Yeah, I agree that she's beautiful. But I thought she was younger than she is. She's 22! She was born June 13 1980. But she only turned pro in 2000, so she's a relative novice on the tour.

These are her pics:

Thanks, Layla. :)

She's really sweet, but she's blond on the last photo, i think she looks better with the reddish tint. I thought it was her natural hair color...

love that Mark Knopfler tune... ;)

Layla

Good for you ILR! :) I also never died my hair. It used to be blonder, but now it's getting darker and darker. I like the color though and it seems healthy and shiny and that's what really matters. Do you have long or short hair? I'm somehow picturing you with the short hair. My hair is quite long.

LOL @ the hair talk. ;)

ILR

lol!no no its pretty long! Its dark brown and just past my shoulders.I never dye mine because it makes it go all weird,if u dye it a lot it damages ur hair.

Hair talk, huh?

Well, i always wore mine long, and being Asian, it's black, but in February this year i did the weirdest thing---i shaved it!!!! Hubby said i looked like the sister of the Dalai Lama! But it grows so fast, and it's healthier like this...and i never imagined short was so liberating. It's better for playing tennis, anyway...:)

Oh I see, so I was wrong. ;) Yeah, I'm very protective about my hair, that's why I don't want to dye it. I would like to have black hair once, but just for a few days. :p I did get a perm once but I never want to do it again.

What kind of hair do you have Mrs. B?

Hey, everyone!! I'm here for a minute between classes.

Good to see this thread hopping!! And Layla's back!!!

Layla, I don't think you'll have more problems with this new modem, especially if he deleted all of the ports you have no use for. Sometimes that helps, sometimes not. If you're go over the weekend, maybe he really did do something right ;)

And  at the computer co. I hate places like that--some places here in America are like that  Is it also a monopoly? Cause usually we just undercut them and buy from their biggest rival. But that may not work for you . . .

I can't contribute much to the hair talk. I never had the urge to dye my hair any color because my skin-tone only suits the color I have LOL. Mrs. B, you are brave for shaving your head, brave and even cooler than before (didn't think that was possible, did you? :D)

I thought you would have short(er) hair, Layla. You know, sporty and all. I admire people who can keep their hair long and healthy.

So far so good. I'm still here for now. ;)

LOL, isn't it funny how we all imagined our hair differently?

Talk about sporty. I have to go now too. I have an aerobics class (I'm still checking them out to see which one to choose). But I see that most of you had already gone anyway.

See you guys later...I'll just stare at the scoreboard then...it's 2 all, 40 all, at the moment.

As it's raining here in Bern there's not much i can do, hubby wanted me to come with him to a football match but i'm much better off staying indoors, besides my cough is not fully gone...

Mrs. B
10-04-2002, 07:33 PM
awww, Marat beat him today, 7-5, 6-4 :(

But he's in the doubles semis with Max, against Zhenya/Jared Palmer!

Layla
10-04-2002, 08:09 PM
Awww, I'm sorry Rogi lost today. :( I was sure he was going to beat him.

But yay for Marat!!! :bounce: Looks like my Safin/Kafelnikov final is right on course ;) but the good thing is that I wouldn't mind seeing Sjeng or Paul-Henri in the final either, so it's a win-win situation for me. This tourney is so much better than the Tokyo one. :p

Oh, I'm back by the way. ;) The computer is still working for now. I left it running while I went away. I can't tell you how much I needed this exercise today. I've been worried sick all week (well, still am in a way) and I needed this aerobics class to keep my mind off things and relax a bit. Now I feel pleasantly tired. I need to start working out more. I've been kinda lazy in that department in the last two weeks. Well, not really lazy, I just had so much work I didn't have time for exercise.

Mrs. B
10-04-2002, 08:30 PM
Good for you. I wanted to play again today but it was raining this morning and i really have to take care of this cough, but it's getting better already...The good news is i haven't touched a cigarette in 2 weeks. Not that i'm a heavy smoker, i used to do maybe 2 or 3 nocturnally, but i don't miss any of that, it's just that hubby smokes.

