ChinoRios4Ever
01-12-2007, 12:41 AM
oh no, what a bad draw
korolev will be so dangerous for feña... JMDP in 2nd too difficult.. hewitt in 3rd... blake in 4th.... wooow

at least no roger, nalbi, ljubo and a-rod in feña's bracket

VAMOS GONZO PLEASE 2ND WEEK IN AO!!!!!!!!

He can beat all of them if he puts his mind into it, I'm more worried for Massu.

Sparko1030
01-12-2007, 01:15 AM
 Not as bad as Nico's draw but bad enough-why do I always think that being seeded means a better draw???? The top 10 seeds ought to be guaranteed qualifiers in the first round  (although of course some of them are dangerous too) Korolev may be dangerous but hopefully Fena will be more dangerous....

NicoFan
01-12-2007, 01:25 AM
Korolev...

Shit another bad draw.

And maybe Lleyton in the third but I'm not sure if Lleyton is a threat since his coach quit.

vs. Korolev and JMDP will be interesting matches but I'm confident about Feña beating them ;) And I really think that Hewitt will withdraw before the 3rd round... If they finally have to meet, actually is the best moment for Feña to beat Hewitt :yeah:

01-12-2007, 02:54 AM
Del Potro is gonna be Dangerous ...

too hard youngters korolev and JMDP... but i hope that feña can show his experience... in the 3rd he MUST beat COME ON!!!

VAMOS FEÑA!!!! 2ND WEEK... PLEASE 2ND WEEK!!!!!

Alonsofz
01-12-2007, 03:39 AM
I think Gonzo will win in 3 sets against Korolev, in 3 or 4 against JMDP, in 4 against Hewitt, in 5 against Blake (or in 3 against Moyá), in 1/4 he will win in 4 sets against Nadal, in semis he will win in 4 or 5 against Davydenko and in the final he will win in 5 over Massú!!!!!

VAMOS NICO Y FEÑA!!!!!

Alx
01-12-2007, 10:12 AM
Not a bad draw for Fena according to me
Korolev and Del Potro are 2 youngs players who can make a surprise but they lack of background in grand slams
Hewitt doesn't play at his best level at that time maybe it will be Ginepri
Fena has already beaten Blake and everybody know Blake's stats for 5 sets matches :p I think Moya would be tougher

Sparko1030
01-12-2007, 02:41 PM
Good points Alx! :yeah:

enqvistfan
01-12-2007, 04:46 PM
Vamos Fernando :bounce:

GonzoFan
01-12-2007, 08:22 PM
I agree with Alx.
Kolorev and Del Potro will be dangerous but Fernando's experience in this kind of tournaments should prevail against those two players and then in 3rd round Lleyton could be very dangerous but considering his actual form, if they face, Fernando has a lot more possibilities of winning that match.
Then in the 4th round come the problems with Blake probably.

Fergie
01-12-2007, 09:10 PM
Blake doesn't play well the GS except in NY ... Feña can reach to QF at least :)

Alonsofz
01-12-2007, 11:01 PM
I think Blake want a revenge (DC 2006 )...

VAMOS FEÑA!

*Viva Chile*
01-13-2007, 03:49 PM
Hewitt said today that there is a huge probability that he finally withdraw from the AO, so if it concretates, Feña's draw will be easier ;)

ChinoRios4Ever
01-13-2007, 05:09 PM
i think Korolev and JMDP will be much difficult than Hewitt for Gonzo

Sparko1030
01-13-2007, 07:01 PM
Well, if Hewitt has to pull out, that is some good news for Fernando. I do wish Hewitt well, though-not my favorite personality but what a great competetor he always is. I hope he will be 100% soon (after the AO that is  )

Nothing to say, good luck in the first match first!

Ferrero Forever
01-14-2007, 06:35 AM
Personally I don't think Blake is the problem, because I really don't think he'll get past Moya. Hewitt isn't a problem, because of his current form. Personally I think if he has to play Moya, then we've got problems. Del Potro doesnt have the experience that Gonzo has, and I don't know all that much about Korolev other than he's gotten some big wins under his belt. It's gonna be tough, but if Gonzo gives it his all (and he always does) then he can do really well here. And the melbourne crowd love him from Kooyong, so he'll have the crowds support as well.

Today I was walking through the grounds, and I saw Carlos Moya so naturally I had to watch that practise session. It took me about a minute to realise that his hitting partner was Gonzo, and Gonzo looked in really good form. I said to him 'You're Awesome' and he winked at me, and gave me one of these huge smiles that brightens up the whole room. I hope he does well tomorrow, though I'm not sure whether I'll be able to watch his match, because Mum wants me to go see Hingis and get some photos hehe.

Great win - I was worried about the match. But once he won the second set tb, I figured (well hoped! ) that the match was his.

