Allez :) very solid play by Richie . 80% won on 1serve and 70% on second. Commentator said it was the best perfomance of the day .

Sadly i wasn't able to watch it.
He seemed impressive particulary on his serve.
Safin watch out:eek:

richie21 has reverted back to normal :o

Anyway, good luck to Richard tomorrow. Will probably be his last match of the season but it's good that he finally won his first match in Bercy ever. :)

Richie seems to be on a roll now .....but tomorrow ,he 'll face the king of Bercy who i guess will be very motivated after his loss last week :p

Clearly Richie just wanted to get to bed - they sent them out at 11.45pm local time :) And just over an hour later he could get himself ready to se coucher.

Congrats, Richard! He played very well, but could've been more aggressive, I think. His 1st serve % has been incredibly good as of late, so I hope he can count on his serve against Marat tomorrow, it'll be an interesting match and I for one hope and actually think it will NOT be his last match of the season. :ras: :p

Poor Stan, I didn't want them meeting so soon but interesting match nonetheless against two of my fave youngsters. :D

Just because you find it difficult to stand your ground doesn't mean others do. ;)

Good result for Richie but just when he can prove once again that he has the consistency to keep winning consecutive matches and rise to the top he meets Safin. Sigh. I like their tennis so good luck to both of them.

All,

Yeah - and talking about a protest. The tournament officials should be ashamed to make the players start play at midnight. No one can convince me that a couple of the matches that were featured on center court couldn't have been played on court 1. I mean really! I would have been too fit to be tied if I were playing. I'd have said - "Catch you tomorrow", @ around 10:00 p.m., as I was sitting there waiting to get on. LOL!

well done Richie!
shame he has 2 play Safin next round
they are my 2 only reasons for me to keep watching Paris
now that Gonzo is gone
but good luck tomorrow anyway!

I actually think Gasquet will win over Safin. Then again, it all depends on which Richard and which Marat will show up. Good Richard vs Bad Marat, Bad Gasquet vs Good Marat, Good Richard vs Good Marat  , or Bad Richard vs Bad Marat :help:.

:woohoo: Richie. Continue your form and have a great last tournament please! I think he'll beat Safin, but this time in 3 sets. Something like 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 or something. This one is going to 3 sets and I hope that not only Gasquet comes out the winner, but it's a high quality match . If it is the last match of his 2006 season then it'll be a really good season considering the fact that his start of the year was simply horrendous. Had he had some NICE looking draws at the first 3 GRand Slam events, Gasuqte could have easily been ranked inside the top 10 right now, but he has loads of time to do that when 2007 rolls along :drive:.

playing top ten tennis again. well done richie. richie has been playing top 10 tennis in glimpses this year, i'm sure he can get himself more consistent for 2007, more masters series appearances, and the inevitable grand slam semi or final await!

Congrats Richard, it is great to see him starting a tournament with a win after having won a tournament the week ago. Now Marat will be very difficult, Paris is not Lyon by any means.
