Hrbaty can't stay in hot form in very hot condition there.

what happened to hrbaty? that match was a bit short and sweet....paradorn leads 3-2 in their head to head meetings now

Toppu
03-03-2004, 10:04 AM
Paradorn did not play well today in my opinion as I was watching live broadcast on Thai TV 7. Hrbaty showed some bad signs since the very first game of the match, missing easy shots and looking sluggish while Paradorn was trying to close out all the points quickly. Would you believe it ? Since the first game Dominik (who was sick) closed his service game a lot easier than Paradorn did. Hopefully Paradorn can improve on his game before the 2 masters series in the US. I think Dominik cannot stand with the heat in UAE because he went from France unlike Paradorn who lost early in France.

GO GO Paradorn, not that I wish injuries on other players but it gives him more rest and preperation for the next match.

The Nadal v Rochus should be good, they met on clay once and rochus won 6-2 6-2 but that was ages ago and nadal is a different proposition thesedays.

Prodigy

It might be hard to go from cold indoor to hot & humid outdoor for Hrbaty. He retired due to some kind of sickness. Eurosport said it was bronchitis.

Geez, Youzhny is starting to join Grosjean and Gaudio on the list of players you'd least like to serve for your life, isn't he? He failed to serve out against Schuettler in Lyon last year and lost, failed to do so again playing him in Doha this year but was lucky to get through in two sets, and now has done exactly the same vs. Van Scheppingen.

But eventually lost 3 and 5. Darn, now I'll have to put up with Nadal's banshee shrieking on my TV in the quarters... still, Nieminen's up 7-6, 4-3 so something's going right. Go Sjeng for later!

armaniman
03-03-2004, 12:19 PM
it looked good at one time in second set, ah well someone will put an end to nadals run.

Santaro up later against your man Sjeng,,,, Schalken leads 2-0 in head to heads, the last meeting at the french didnt suggest its going to be that close today.

Good work, Rafa, Jarkko and Misha... I figured it was time for Dominik to crash... so Sjengst, Paradorn's still in... now to cheer for Sjeng!!

Phew, that was tight! They played in the same round in Dubai last year when Santoro was the defending champion, and he served for the match at 5-3 in the third only to eventually lose 3-6, 7-6, 7-6. From the sounds of it Schalken was lucky to scrape through in the end - 40-0 up serving for the match and he ends up having to save breakpoint? Still, he's defended his points from last year, and has a winnable match against Nieminen... I want to see that Schalken-Federer semi!

RogiFan88

Oh yeah me too. I want to see Sjeng bow down and kiss Roger's feet before the match. I wonder what gifts Sjeng would bring to the temple of ninja. :worship: :rolls:

RogiFan88
03-03-2004, 08:01 PM
Dirk, Sjeng's a self-confessed federerfan, but I somehow doubt he'll go that far...

Sjengster
03-03-2004, 08:15 PM
Dirk's above comment is almost enough to make me wish Federer loses before the semifinals. I don't think I've ever hoped for that before. Rest assured, there will be no grovelling from Schalken if they do meet - he'll play as best as he can, and the chances are that won't be anywhere near good enough, but rarely has he just handed Federer the victory.

Sjengster
03-04-2004, 01:14 AM
Ah, but since he's playing Robredo tomorrow, you definitely wish for him to lose before the semis. ;)

Chloe le Bopper
03-04-2004, 01:36 AM
Ah, but since he's playing Robredo tomorrow, you definitely wish for him to lose before the semis. ;)

Yes, but realistically, I would be very surprised if Robredo managed to even make it very close.

If nothing else, he'll still be around in doubles, heh

Sjengster
03-04-2004, 01:44 AM
But unlike against Roddick, Robredo has had some close contests with Federer - he beat him the first time they met in the Hopman Cup (but lost to him the very next week in the first round of Sydney in two tiebreaks) and was a point away from serving for the match in Vienna. Only once has he been absolutely thrashed, although I would never have expected that to come on clay as it did last year. When they last met in Montreal Robredo was the better player in the first set but couldn't take his six breakpoints whereas Federer broke to win it on his first breakpoint of the match.

Dirk
03-04-2004, 02:50 AM
Oh come on Sjengster. I was just joking. I like your man. Just trying to be funny that is all. :bounce: I do think Tommy could do damage to Roger. Tommy is fast and could take advantage of Roger's mental lapses.

Sjengster
03-04-2004, 09:25 PM
And failing miserably, that's all. It's like tangerine going into a player's cheering thread and celebrating their defeat - a kind of humour that's guaranteed to be appreciated by nobody except the purveyor.

Dirk
03-04-2004, 10:41 PM
This is livescores not Sjeng forum. Both of those guys are friends and Sjeng jokes about it so why are you so uptight? Since I didn't type I'm sorry in the last post I will do that here. I'm sorry I like Sjeng. He has an unusual game which is very effective. If they make the semis it should be real fun.

Mikel
