In the Round Robin, Nadal is the only player in the top 8 that did not win a set!

It's a pity that being good at "spotting the odd one out" doesn't get anyone very far...

Do you still think it was playing in the US that made Blake win against Nadal? :) Maybe, some credit can be given!

James schooled Nadal again...

It's true, but it doesn't say anything so far. He played against his strongest opponent in the group and we he have lately seen how Nadal has problems on hardcourts with such kind of players.

There is still everything possible for him in this tournament.

So what? This was just the first match. The important thing is to qualify for the semis and he is not out yet.

I didn't say that was the only reason...and I did say that Nadal's injury made it difficult for me to be confident in him beating Blake...

I say nadal still advances. He will beat Davydenko and Robredo. I think Blake is the worst matchup for him in the entire field (Federer included).

He himself said he was 100% fit....

True, but isn't it strange that it was Rafa's *service* that wasn't working today? And there have been earlier occasions where he said he was 100% fit while it became clear afterwards that he wasn't.
Good of him, BTW, to not blame any possible injuries for his loss. He's a good fellow. Hope he gets through on his next matches.

His serve hasn't been working since wimbledon...has he been injured all that time??

Nope, and I never said that was the main reason for his serve not working (nor did he himself). But he did go through some minor injuries (left foot, abdominal tear) which might well have had their effects on his playing since Wimbly, if not just mentally.
He said he's been working on improving his serve - and more often than not, improvement is a process of 'two steps ahead (Wimbly), one step back (rest of season)'. Could well be the same here. Anyway, don't rule him out yet - there's still two matches for him to come.

give me time & he will come good
might turn to make a mauresmo like advance to the tournie but actually win it
this is what is appealing about round robin, there is still a chance for anyone
thou i prefer they count to head to head as opposed to sets won & games
Blake must have played really well
i am gutted we dont have any channel broadcasting the tournie
its sucks,
eurosport showing scoring & comments, but it definitely doesnt count for not seeing it live

I dunno but what you posted above sounds like you were blaming his ab tear on his poor serve and by extension the poor match.

We've had arguments before over nadal...and guess what they never went anywhere.

That's very true... and as I rather not get involved in any FedTard vs. PorkDork fight, let's just leave it here. Peace, man! ;)

It may be that the draw has worked well for him. He will not have to face Blake again until the final and there is a chance that somebody else could beat Blake.

In terms of likelihood of beating Nadal I feel the following is probably true from most difficult to easiest:

Blake, Federer, Roddick, Ljubicic, Nalbandian, Davydenko and Robredo.

I'd agree with that. James is tough for Rafa, no doubt about it - but James isn't going to beat Roger. Like EVER. I'm really hoping to be able to see Rafa and Roddick play each other finally.

blake is a tough opponent for nadal especially given nadal's hard court form this year. there's no need for him to panic though. he will beat robredo and his game against davyenko should be awesome, i reckon
