I have to go with Safin on this one. He has had lots of rest. He loves this tournament, and Haas hasn't had very difficult competition leading up to the qtrs.

Marat is too strong for Haas

yes this was proven in the usopen of this year

Safin, but the incentive of getting to Shanghai might drive Haas to the win.

Tommy can do that. He has to stay focused. He showed that he can beat Safin at the Us Open. I will go with Haas :yeah:

:) and yes Haas was a lucky s.o.b in that game...

Besides that, Safin is playing better now

I think it's about time Safin went home to wallow in self-pity.

Really "has had a lot of rests" ????
He played on monday, tuesday and yesterday his double, so I don't think he had a lot of rest. I was at all the matches of both players, and Tommy played better than against Llodra, I was very surprised by the way he played today. Regarding Marat, as usual, many ups and downs and you don't really know what to expect with him.

I'll be there tommorrow, hopefully, there will be that match... I'm sure it's going to be a great match. I have no favourite, but two friends of mine who are comiing tomorrow, like both players (one Haas and one Safin). I just hope a great match, and good luck to both :bounce:

I think it's a mental thing who wins:rolleyes:

of course I will go with Tommy. Nobody expected he could win against James Blake, especially not in 2 sets. He can do it, and he will.

Marat, no doubt.

I, for one, hope Haas takes this match and the title. We need some more credibility at this year's TMC and Blake/Ancic just don't cut it, let alone Robredo and co. :tape:

It is a tough one; but I would say Safin, Haas won last match in USO this year, so it's Marats turn, I guess. :D

Haas beat Safin at the USO. I'd have to go with Haas, but it all depends on what Marat shows up for the match :-)

I, for one, hope Haas takes this match and the title.

i don't, for two reasons:
1. i cheer for both, marat and haas, but still i'm more marat's fan :)
2. it's better for our mario if haas doesn't win this tournament.... mario should win it ;)

i'm thinking Marat this time, not sure why. I like both, hope it's a good match. The USO one was exciting.

This is Paris-Bercy, Marat should win.Is that an epistemic or a deontic modal (or both)? It rather makes a difference.

Is that an epistemic or a deontic modal (or both)? It rather makes a difference.

:haha: It is a mix of hope (I would prefer Marat to win), assesment of the subjective probability of a Marat win (I estimate the probability of a Marat win to be around 0.55-0.60) and a tendency to expect that past success in the particular locale (Paris-Bercy) will be followed by current success (making the semis).

Luckily for Haas, the peanut gallery MTF consensus here is for Safin.

Crucial match for Marat. With this win he will clinch Top 24 AO seed, meaning, no top 8 match up till R16. I am sure that's something he really wants. He still can finish year as high as #16, if he wins the whole thing. Which he will. 14 straight wins in Bercy and counting.

They both play pretty good. Let's better player will win. The win is most important for Tommy, because he has chance for Masters Cup in this year.

Safin - Berdych would be great! But if Tommy is in the zone he can beat almost anybody.
