at Wimbledon.

Cliff: Juan Carlos just crushed Santoro, 6-3, 6-3. Everything was working today--the serve, the forehand, even the backhand! I wonder if he's heard about Alex's determined play?

PMac: I don't know, Cliff, but he just put in a macho showing himself--a bit surprising for the demure Ferrero. If both can keep it up, it's going to make for a very interesting semifinal match!

Well, depends on what you mean by "suck for me". If you mean was it the ultimate hellhole, not really. That was junior high ;) By high school I had somehow become one of the "cool freaky people"--nobody bothered me, and I didn't bother anyone.

College is great, though. Independence suits me quite well. There are tons more choices for classes, and if you plan it just right, you don't have to take a math or science, or even PE, LOL!

If you feel trapped in high school, chances are college will be a welcome blessing.

I didn't like highschool at all :fiery: I got sick of having to deal with fake clans of totally unoriginal people who for some reason *thought* they were really special

But I was SO glad to get out of there.

In university I just dont' associate with people like that who look down on me because I'm not wearing enough Gap to please their senses.

Like Tennishack said you are a lot more independant.

Just don't go overboard. That's something I have observed *a lot*. When some people get out from under their mother's thumb, they go to the other extreme--binge drinking, failing classes, becoming addicted to prescription pills.

Not everyone is like that, mind you, but a lot of people are fucked up and you just kinda have to deal with it . . . Find your own group of friends and you're ready to rock ;)

Sometime ago, I read pages one and two of the biggest of Jostein Gaarder (sp?) books. I had a phylosophy work to do on the whole book.
I started with something like:
"The book is profound and the story is touching. However, its torn in many fragments. Two of those are on the very start of the book, and get dissecated all along it..." and bla bla bla

Summarizing, I did a huge essay on two pages and two sentences picked from that, dissecated them and got a ten out of ten! :bounce:

Sometime ago, I read pages one and two of the biggest of Jostein Gaarder (sp?) books. I had a phylosophy work to do on the whole book.
I started with something like:
"The book is profound and the story is touching. However, its torn in many fragments. Two of those are on the very start of the book, and get dissecated all along it..." and bla bla bla

Summarizing, I did a huge essay on two pages and two sentences picked from that, dissecated them and got a ten out of ten! :bounce:

Thats dinamic reading part one. :D

LOL! very clever! i hope this works, i really wanna pass English!:)

Bullshitting 101: Use big words.

As you can see in hitman's example,

I started with something like:
"The book is profound and the story is touching. However, its torn in many fragments. Two of those are on the very start of the book, and get dissecated all along it..."

He doesn't say anything, really, but he uses big words--"profound", "fragments", "dissecated".

Bullshitting 102: Treat everything abstractly, even if it's not. Teachers *love* that.

Cliff: Patrick, it's been a fabulous tournament so far.

PMac: Yes, there is a surviving American player, James Blake. The youngster has been playing very well this week in Canada, and has a chance to go all the way.

Cliff: Today's first match is Alex Corretja vs Andrei Pavel. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Corretja this week.

PMac: Indeed, and it only deepens as fans have spotted Ferrero with another young lady this week, though she has not been present at any of his matches.

Cliff: Pavel has won this tournament before, Patrick.

PMac: Yes, he won in Montreal in 2001, on the strength of a weak draw. All of the Americans went out early that year.

Cliff: We saw Corretja's powerful play against up-and-comer Richard Gasquet in the second round. He seems determined to reach the semifinals, that match where he could meet Juan Carlos. What do you think are Pavel's chances against the resurgent Spaniard?

PMac: Well, Cliff, Pavel has had problems since his breakthrough year in '01. He failed to defend his Tennis Masters title, and has all but faded into oblivion since. But I still give him a chance in the match. He's had flashes of brilliance since 2001, after all.

Cliff: Well, I'll have to disagree with you on that, Patrick. Corretja is just playing too well this week. I think he'll get through this match.

--------------------------------------------------
Hackie stealthily sneaks through the crowd at Court 1, happy to note she draws no attention since being seen publically with Juan Carlos. She sits down behind Corretja's change over chair, in a pack of Alex fans. She notes Layla in his section on the end of the bleachers.

I have to help Juan Carlos.

