He once has been a young, really prospecting player of switzerland. But recurrent problems with his knee and problems with his digestion which was just found out in a kind of really seldom disease, called celiac disease, one year ago stopped his plans again and again to continue playing on the circus.

Now, after a further operation at his knee, he plans to comeback in 2007.

I really admire his fighting spirit, which he often showed on the tennis-court as well, and wish him all the best of luck to return on the ATP Tour and hope of the end of his tale of woe which he obviously had to suffer the past years like a talented Nicolas Escude who unfortunately had to finished his career this may cuz of his shoulder problems.

Yes...he really had to suffer a lot of setbacks but always had the energy and will to come back.

Hopefully he will be able to return in a good physical condition in 2007. If he comebacks in that way capturing a spot under the Top 50 again is really doubtful for me ( his best position was about 35), but at least tjhe Top100 should be possible.

I just found some older german-wirtten source of this year:

I just hope if he can make it back to the top flight he returns with a reputable second serve, in some respects he was the Dementieva of his day with the number of double faults he hit.

Funny how you completely forget about some players until someone brings up their name again. Best of luck to him.

Yeah Sjengster...his second serve really wasn`t that famous at all:cool: , but he really has had a good return game and a really good forehand, which he uses as one of his best weapons.

Yeah as there are so many newcomers on the tour day by day and month by month u sometimes start to forget about all those being injured for a longer time or taking some kinda rest for other reasons.

For me it is just great again that some of the "old tigers":) are come backing again

Yeah it is really nice to see him coming back. He once told in an interview that his family and his girlfriend gave him that kinda confidence and energy back to return to the circuit again after so many setbacks