JMDP will be very tough - but if Fernando's on his game, he s/b okay. Well, I again hope. Can't take anything for granted. I was impressed with what I saw of JM.

Honestly is too late (or should I say too early) here - 7:00 am - and I haven't sleep anything so don't feel like writing now about the match but I'm happy Fernando got through this VERY difficult match. I didn't think it would so close.

Transcription of Fernando post-match interview from Australianopen.com but the end misses :(

An interview with:
FERNANDO GONZALEZ
THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Quite a big battle for you tonight.
FERNANDO GONZALEZ: Yeah, it was a tough day. I mean, I didn't play my best tennis, but the other guy was serving really good, was returning really well, too.
My serve didn't work in the first three sets. I was (indiscernible) in the beginning of the match.

Q. How are you feeling physically now after that?
FERNANDO GONZALEZ: I'm fine. I mean, I play long match. But maybe we play really short points most of the time.
But I feel okay. Of course, I'm a little bit tired now. But I have two days to recover and play the next match.

Q. What are you expecting from Lleyton Hewitt in your next match?
FERNANDO GONZALEZ: It's going to be tough, like every match in a Slam. But especially here, he's going to have the crowd. He play many time this tournament.
He's really good fighter, but I'm playing good normally most of the time. I think it's going to be a tough match always.

Q. What do you make of his form at the moment? He's dropped in the rankings a little bit.
FERNANDO GONZALEZ: Haven't played too many tournaments. I mean, last time that I saw him was in the US Open. When you

I went to the first 2 hours of the match, and like usual Fena went for all his shots, and he seemed to play well. One thing i don't think was mentioned was the crowd. The Chilean crowd was extremely loud, to the point where Del Potro stopped the match to argue with the Chileans. The Argentine crowd (who were actually australians and just wanted to cheer for someone) and the crowd got into a booing match, and i was really worried because the crowd would not shut up during the points, and both players got really distraced. I thought there was going to be another fight, because the crowd were awful. And also, this was the first time I've heard the chilean chant, and I must admit that i was yelling out CHI CHI CHI, LE LE LE, VIVA CHILE!!! at the top of my lungs. Gonzo is awesome hehe.

Ahora espera repetir esa actuación dejando afuera a Hewitt.

It seems Fernando and Gisela withdrew from the mixed doubles.

Yep, here's the info

The Chilean crowd was extremely loud, to the point where Del Potro stopped the match to argue with the Chileans. The Argentine crowd (who were actually australians and just wanted to cheer for someone) and the crowd got into a booing match, and i was really worried because the crowd would not shut up during the points, and both players got really distraced. I thought there was going to be another fight, because the crowd were awful.

thanxs for the report ;)!! this kind of crap always happens when a chilean and an argentine have to play.

i can tell u about a dozen of incidents which i remember about chileans and argentines from both sides, and this kind of things happens since i remember and comes from a long way back.

this was the first time I've heard the chilean chant, and I must admit that i was yelling out CHI CHI CHI, LE LE LE, VIVA CHILE!!! at the top of my lungs. Gonzo is awesome hehe.

chi-chi-chi-le-le-le Vi-va chi-le!

"Estoy seguro de que voy a ganarle"

I was surprised when I read what he said ... Fernando is not the kind of guy who says things like this.

We know even though Lleyton is not in his best form he will be a very dangerous player above all playing in his home Slam.

Nando's gonna kick Hewitt's ass. I can't wait to see the disappointment on all the Australian fans faces once Gonzo smashes hewitt off the court. I'll have to remember that other Chile chant for next year, and I really had no idea about tension between the Chile and the Argentine crowds. Excuse my ignorance, but who is that Paul guy that was mentioned a few pages back?

Paul Capdeville!;) the number of professional tennis players coming from Chile is really tiny... LOL  so u will see their names often in this board ;)!

(the others are Nicolas Massu and Adrian Garcia *cough* :o)

Thanks. I've seen Nicolas Massu play before, I've heard of Paul Capdeville but had no idea he was Chilean, and I've never heard of Adrian Garcia, so thanks for clearing that up for me.

I hope he didn't say that because if he loses, he will look like a bit stupid. Or maybe, he has suddenly an excess of confidence, don't think personally that he should be so confident regarding his results. Maybe, the journalists said that instead of Fernando. As you said, he's not that kind of person. Hewitt in front of his crowd and with his "c'mon", the atmosphere will be warm tonight !! I hope it's going to be tough for you GF but enjoy the match with your two faves

Honestly, I can't imagine Fernando saying that.

Thanks EF. I hope it is a good match.

translation - "I have the game to beat him but I know it's going to be a tough match, he is a fighter from the beggining to the end".

This is a quote from La Cuarta.
That's something Fernando would say.