Hackie watches the first set, feeling slightly panicky as Corretja takes it to Pavel, going up 5-0 easily. On the break after Corretja successfully breaks for the second time, Hackie gets as close as she can.

One baby to another says,
"I'm lucky to have met you"
I don't care what you think
Unless it is about me

It is now my duty to completely drain you :D
I travel through a tube
And end up in your infection

Chew your meat for you (yuck!)
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours
I like you (NOT!)

With eyes so dilated,
I've became your pupil :D
You've taught me everything
Without a poison apple
The water is so yellow,
I'm a healthy student
Indebted and so grateful
Vacuum out the fluids

Chew your meat for you (yuck!)
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours

Sloppy lips to lips
You're my vitamins
I'm like you :D

Alex suddenly looks sick to his stomach. He blanches, but tries to shake it off. He gets up to serve out the set.
--------------------------------------------------
PMac: Amazing, Cliff. Corretja has had the easiest time of it in this set, but suddenly loses his serve at love! A slight mental lapse?

Cliff: Well, I don't know if you noticed, I know we weren't on camera when it happened, but apparently Corretja suddenly made to vomit on the last changeover. I wonder if the heat has gotten to him.

Alex loses the next game as well, 5-2.

Cliff: It looks like Alex is calling for the trainer. We'll keep you posted, folks.

Down on court, Hackie smiles as she retreats from the stands. She fails to notice Layla's eyes boring into her back.

Oh and here's my contribution. High school was pretty frustrating, but more because of a certain physics professor than social relations. The first three years I was pretty much an outsider, cause I was kinda shy :o , but I got along with most of my classmates and they usually respected me so I didn't perceive it as a problem. I quite enjoyed my status as a loner to tell you the truth. :D

But then I fell in love with one of the guys from the main clique in the last year and that presented quite a dilemma. I somehow managed to infiltrate myself into that group and I spent the rest of the year hanging out with them. We're still good friends. But it wasn't the sort of elitist clique that looks down on everyone else, otherwise I obviously wouldn't fit in. ;)

Never did get that guy though. But all in all it was a positive experience. I enjoyed being part of a friendly group of people but maybe that's only because we were 17 and 18 and have moved beyond the outright childish behavior of the first couple of years. :)

I feel your pain. I don't even know his taste in music. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* ;) ;)

Layla
08-20-2002, 04:15 PM
Alex returns to Layla’s house from practice and can’t find her anywhere, so he decides to relax with some music. Switching on the tape, he finds nothing but silence. He rewinds the tape and is not impressed by what he hears, although it has to be said that Layla’s voice is angelic and has the power to hypnotise men in a matter of seconds.
He begins to feel that Layla will never get over Juan Carlos and his crest falls all way to the ground. Suddenly he’s not sure if he wants to be the rebound guy anymore, he considers himself far too gorgeous for that. :p

When Layla comes home, he confronts her with his discovery. “I don’t think you appreciate me the way you should, you know many women would kill to be in you place right now.” Layla decides to ignore this last remark and in a rare moment of unreserved candor she tells him exactly how she feels.

Most of the time
I'm clear focused all around, *yep, Miss Control Freak*
Most of the time
I can keep both feet on the ground *can’t help it, they’re heavy*
I can follow the path, I can read the signs :D
Stay right with it when the road unwinds
I can handle whatever I stumble upon. *but I trip up first*
I don't even notice he's gone, :o
Most of the time. ;)

Most of the time
It's well understood,
Most of the time
I wouldn't change it if I could
I can't make it all match up, I can hold my own
I can deal with the situation right down to the bone
I can survive, I can endure *just like Gloria Gaynor*
And I don't even think about him
Most of the time. ;)

Most of the time
My head is on straight *using neck support*
Most of the time
I'm strong enough not to hate. :fiery:
I don't build up illusion 'til it makes me sick
I ain't afraid of confusion no matter how thick.
I can smile in the face of mankind. :D
Don't even remember what his lips felt like on mine
Most of the time. ;)

Most of the time
He ain't even in my mind
I wouldn't know him if I saw him
He's that far behind. :p *ancient history, baby*
Most of the time
I can't even be sure
If he was ever with me
Or if I was with him.

