[Paris Masters 3R] Davydenko def Tursunov, 6-2 6-2

Battle between the #1 and #2 ranked Russians, and the two guys who have played the most tournaments this year.

I would have thought this match would have been closer but Davy just played an awesome match. He's now lost only 4 games in two matches. It seems like he's peaking at the right time for Shanghai..

As for Tursy, what a horrible end to an otherwise good season for him. Seems like he's lost his brain after winning his first title in Mumbai. At least now he can take a well-earned vacation before the Davis Cup final.

Congrats Davy!!:D

Sorry Dima...

It looks like we should be talking about DAVY winning Paris! I don't recall anyone mentioning him as a possible winner! ;)

Not really a fan of Davydenko but he's definitely in with a chance for the title, especially considering there's no Federer or Rafa.

Well, I must agree with my compatriot. Pity that Kolya didn't finish the match earlier (didn't want to bagel his mate?), he should've won it 6:0 in the 2nd
Anyway, hope that Ancic wins his match and we've got a blockbuster QF

PS I'd like to see the faces of some of you when Davydenko reaches No.3 after this tournament ;)

I can't see any match Davydenko participating in being a "blockbuster"

Nadal had no chances in Paris. That's why, he withdrew.

If Davy doesn't break his leg today, Mario can say good bye to Shanghai.

Well, Davydenko is well rested, he hasn't played that much this fall
New look too, shaved head! He's definitely getting ready for the No3 spot...

Nothing special, really;

9 out of 10 Davydenko's matches are awefully drab and boring;

I feel sorry for Tursunov 'cos he is a nice guy and rightly belongs to top 10( );Wish him all the best in 2007!;)

Let's pray for whoever plays Nikolay 2morrow will get his act together and beat Davydenko:mad:

Mario is a different kind of player than C.Rochus or Tursunov, so I think he has a good chance (if he beats Benneteau) to eliminate Davydenko :yeah:
Mario defeated Nikolay on clay this year and has 4-2 H2H against Russian. Why he couldn't repeat it on faster surface like carpet?
I still belive that Mario and James will be play in Shanghai and Robredo will be only substitute.

One more win and Kolya is ranked #3 in the world....

So Mario has to good reason to beat him (if he wins today). To make a step closer to Shanghai and to help his friend Ivan mantain the 3rd spot. But the first one is the only important right now. ;)

What's wrong with Davy? I picked him to win the tournament before it even started. Heh. He's an incredible player when he's rested, and still top 10 when he's not. Compare to Gonzales losing to some 60th ranked player. Aww, poor baby played 3 tournaments straight. That would be a slow month for Davy and he would have stilll made the QF/SF.

To Ernham:

Nothing is wrong with Nikolay.
I mean, maybe IRL he's a great person... it's just i somehow can't stand the way he plays...
anyway, if he wins the tournament => fine with me.

What does Davydenko have to do to get some respect around here?

Kolya played really great. Dima was not bad, he was average. This is as good as I have ever seen Kolya play off the red stuff. If he continues to play like this he is in with a shot, this was probably the best performance of the week so far.

It's just amazing how this guy keeps improving. :worship:

I really hope that he wins a Masters Series event sooner or later. Nobody deserves one more.

Unfortunately, he now faces the guy who stopped him in Hamburg.

Davydenko looks losing a bit of weight. He looks so cool with those strokes.
