except 4 rogi, Yves if my fave Swiss player. Any comments about him?

He is a very friendly guy, who is Roger's best friend on the tour.

He comes from the Valias region, his father is Italian descent and he speaks French, Swiss German/German, English and Italian.

Is trying to get his singles ranking down, but mainly concentrating on his doubles this year.

He is concentrating on doubles? Hadn't noticed that at all.

In my opinion, Yves is a good grass court player. He gets very, very frustrated if he loses and unfortunately he hasn't managed much more than qualifying a few times.

Action Jackson

He doesn't have the best return of serve under pressure and his groundstrokes are up and down, he should be doing a bit better in singles than he is, but there are many people with more talent who are like that.

well, i saw him playing a lot of times, i live in switzerland. He played once with arnaud fontaine doubles. He's kind a nice person, by the why, allegro

Glad he contributed to the DC victory, looked really happy

Any reason why his concentrating on doubles?

Just had a look at his singles record and it isn't *that bad* so with a bit of luck he court certainly get his ranking far up

Action Jackson
03-13-2004, 11:21 AM
I think his doubles ranking is reasonable now, he can get into most tournaments even though he has only won 1 title.

That being the case this is a direct quote " I gonna try to play some singles qualies to try to get back to a better ranking...but my priority is doubles..."

He can get in the doubles, so the events he enters, he'll try and qualify for my singles events he got in Scottsdale.

He is much better on the faster surfaces, but he needs to improve his concentration and sometimes his returns aren't great, though he made the one on the match point in the Davis Cup.

he seemed a very nice guy when he came in romania 4 the dc. he was quite good at doubles and if he prefers doubles it's alright!

Good job Yves!!

Good job Yves!!

In the DC brochure he said that the DC is the most important event for him - he would rather win the DC salad-trophy than win a GS...

You are 100% correct...it was not all about Roger. It was a Swiss affair! And if you talk to Roger, he would say the same.

:) I'm already to cheer on the Swiss DC team vs. GB in September!!

Here's a pic I took of Yves Allegro at the TMS Montreal05. I was there for a few days w my sister.

Saturday August 6
On court 6, someone my sister thought was Yves Allegro was practising so she took a pic to be sure. I later verified that indeed it was Yves.

Monday August 8
We popped in to see Yves Allegro practising on court 4.

R1 Nadal/Robredo d Allegro/Hrbaty on Court central
Not the best of matches and it looked as though the Spaniards would lose the first set when they came storming back to win in a tiebreak! They then went on the win the match fairly easily. Yves Allegro hit some amazing shots himself but wasn’t helped by his teammate Hrbaty, the liability.

After the match as we headed out past the gates we took a peek at the door where the players leave and we saw several Spanish-speaking guys come through, as well as Yves Allegro and probably Stan Wawrinka [we couldn’t quite tell as it was rather dark]. Yves seemed to be looking at us – maybe it’s because I had wished him and the Swiss team Bonne chance! for Davis Cup.

I was wondering who would play with him

2 situations:

Federer/Allegro play, they win then no Roger on Sunday
Bastl/Allegro play, they win then no Roger on Sunda either :p
Bastl/Allegro play, they lose and then Roger brings the 3rd point home on Sunday :p

I think the Swiss should try to win the doubles match as good as it gets, in my opinion. So, I hope Roger/Yves show up tomorrow!!

:haha: :sobbing:  :rolls: That is SO true  !!! He is so funny

And hey did you hear what he said? The lady interviewing him said "Hey Yves, you even have a song just for you, with your name [ndlr: Alle Alle Allegroooooooooooooooooo, Allegroooooooooooo, Allegrooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, etc...], that's really nice!" And Yves answered: "Yeah my name is quite good for creating songs with it, that's surely why I have been selected in the Swiss Team" :haha:

this weekend we saw again how much this DC means to our Yves... he is such a fighter and the "heart" of our team... when he is playing he gives more than 100 % and when he is sitting next to the court he is more standing and cheering and shouting and teaches the supporters to be loud :)

 it was sooo sad when we saw how he cried several minutes on his chair after this loss in the double... and in the newspaper he said better winning with bad playing than loosing after playing the best ever...

hope his dream of winning the DC will once be reality... HOPP SCHWIIZ!!!