I saw Paul-Henri in Gstaad in July, glad that he's doing well in Moscow, i thought he was really great in RG and i'm sure he'll beat a couple more top players in the near future.

I, too, am really hoping for the all-Russian final. But what a performance by Paul-Henri!! Now I wish I had gotten him for my team. LOL, my team is so bad this week . . . and I have both Zhenya & Schalken, so I'm going to lose at least one more tomorrow (I also have Marat). None of my people playing in Tokyo made it.

You guys are so athletic. I'll be able to join you in the spring cause I'm taking tennis lessons though my school. It should be a laugh riot! :D

Layla: so far, so good ;) I hope it's cleared up for now, until you can gather enough to pay for the XP upgrade.

Anyone for a song? I'm listening to S&G right now and having a hard time trying to figure out what my favorite song is :D

Someone told me
It's all happening at the zoo.

I do believe it,
I do believe it's true.

It's a light and tumble journey
From the East Side to the park;
Just a fine and fancy ramble
To the zoo.

But you can take the crosstown bus
If it's raining or it's cold,
And the animals will love it
If you do.

Somethin' tells me
It's all happening at the zoo.

The monkeys stand for honesty,
Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
They're dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.

Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! You gotta come and see
At the zoo

Another good one . . .

El Condor Pasa (cause I never remember it!!)
I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

CHORUS
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man grows older every day
It gives the world
Its saddest sound,
Its saddest sound.

I'd rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet,
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

CHORUS

I bought Lleyton for the US Open, and though not a bad investment, he ate up a huge chunk of my money. That's why I didn't choose him this time--good thing I didn't. But I chose Jarkko over Rogi (though in the end it wasn't much of a difference) Novak over Mathieu, and James & Juan Carlos for Tokyo (James had semifinal points to defend--whoops! :o)

So I have Zhenya, Marat, and Sjeng left.

Simon & Garfunkel? I don't recognize the first song. Yes I'm up for a song. :D I love S&G! My favorite song is this:

Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And we walked off to look for America

Cathy I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh *so did I* :D
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera
Toss me a cigaret I think there's one in the raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenary she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

Cathy I'm lost I said though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America
All come to look for America

Always brings a tear to my eye.

Coming up, Mrs. B

When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can't be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

When you're down and out,
When you're on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I'll take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

Anyone know the Dangling Conversation?

TennisHack

I'm listening to "The Best of . . ." right now :D

Also a very important song to me:

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

Dangling Conversation, another one of my favorites!! Let me find it . . .

TennisHack
10-04-2002, 09:03 PM
It's a still life water color,
Of a now late afternoon,
As the sun shines through the curtained lace
And shadows wash the room.
And we sit and drink our coffee
Couched in our indifference,
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
The borders of our lives.

And you read your Emily Dickinson,
And I my Robert Frost,
And we note our place with bookmarkers
That measure what we've lost.
Like a poem poorly written
We are verses out of rhythm,
Couplets out of rhyme,
In syncopated time
And the dangled conversation
And the superficial sighs,
Are the borders of our lives.

Yes, we speak of things that matter,
With words that must be said,
"Can analysis be worthwhile?"
"Is the theater really dead?"
And how the room is softly faded
And I only kiss your shadow,
I cannot feel your hand,
You're a stranger now unto me
Lost in the dangling conversation.
And the superficial sighs,
In the borders of our lives.

Homeward Bound
I'm sitting in the railway station.
Got a ticket to my destination.
On a tour of one-night stands my suitcase and guitar in hand.
And ev'ry stop is neatly planned for a poet and a one-man band.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

Ev'ry day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines.
And each town looks the same to me, the movies and the factories
And ev'ry stranger's face I see reminds me that I long to be,
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

Tonight I'll sing my songs again,
I'll play the game and pretend.
But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Silently for me.

Sound of Silence
Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls."
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.

