hello guys,
i am so curious about knowing more and more about challenger, futures and or satellite events.but something really bugs me that i dunno the full conditions for a player to get wild cards into challenger and futures main draw!
i've seen many players getting wc without even having played any atp or itf match, but have seen many professional players who must appeal to get it!
can someone clear me up 'bout this issue??
thnx,

Usually you have to pay for it, most players do that here, they pay as much as 5,000-10,000 Euro for a challenger WC.

It depends on the country that you are in. In the US, the wildcards for Challengers are decided on by the USTA. The tournament director is usually given one wildcard for the qualies, the doubles, and the main draw and the USTA will choose the rest. If the USTA doesn't need to use the wildcards, the TD is allowed to decide on more of them. This week, it looks like the TD at Champaign was given more wildcards into qualies, a few guys from the college team are in the draw.

As for Europe and South America, its been posted on more than one tennis board that they sell their wildcards to the highest bidder.

It's a combination of wild card buying and awarding wild cards to local players, players that are a member of that club, national talents, international big promises and formerly high-ranked players that try to fight back.

Everything in this world you can have for money my friend, and there are times when not necessarily you need to speak out loud about it.

One of these times is when you enter any tournament venue and you boast about the card you have bought.
