I am not sure players will be allowed to withdraw without some penalty this year. Last years masters and Paris does seemed to have generated problems

10. Fernando Gonzalez - 403
11. Tommy Haas - 378
12. Marcos Baghdatis - 372

Haas has a slender chance to play in Shanghai. Gonzo... who knows ;)
One year ago Gonzo played in Shanghai as No. 13, Maybe will be replay this year ;)

Last year it was 1, 4, 6, 8 which would mean this time:

then
Nadal, Davydenko, Roddick, Nalbandian

if I am not mistaken

The top seed will be placed in group 1 and the second seed will be placed in group 2. Players seeded 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8, will then be drawn in pairs with the first drawn placed in group 1. (from www.stevegtennis.com)

As a matter of fact, Gonzalez is one of the hottest players(I'm talking tennis of course :)) right now. A shame he was tired in Paris.

And by the way, he said in an interview that he won't go as a reserve and will start to train for the 2007 campaign that will start in Kooyong so Haas in the 2nd reserve for Shanghai.

It doesn't really seem to matter which players Federer will be drawn against in round robin.
It ALL depends on who NADAL gets to play.

Nalby, Denko, and Roddick are excellent choices.
Also Roddick vs. David.

If 1,4,5,8 is the correct formula, then we've got.

Red group: Federer, Ljubicic, Roddick, Blake
Blue Group: Nadal, Davydenko, Robredo, Nalbandian

Semifinals:
Federer vs. Davydenko
Nadal vs. Blake

The groups are way open, but those are my picks.