Scarborough Fair/Canticle
Are you going to Scarborough Fair:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.

On the side of a hill in the deep forest green.
Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested brown.
Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain
Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme;
Without no seams nor needle work,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves.
Washes the grave with silvery tears.
A soldier cleans and polishes a gun.
Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Tell her to find me an acre of land:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme;
Between the salt water and the sea strand,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions.
General order their soldiers to kill.
And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme;
And gather it all in a bunch of heather,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

How's this for nostalgia? ;)

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy.

Hello lamppost,
What cha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain't cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in' doo-doo,
Feelin' groovy.

Got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep.
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me.
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.

Old Friends
Old friends, old friends,
Sat on their parkbench like bookends
A newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the round toes
of the high shoes of the old friends

Old friends, winter companions, the old men
Lost in their overcoats, waiting for the sun
The sounds of the city sifting through trees
Settles like dust on the shoulders of the old friends

Can you imagine us years from today,
Sharing a parkbench quietly
How terribly strange to be seventy

Old friends, memory brushes the same years,
Silently sharing the same fears

Fakin' It
When she goes, she's gone.
If she stays, she stays here.
The girl does what she wants to do.
She knows what she wants to do.
And I know I'm fakin' it,
I'm not really makin' it.

I'm such a dubious soul,
And a walk in the garden
Wears me down.
Tangled in the fallen vines,
Pickin' up the punch lines,
I've just been fakin' it,
Not really makin' it.

Is there any danger?
No, no, not really.
Just lean on me.
Takin' time to treat
Your friendly neighbors honestly.
I've just been fakin' it,
I'm not really makin' it.
This feeling of fakin' it--
I still haven't shaken it.

Prior to this lifetime
I surely was a tailor.
("Good morning, Mr. Leitch.
Have you had a busy day?")
I own the tailor's face and hands.
I am the tailor's face and hands and
I know I'm fakin' it,
I'm not really makin' it.
This feeling of fakin' it--
I still haven't shaken it.

Hehe, Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost. I love reading them both.

I gotta go for a while. Queer as Folk is on and I wanna watch it. ;) I'll be back in a little while. (I hope.)

Before you go . . .

I am just a poor boy.
Though my story's seldom told,
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocketful of mumbles,
Such are promises
All lies and jest
Still, a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest.

When I left my home
And my family,
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station,
Running scared,
Laying low,
Seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go,
Looking for the places
Only they would know.

CHORUS
Lie-la-lie.....

Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job,
But I get no offers.
Just a come-on from the whores
On Seventh Avenue
I do declare,
There were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there.

CHORUS

Then I'm laying out my winter clothes
And wishing I was gone
Going home
Where the New York City winters
Aren't bleeding me,
Leading me,
Going home.

In the clearing stands a boxer,
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame,
"I am leaving, I am leaving."
But the fighter still remains

CHORUS

Also one of my favorites. :) I'll post the website when I'm finished, I guess. This guy has all of the albums and everything.

For Mrs. B (and Layla):

April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;
May, she will stay,
Resting in my arms again.

June, she'll change her tune,
In restless walks she'll prowl the night;
July, she will fly
And give no warning to her flight.

August, die she must,
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold;
September I'll remember
A love once new has now grown old

CHORUS
Cecilia, you're breaking my heart,
You're shaking my confidence daily.
Oh Cecilia, I'm down on m my knees,
I'm begging you please to come home.
Come on home

CHORUS

Making love in the afternoon with Cecilia
Up in my bedroom,
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to bed,
Someone's taken my place.

CHORUS

Jubilation,
She loves me again,
I fall on the floor and lie laughing

Jubilation,
She loves me again,
I fall on the floor and lie laughing.

The Only Living Boy in New York
Tom, get your plane right on time.
I know your part'll go fine.
Fly down to Mexico.
Da-n-da-da-n-da-n-da-da and here I am,
The only living boy in New York.

