whatever happened to Jan Michael Gamble??

did he retire? This guy has really just faded away. He made a career out of scraping out a few good wins in American and Asian hardcourt tournies - his record in Europe was horrible. I remember when he beat Courier and Agassi at Indian Wells a few years ago, he was supposed to be the next great American hardcourt ball basher, but then Roddick came along and stole his thunder.

if you really cared you would have learned how to spell his name

Roddick thunder-stealing aside, I'm pretty sure that some injuries had to do with Gambill's struggles on tour.

Just a mature response

I'm not sure what happened to him, think he may have retired but not too sure.

he had shin problems, then a pretty bad shoulder injury for most of this year.

He's played 3 tourneys all year and retired in 2 of them...

he's hardly my fave player but I see no need to laugh at someone who's been struggling with pretty serious injuries

C'mon Jan-Mike rocks...

If there's a tennis player that is on the tour that looks like someone that would play me in my autobiographical movie, I mean, ya know closest resemblance it would be Jan-Mike. ;)

haha...anyways this is a forum full of lazy posters...

Yes, I was at work all day :). And yes, he has been injured, very badly, since about this time last year. He played team tennis for Houston in July, played Legg Mason in DC (lost to Henman in the second round), played the Binghamton Challenger the next week, retiring in the second round, and he's been home in Hawaii ever since, trying to heal the injury and come back. In the meantime, he's coaching a little bit and checking his myspace page at least once a day. If the injury heals, he'll be back.

It's Gambill, by the way.

I'm sorry to inform you that Jan-Mike has declined the Fumus role, but luckily Serena Williams has agreed to play the part. :tennis:

Oh, goodness, she'll freak out!!! I totally believe the gay rumours.

Its weird, I never thought his career would end like this. All the other pros figured out his game and he was never able to overcome that.
