Who will win the year end master?

Other is in case of withdrawls. Believe it will be Federer or Roddick who at their best are probably the best 2 players in the event.

Federer, but I'd love to see Robredo win it.

Federer's biggest risk would be a semi-final against Nadal. Federer likely to qualify from his group and almost certain to win over 5 sets. However, 3 sets semi-final with Nadal could go either way.

I'm not sure Nadal will play and, even if he does, he won't be in shape to beat Federer.

I don't see anyone causing him any problems, unless Fat Dave plays his best.

Federer is in very good form, therefore he is the absolute favorite. Pretty much all the other players are having problems at the moment and even if they all show up 100% ready they still don't have many chances
If Nadal shows up and is fit (highly unlikely) he could cause Feds some trouble (and who knows he might even win it). If he doesn't they might as well give the trophy to Roger and let everyone get on with their vacation... and us do something productive with our lives instead of quarreling on MTF.

I can also not see anyone except Federer winning it. I like David as a player a lot, but this year he has had his worst indoor season in 4 years and I don't see him magically regaining his standard of play which would allow for him to challenge Federer.

Nadal is the only other guy who could give Roger trouble, but we all know that he has been far from his best lately.

Will be Roger's 3rd TMC title which could have been his 4th straight after coming within 2 points last year. Amazing to say the least.

These are quality players who have no business losing to Roddick.

Although I can see Roddick getting a sneak win over Nalbandian and Blake.
And even against them, he's on a 4-match losing streak.

Capable of winning matches at the MC would be the reasonable deduction to make.

And even against them, he's on a 4-match losing streak.

If he gets Rafa, PMK and Blake he should have a reasonable chance of winning a match or two. He actually has a reasonable record against most of the top ten (Federer aside) so could do well. Depends on his fitness.

Edit: And to answer the question, probably Federer.

Blake only barely won the last match against Roddick. I'd give him a better than 50% chance to beat Nadal, Robredo, Davydenko, and about a 50% chance to beat Nalbandian or Blake. So I guess I'm guilty of considering him "the real deal

Federer , but I want Roddick, at least I want Roddick- Federer final , 2nd and 3rd USOPEN final sets were awesome.

Roddick could be a factor beacuse this surface suits his game, Rebound Ace is great because his second serve kick is monster on this surface(as wekk as Ljubicic serve)
he is in form, rested long enough he was training hard with Jimmy last weeks so he could be full of confidence

against Federer he could be close match especially in best of 3 sets format
against Nadal - he is better right now, I like Rafa very much, but he is out of form, is suffering from injury and he used to suffer against power hitters with huge serve recently.
against Davydenko- no problem, Nicolay could be tired and surafce suits Roddick game better than Davydenko's. He also has mental edge ove him
against Nalbandian - he was comfortable aginst Fat Dave usually (of course not in USOpen semis) and what is more Nalby is out of form and shape recently
against Ljubicic - coming from injury, out of form, Roddick could win and make it close, I would give Andy 60% in such encounter
against
against Robredo - Robredo is joke against Andy 8-0 not even a single set won, and Andy could easily make it 9-0
against Blake - I am sure that Andy will win, Blake is another player out of form in TMC, he looked really bad in Madrid and Paris, 65% for Andy win

even in grup with Federer he could make it to final, in other gruop I believe him to win group beacuse Nadal played some really bad matches against players with similiar game to Andy(PIM PIM, Bedrych - not winning a set). And I remember how Andy was albe to move Nadal around with his serve in USopen and Davis Cup(I know that he lost in DC but it was very close match , Nadal is diffeent player right now but he has serious problems with huge serves)

I voted for Andy beacuse I think that he could if in Nadal gruop he will win it, and Nadal will play federer in semis in best of 3 and even out of form his huge topspin forehand on Rebound ace would get so big bounce on Federer's backhand that it could be enough and he can always play his mind games with Federer, I think that if such Nadal - Federer match will happen in best of 3 format Nadal only need to make it close and Federer will loose it himself, only way for Roger is to make it fast 2 sets without stress situation.) In Federer group he will go through to semis on second place and could make it final(things can change if nadal advances on second place)

In terms of the betting world and they often predict performance better than seeding. Roger Federer is clear favourite, Nadal/Davydenko very similar odd to be 2nd favourite, Ljubicic/Roddick very similar odd to be 4th favourite, Nalbandian 6th, Blake 7th and Robrdeo 8th:

http://www.oddschecker.com/betting/mode/o/card/tennis-atpshanghaimasters/odds/3227355x/sid/1086297

Red Group: 1/4/5/6 favourites
Gold Group: 2/3/7/8 favourites

They see Federer + Ljubicic or Roddick from the Red Group and
Nadal and Davydenko from Gold Group.