I get the news I need on the weather report.
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report.
Hey, I've got nothing to do today but smile.
Da-n-da-da-n-da-da-n-da-da here I am
The only living boy in New York

Half of the time we're gone but we don't know where,
And we don't know here.

Tom, get your plane right on time.
I know you've been eager to fly now.
Hey let your honesty shine, shine, shine
Da-n-da-da-n-da-da-n-da-da
Like it shines on me
The only living boy in New York,
The only living boy in New York.

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mrs Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away

Hazy Shade of Winter
Time, time, time, see what's become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
But look around, leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the salvation army band
Down by the riverside, it's bound to be a better ride
Than what you've got planned
Carry your cup in your hand
And look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes, my friend
That's an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around, the grass is high
The fields are ripe, it's the springtime of my life

Ahhh, seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won't you stop and remember me
At any convenient time
Funny how my memory slips while looking over manuscripts
Of unpublished rhyme
Drinking my vodka and lime

But look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Look around, leaves are brown
There's a patch of snow on the ground...

Song For the Asking
Here is my song for the asking
Ask me and I will play
So sweetly, I'll make you smile

This is my tune for the taking
Take it, don't turn away
I've been waiting all my life

Thinking it over, I've been sad
Thinking it over, I'd be more than glad
To change my ways for the asking

Ask me and I will ply
All the love that I hold inside

For Emily, Whenever I Shall Find Her ::sigh::
What I dream I had:
Pressed in organdy;
Clothed in crinoline of smoky Burgundy;
Softer than the rain.
I wandered empty streets
Down past the shop displays.
I heard cathedral bells
Tripping down the alley ways,
As I walked on.

And when you ran to me
Your cheeks flushed with the night.
We walked on frosted fields of juniper and lamplight,
I held your hand.
And when I awoke and felt you warm and near,
I kissed your honey hair with my grateful tears.
Oh I love you, girl.
Oh, I love you.

AHA!!

In my little town, I grew up believing
God keeps His eye on us all
And He used to lean upon me
As I pledged allegiance to the wall
Lord I recall
My little town

Coming home after school
Flying my bike past the gates of the factories
My mom doing the laundry,
Hanging our shirts in the dirty breeze

And after it rains, there's a rainbow
And all of the colors are black
It's not that the colors aren't there
It's just imagination they lack
Everything's the same back
In my little town

Nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town
Nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town

In my little town, I never meant nothin'
I was just my father's son
Saving my money, dreaming of glory
Twitching like a finger on the trigger of a gun

Leaving nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town
Nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town

Nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town
Nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town
Nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town

And . . .

Still Crazy After All These Years
I met my old lover on the street last night
She seemed so glad to see me; I just smiled
And we talked about some old times and we drank ourselves some beer
Still crazy after all these years
Still crazy after all these years

I'm not the kind of man who tends to socialize
I seem to lean on old familiar ways
And I ain't no fool for love songs that whisper in my ears
Still crazy after all these years
Still crazy after all these years

Four in the morning, tapped out, yawning
Longing my life away
I'll never worry; why should I?
It's all gonna fade

Now I sit by my window and I watch the cars go by
I fear I'll do some damage one fine day
But I would not be convicted by a jury of my peers
Still crazy after all these years
Still crazy, still crazy
Still crazy after all these years

Thank you so much for this trip down memory lane. :) I feel much better too.

I'll add a Paul Simon tune that has always haunted me. I only heard it on the Concert in Central Park.

