Although it looks pretty damn nice, that was not to best time to try the air sampras. He needs to save that shot for blowout sets even then it is still a stupid shot, i remember Mark P a couple years ago at the Us Open trying that shot and coming down really hard and had to retire.

But it was good to see him miss it bad. It made me laugh.

I don't think he was trying to showboat at all. I think it was an awkward shot that he received and with little time he did what he could (that was my impression)

I think the shot was a combination of him showing off (cause he obviously took his eye off the ball) and it just being a difficult shot. he literally had to jump if he wanted to get it.

That lob ball fly pretty fast and Andy was rushing to the net at full speed. I don't think he could stop and back away for an easy overhead. I think it was a legitimate miss, a forced error.

Yeah, you're right.

He should've done it when he was beating down Ljubo in the third set.

I thought it was great. I was at the student center, in line for food, and they were showing the match on one of the big screen TVs. it made me laugh. :worship:

I don't think he was showboating. It was more because of the setpoint at 6-4 when he played a weak forehand volley allowing Fed the easy pass. He must have decided that next time he wasn't going to try n play it weakly but in trying to play an aggressive shot with that much adrenaline flowing he just went for too much.

When in doubt, let the ball bounce. It was an awful miss. Lost him the match pretty much.

I'd argue the easy forehand he missed at 4-1 lost him the match, not to mention the missed first serve at 6-4. By the time he hit the overhead, he'd already mentally collapsed from his missed opportunities.

It's difficult to overcome losing to a player who has your number.

It was a tough shot, even if he'd made it I still don't think he'd have won. His chance was at *4-1 and *6-4 in the tie break.