Most of the time
I'm halfway content *but the glass is half empty*
Most of the time
I know exactly where it went *down Hackie Lane*
I don't cheat on myself, I don't run and hide *chicken*
Hide from the feelings that are buried inside ;)
I don't compromise and I don't pretend
I don't even care if I ever see him again *oh, sweet indifference*
Most of the time. ;)

Alex is not entirely convinced he caught all the shades and undertones of this confession but he smiles understandingly anyway.

Layla

Later on at the court…

Layla is filled with rage at Hackie’s audacity, but she is torn as to what she should do about it. On the one hand, she wants to go over there immediately and shut her up for good, but on the other hand she feels responsible for what is happening on the courts and knows she should try to help Alex somehow. This indecision is only momentary though, since the devil inside :fiery: takes over and moves her body until it is positioned right behind Hackie’s unsuspecting back. But before she proceeds to do something unmentionable to her nemesis, the angelic side  wakes up and in the nick of time removes her hand from the position where it might do some permanent damage. Layla concentrates on Alex for the moment and begins to sing to him while he is waiting for the trainer. She finds the perfect volume, just loud enough for Alex to hear, but not so loud as to alert the security. She hasn’t watched enough episodes of MacGyver to feel confident that she could come up with another trick like that. All she can do is copy him anyhow, since no one can be as creative as MacGyver and she harbors no illusions about her genius.

I call you when I need you
And my heart's on fire :fiery:
You come to me, come to me
Wild and wire
You come to me, give me everything I need

You bring a lifetime of promises
And a world of dreams
You speak the language of love :hearts:
Like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong ;)
Take my heart and make it strong :D

Cause you're simply the best :hearts:
Better than all the rest *pffft*
Better than anyone
Anyone I ever meet
I'm stuck on your heart :hearts:
I hang on every word you say :o
Tear us apart
Baby I would rather be dead

Deep in your heart :hearts:
I see the star
Of every night and every day
And in your eyes I get lost
I get washed away
Just as long as I'm here in your arms
I could be in no better place
Cause you're simply the best

Alex looks at her gratefully, but the same couldn’t be said of Andrei, who seems to be gettting more and more frustrated:

Hey you! Aren’t you supposed to be somewhere else? Ferrero is playing on Court # 3, you know. he quips sarcastically.

You’re ruining my concentration here. Honey, go get the baby, I think we need some back up.

But then he lightens up, seeing that the situation is so ridiculous. He turns to Alex and jokes:

Lol are we really so boring that we need all this extra drama just to prevent people from falling asleep during our matches. Maybe you can try pumping some fists and roaring, and I’ll try to trip over my feet as much as I can. That’s what we call division of labor in Romania. Let’s give the public what they want, that stuff seems to get them excited. So what do you say? COME ON!

[i]Alex laughs and returns to the court feeling a whole lot better. The nausea he felt has misteriously disappeared even before the trainer could find the right court.[/l]

Layla - I totally relate to the stage fright and shyness.

When I was in grade ten I took drama to help get over it - I had to read a monologue as part of the class presentation to another class, and I cried a lot in rehearsal cause I was so scared :(

I got over it though. I still hate presenting stuff, but I didnt have as many problems after having to go through that.

I would never take that class again though :fiery:

It is easier to explain if i act different, if I explain how I am in *real* life :D

I'm actually pretty quiet, and soft spoken, and extremely polite :D

To a certain extent yes. I mean its easier to say things on the net as opposed to someone's face. On the other hand, you don't see the reaction and the non-verbal part of the conversation is obviously absent.

Plus, I think we horse around a lot more than in real life. It's supposed to be fun as opposed to life.

But even so, I like to be honest if I can, so I don't usually pretend to be someone I'm not, if that's what you meant.

Yes, Schalken IS cute and he's one of my faves. But I don't often think about him. I wonder why that is?

And I do so post in Tommy's forum... occasionally. :fiery: :D

I can talk about Tommy's bum anytime. :D I'm not sure that's the kind of conversation you were expecting though, Leo. ;)

Rebecca, that drama class was probably a really good idea. I never got over it, cause I didn't get a chance to test myself. Not that I'm looking for it particularly hard. :D

Well, I haven't been posting long enough to know this, but judging from the stunt I pulled yesterday, I might be more polite in the real world as well. Unless someone steps on my toe, or insults my favorite musicians :fiery: , or... but I digress.

I think the wtaworld and now the atpworld will do that to you Rebecca. I don't think it's a reflection of your real personality.