The Late Great Johnny Ace

I was reading a magazine
And thinking of a rock and roll song
The year was nineteen fiftyfour
And I hadn't been playing that long
When a man came on the radio
And this is what he said
He said I hate to break it to his fans
But Johnny Ace is dead, yeah, yeah, yeah

Well, I really wasn't
Such a Johnny Ace fan
But I felt bad alI the same
So I sent away for his photograph
And I waited till it came
It came all the way from Texas
With a sad and sim-ple face
And they signed it on the bottom
From the Late Great Johnny Ace, yeah, yeah, yeah

It was the year of The Beatles
It was the year of The Stones
It was nineteen sixtyfour
I was living in London
With the girl from the summer be-fore

It was the year of The Beatles
It was the year of The Stones
A year after J.F.K.
We were staying up all night
And giving the days away
And the music was flowing amazing
And blowing my way

On a cold December evening
I was walking through the Christmas tide
When a stranger came up and asked me
If I'd heard John Lennon had died
And the two of us went to this bar
And we stayed to close the place
And every song we played
Was for The Late Great Johnny Ace, yeah, yeah, yeah

For some reason I have latched onto the "me against the world" songs, like I am a Rock or In My Room. Now, Weezer brings me the same feelings sometimes. Two of their songs carried me through much of last year:

Say It Ain't So
Somebody's Heine' is crowdin' my icebox
Somebody's cold one is givin' me chills
Guess I'll just close my eyes

Flip on the tele'
Wrestle with Jimmy
Something is bubbling
Behind my back
The bottle is ready to blow

Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a lifetaker

I can't confront you
I never could do
That which might hurt you
So try and be cool
When I say
This way is a waterslide away from me that takes you further every day
So be cool

Dear Daddy,
I write you in spite of years of silence.
You've cleaned up, found Jesus,
things are good or so I hear.
This bottle of Steven's
awakens ancient feelings.
Like father, stepfather, the son is drowning in the flood.

Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a lifetaker

TennisHack
10-04-2002, 09:58 PM
and . . .

In the Garage -- coincidence?
I've got the Dungeon Master's Guide
I've got a 12-sided die
I've got Kitty Pryde
and Nightcrawler too

Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

I've got posters on the wall
My favorite rock group Kiss
I've got Ace Frehley
I've got Peter Criss
Waiting there for me
Yes I do,I do

In the garage I feel safe
No one cares about my ways
In the garage
Where I belong
No one hears me sing this song
In the garage

I've got an electric guitar
I play my stupid songs I
write these stupid words
and I love every one
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

TennisHack
10-04-2002, 10:02 PM
And, of course:

In My Room
There's a world where I can go and
Tell my secrets to
In my room
In my room

In this world I lock out all my
Worries and my fears
In my room
In my room

Do my dreaming and my scheming
Lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing
Laugh at yesterday

Now it's dark and I'm alone but
I won't be afraid
In my room
In my room

OMG! America!
I love that song. Almost Famous Soundtracks has that one. WOW, thanks Layla!

Btw, great to see you back! ;)

LOL! I could have quoted this instead of writing what I did up there. I couldnt have said it better myself. This song kicks ass.
And its special since it brings some special moments to memory. :)

Ill just miss a whole sunday to get my ass shaped in a rectangle for the hours seating on a chair. :p

Ill try to have fun, though. ;)

Aww, poor you. :( Maybe there will be a score that will cheer you up before you have to leave.

Voting is compulsary there, eh? I wonder how different the politics of my country would be if everyone was forced to vote . . . hmm, perhaps we wouldn't be so hasty to attack Iraq to cover our asses in domestic disputes . . .

If it helps, I'll be thinking of you :) Apparently it helped Layla's computer, so maybe something good will happen to you, too.

Also hellos to Vera & Becca, if you guys are still around :wavey::wavey:

My dad used to love Simon & Garfunkel. I have their double-album Live Concert from Central Park. Jesus, its just AWESOME! And also theres America in the Almost Famous Soundtrack, which kicks ass btw.

Weezer is cool, but I wouldnt kill for them. lol ;) Not among my faves.

Well, you can't put Weezer (though I love them) in the same category as S&G. I suppose I should invest in this live from Central Park album? All I've ever seen are glowing reviews for it :D

Right now I just have The Best of . . . album, which includes a live version of America. Oh, God, that song just ranks waaaaay up there on my list of all-time favorite songs. :sigh:

Well, my dream final won't happen. :( Poor Zhenya lost 6-2 6-4. He won't be the first to win a tournament 6 times in a row.

