No problem Nathii. Are you sure the event has been downgraded? On the ATP site it says $100,000+H. (http://www.atptennis.com/en/tournaments/fullcalendar/challengers2007.pdf)

I don't think the prize money makes that much of a difference in the field anyway, most players are South Americans and are there because of the location. Well, the high prize money and points are obviously better for the ones who come and take advantage.

I felt suggested by the discussion in the overview 2007 thread. I read it was reduced to 50.000$

Indeed some Southies don't really feel like going Down Under and prefer playing challengers here. The prize is relevant for sure for Saretta who's defending points!

EDIT - INDEED THERE'S WRITTEN 100.000$ SO PERHAPS THEY"RE RIGHT :p

I am 100% sure it read $50K+H before. But the field was already not worthy of a $100K+H and it still isn't :haha:

Yeah I had seen $50,000+H on the Steve G site too, perhaps in the last few weeks they managed to get a powerful sponsor that secured the maintenance of the prize.

I agree, they shouldn't bother with the prize, it seems like they are giving money away the way it is now. But like I said, at least it helps the Brazilian players in terms of ranking (and money). ;)

Finally.

How many money here?? 100.000+h or 50.000

Following Atp 2007 Calendar: http://www.atptennis.com/en/tournaments/fullcalendar/challengers2007.pdf = 100.000+h

Maybe we should implement on challengers , the tournament prize money on thread title or in the thread first page (with the entry list)

already knew all of them :o

something more difficult, let's go straight to lesson 23

Okay... The first edition of this tournament took place in 2001, and the wooden spoon winner was Marcio Carlsson from Brazil (WC).

Wooden Spoon gets the one who loses in 1st round to the one who failed in 2nd round to quaterfinal's loser, kicked out by a semifinal-defeated chap, who lost to eventual winner.

:p And the winner was Saretta, defeating Coria.

Last night there was some big money losing on PimPim, hahaha. Personally I expected a tight match, but PimPim's win, nevertheless looks like Florent adores Adelaide and vice versa.

I'll go bankrupt one day with backing my 'children' JMDP, Korolev, Gael... ;) Oh.. JMDP and Korolev actually won last night for a change ;)

Hocevar had his service broke. He has a nice net game although he plays more on the baseline.

Nathalia, I wished we could see more tournaments on TV here. We got some local challengers on TV like this Sao Paulo one, the South America clay tournaments in the beginning of the year, the Masters Series and the Grand Slams. I think your situation must be better than mine about TV

Not really. Eurosport shows WTA and Slams except Wimbledon, Polshit Sport shows some Masters (taped mainly) and Wimbledon, national TV couldn't care less. Oh, they show Sopot's final and make studio Sopot every day. Studio Sopot looks this way that they catch VIPs on Sopot's Monte Cassino Heroes Avenue and ask them if they came for a tennis tournament. The final's broadcoasting looks this way - in 2005 they asked Monfils before the final to play 2 short sets because they didn't have much time on TV.

LOL anout Monfils... We don't get any WTA tournament on TV but the Grand Slam and The Masters Cup, I think..
So, almost the same situation down here... Though any national TV broadcasts our Brasil Open. The only time tennis got national TV broadcast was when Guga was winning Roland Garros. Pretty sad.

Oh, local TV once bumped into the tennis hall where there was a semi of Wrocław futures, and they couldn't have chosen a better moment, because the Polish umpire made over 20 errors in favour of Rosol (CZE) against Przysiężny (POL), so Przysiężny started to serve from below and :shout: at her, Rosol started to :shout: at Przysiężny, Rosol's coach (Slava Dosedel) was falling from his seat of laughter, supervisor didn't do anything because the umpire was her daughter, and the guys taped it all.

I haven't seen a match of both. I think Ghem started on ATP Tour events last year, playing against Guga at Brasil Open, right? And Lisnard is much more experienced than Ghem but I don't know if Lisnard is in form. Ghem obtained his rank playing well in Futures and Challengers, I think. He played once against Lisnard, in Germany last year in a clay court and he won.
It must be a pretty hard game for both and sure whoever wins in this game will win against Hocever, who is near to win the game now. 30-00 and 5-0 in the third set

Yep, he won against some good challenger players last year like both brothers Lapentti, Alves, Ferreiro, Julio Silva, Santopadre...

And yep Nathalia, it normally rains much in Sao Paulo during the summer. Even in the Northeast, where I am now, which is known by its hot weather and almost no rain, it's a cloud sky and probably it will rain during the afternoon.

I'm on Silva also because of TT. I think Saretta will have a tough job to win Silva.
Thiago Alves lost right now in Chennai. He should be playing there in Sao Paulo...
Yep, it is really now fun to rain when you are close to the beach and you wanna go there but it's raining.
If the rain delays some matches, I think they may use a indoor arena here in Sao Paulo called the Unisys Arena.

Hmm, bathing in the sea during the rain it is also cool, and very sexy, but you obviously won't get the tan out there.

No no, Santopadre is crap, actually he's married to the daughter of Polish football player from 1980s, named Zbigniew Boniek (he played in Juventus).

Saretta is the defending champion :awww: And the more experienced Brazilian who whould give a good hair washing to unexperienced one :awww: Hey what's your opinion about Dabul-Ferreiro, by the way ;)

Yeah, I dunno what for Alves went to Chennai if he's losing even to Rastogi (hahaha.) I hope for Santi Giraldo's win over Andreev.

Hmm, bathing in the sea during the rain it is also cool, and very sexy, but you obviously won't get the tan out there.

I don't know why he lost for Rastogi, i'm so sure he's stronger than him. I think he should have waited more to start playing more International Series tournaments.
Poland was a strong football squad a long time ago, right?
Wow, nice, it starts to rain here in Salvador, near to where will happen the Brasil Open.
Yep, it is sexy when you are with a girl but I don't think it's right to me to get some girl up here in Salvador, some people may not be happy down there in Sao Paulo :P And I don't think it's sexy only me bathing in the sea alone LOL.
Yep, Saretta won three times the Sao Paulo Open, I think. But he lost against Guga, which still is in a bad form. So, it will be a hard game in my opinion for Saretta. As I said, Silva has a strong baseline game...
I don't know about Dabul, Ferreiro is a good player, he was a good junior player.

Yay for sunshine! :D

Uhmm, as for bathing in the sea, even if I was alone, I'd still be sexy :p Just not many admirers around ;);)

I agree Alves should make a start in S.America international series.

Hmm, Dabul was the #1 junior player and he's born same year as Ferreiro  Actually, Dabul leads 4-0 h2h but these matches were very old...

Uhm, Santi Giraldo is being badly beaten :awww:

Yep, you're a woman and you're beautiful and it is more commom to women to take sea baths alone than men. So...

Really? Didn't know this about Dabul. I knew brazilian tennis media talked well about Ferreiro... The winner of Dabul vs Ferreiro will play against winner of Saretta vs Silva, right?

:D LOL Dabul is really, really small.

This 0-15 ball now was a very good move by Silva. Saretta was playing near the net and Silva was in the middle of the court and Silva made a powerful shot and Saretta didn't get it

Dabul - Yeah, he's Ollie Rochus' height I guess :p He's left handed and admires Rios ;) I've heard they have similar characters.

Check his juniors' scores

Remember that there is any drying court machine for the other courts so, the match's situation there must be worst than the center court where Saretta is playing
