The only way tennis can win is if someone from the crowd throws an egg at Ljubicic and hits him bang on that shiny bald head.

Ouch that's alittle harsh.

"He's a little weird. He can play great or he can play horrible. He's spoiled..." - Ivan on Gasquet

"He is Andy Roddick, we are in the States, and if somebody says something bad about him, then it's a big boom. I'm sorry if he's expecting everybody's going to like him. He thinks he's the best, the greatest, the most beautiful. But that's not the case..." on Andy Roddick again

This is tough to predict, given that we have no indication on their current form. It is also the case that they should be similarly motivated to finish in the top-4 for the year. Andy in 3 in a nervous match with 2 breaks of serve for the entire match.

Difficult to pick the winner of the serving greats; serving being the area in which both players excel. In terms of return of serve, baseline game and volleys they are both competent. However, it is possible that the match may have no service breaks.

Ljubo's disillusioned...

I think Ljubo is the slight favourite for this match going on Roddick's worse service return.

Well....out of those players who beat him there, the Lopez loss is the only one that is truly :retard: :retard: :retard:

I think you can make a case that the other players have a fairly good return game...Ivan is pretty much all serve and his groundies are relatively average. Put him against a decent returner and he is going to struggle. Roddick's return is pretty ugly though, and he doesn't know much about rallying...and even if he did make it to tiebreaks vs Baldy...I wouldn't give him the edge to win 2 of them based his current record.

If Ivan was really a top 10 player he wouldn't be losing 1st round at USO, or in finals against people he has never lost to. Did you watch any of these matches where he lost!? He played like shit, infact Ivan hasn't played well in quite sometime. Since Roland Garros Ivan has been in a slump and I think this slump will continue all the way until Ivan is out of the top 10 because he doesn't belong there. Ivan is a top 30 player that has been playing top 10 tennis, time for him to go back where he belongs. This summer he's played like his ranking should be...out of the 10 because he simply isn't as talented as the rest of the guys.

This match will be interesting because Roddick has been playing better tennis lately. Andy is back to playing his potenial and that's better that I have ever seen. All you have to is watch the Gasquet match in Vienna to see how truly confident and how much improved Andy is at the moment. Annnnyyways, like I said Andy in 3.

Really?

I might agree for a player who sporadically moves into the top 10, but Ljubicic has spent over 50 weeks in a row in the top 10 including over 25 weeks in a row in the top 5.

A player who is not top 10 standard is unlikely to spend so long in the top 5.

Apart from Federer and to a lesser extent Nadal, I would not say his ability or talent is not that much different from the other players outside the top 2.

A player who is not top 10 standard is unlikely to spend so long in the top 5.

Apart from Federer and to a lesser extent Nadal, I would not say his ability or talent is not that much different from the other players outside the top 2.
Looks very similar to Shuettler's record.

Getty - James Blake of the USA (L) chats with compatriot Andy Roddick (C) as Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia looks on during a portrait shoot on November 10, 2006 at a club in Shanghai, China.

Really?

I might agree for a player who sporadically moves into the top 10, but Ljubicic has spent over 50 weeks in a row in the top 10 including over 25 weeks in a row in the top 5.

Expect Roddick to win 7-6, 7-6 in the battle of the servers. It will be interesting to see if either player contaminates the match with tennis.   Or  returns of serve.

have you seen andy's TB record lately? If it goes to TBs, Andy's not winning.

I bet the result will be the exact opposite, with Ljubicic winning 2 TBs.

Unless something incredible happens, it looks like Ljubo's gonna pull a Nalby. 5-1 in the third.

Nalbandian yes..easy and its always good match vs Roger. but he really needs to win one...Andy will lose to both Roger and David and David will lose to Ivan...3guys with 1-2 record.