But what a great win for Sjeng! :bounce: He's really doing great. :)

Marat and Paul-Henri are warming up and the match will be live on Eurosport. :D This is exciting!

Layla
10-05-2002, 05:47 PM
Pffffft. Marat lost as well. I'm happy for Paul-Henri but I like Marat better. This is so disappointing, especially for the Russian crowd. :(

Paul-Henri was very impressive though. Some of his returns were simply amazing. He really got onto Marat's serve. Marat was inconsistent as usual. Some games he would play brilliantly, then he would made horrible mistakes, and I mean horrible. Sort of like Lindsay today. Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde as David Mercer from Eurosport called Lindsay today. Fluctuating performance.

This is good news for my team though. :) Two of them will be in the final and one of them is sure to be the winner. :D

How come you didn't buy your team this week Leo?

More bad news from Vienna: Jarkko & Rogi could set up another clash in the second Tommy Robredo first. ::sigh:: James Blake is also playing here, he's drawn Kiefer in the first round and could face Shalken in the second round. Guess I won't be placing my usual bets next week . . .

GO LINDSAY!!!

10-06-2002, 12:13 PM
Good morning, Layla!

I'm disappointed at Lindsay, losing that match with her inconsistency... but congrats to Maggie Maleeva for playing solid and smart tennis. She deserved it.

If Lindsay had the athletic ability of let's say, Justine Henin, she'd blow everyone away off court! But she's not agile enough...:(

This is too depressing for words. Lindsay lost in the 3rd set tie-break. I was so nervous at the end of the match, my stomach was in a knot. But this is heart-breaking. GRRRRRR! She was so close to her first title of the year. :(

She did play a lot better than yesterday, especially in the first set. But Maleeva was simply great. I suppose she did deserve to win this title  but I'm not happy about it. ARGH! I just want to sream! http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/scream.gif

Morning Mrs. B! :wavey:

How are you today? Is it sunny in Bern? It's quite gray and gloomy in Slovenia.

I had fun last night. It wasn't much of a party, no dancing or anything like that. :( But I did get to talk to a few people and I came home quite late.

TH, what did you do yesterday that was so much fun? ;)

Mrs. B
10-06-2002, 12:29 PM
She could have closed that match at 5-4, 3rd set. But did you see how easily she threw her chances away? I was swearing in front of the tv, i tell you, because i really wanted her to win and especially because she played terrible yesterday, you'd think she'd recover today.

I think Sjeng will win today. He's too consistent. ;)

So did u have a nice evening? I went to bed at 4, we stayed at the tennis club till 3 playing cards...i played in the afternoon and glad that i did 'cuz today the weather here's wet. Well, i'm looking forward to 1730 at Eurosport. :)

Mrs. B

Layla
10-06-2002, 12:35 PM
Lol, I was swearing too. Very loudly, cause I was home alone. ;) I thought she did recover from yesterday in a way. She played a lot better but yes, she through a lot of chances away. Too bad she decided to volley that ball that was clearly going out. :( I hope you're right about Sjeng. :) But Paul-Henri was really impressive. The boy can play that's for sure. Well, he's not a boy anymore but he is quite young.

Sounds like you had a fun night out yesterday. I love staying up and playing cards. :) So does that mean your throat is better now?

Hi, Leo!

I can understand your depression because i saw that match and i was swearing big time! She should have won it. She's one of my faves too and she's a good person and all, but she needs to brush up on her game---movementwise and the mental thing. She doesn't have it at the moment... :(

Leo7
10-06-2002, 01:36 PM

Mrs. B

Yeah, with this gloomy weather in CH and Lindsay's loss, that's enough reason to feel down. :(

Schalken has won the first set, 6-4, but Mathieu leads 3-1 in the 2nd...

Leo7

It's probably a good thing that you missed her match, or else you'd get aggravated...

Well, Paul-Henri has won the 2nd set, 6-2.

Leo7
