Rainy day in Noumea, only 2 matches were finished when I got the news about the tournament:
Kuznetzov b. Odesnik 6/7 6/1 7/6
Klec b. Faurel 2/6 6/3 6/4

Sidorenko was leading 6/2 5/3 against Tourte, 1 set all between Ascione and Lopez, the matches were suspended again because of the rain (but maybe they're over now, that was about 2 hours ago).

Did you see the match? No, it comes from the press information sent by somebody working at the tournament (I can't give you a link, sorry, I got it per e-mail):

The rest is more a list of results, nothing new.
Russel won in 51 minutes and barely made an error, according to the article.

Can copy and paste as much information as you have (french, english) about the tournament from the start to the end. Exactly what you did for the bohli/tsonga match, please!I can post the press information I get per e-mail, but it's in French, so maybe it's annoying for the non-French speakers? People can also ask me per PM if they are interested.

Here is the main article I got yesterday (the last match wasn't completed yet, Kuznetsov-Oudsema ended at 1:30 am):

Truc
01-05-2007, 08:46 AM
And this morning, I got this:

You see, it doesn't say much about what happened during the matches anyway.

Anyway it gives us a glimpse of what happened!

Merci encore! :wavey:

The article in French:David Guez, France - n°219 / Michael Russel, USA - n°144, tête de série n°4

Here's roughly what the article says about the matches:

The 1/4 finals:
Russel was leading 6/1 4/2 against Ascione and closed it out easily 6/1 6/2.
Lacko was leading 5/4 against Llodra. After losing the first set 6/4, Llodra seemed in control when he won the second set 6/3 and was a break up in the set 4/2, but he let the match slip away.
In the last 1/4 final, Okum suffered to beat Oudsema 6/3 6/4 because he's having a gastro-enteritis and needed to call the doc a few times...

In the first 1/2 final, Okun had to retire against Russel because he was still ill.
In the other semi-final, Guez probably had a little advantage since Lacko had already had a hard match against Llodra. Lacko looked tired and Guez won 7/5 6/2

The comments about the final:
The article says again Russel has been very impressive this week (physically, he doesn't make errors, his fighting spirit...)
Guez has had tight matches, but he never had to play a seeded player since they all were beaten before he had to play them. He's discreet, serious, painstaking... His game, flat and deep, reminds a little bit Simon who won last year.
