Feña, You're a truly champ for me, really, nobody expected so much success in the indoor season, you leanrt so many good things, I know you're better know and If I believed in you before now I believe even more! I'll be always be there as a fan. Reaching 3 finals in 3 tournaments is an awesome achievement.
Sad you had to lose today, I was pretty annoyed with Benneteau's behaviour, although I can understand why He was acting like that, It seemed to be too much sometimes. Tough luck Feña, It was not a nice match to watch, I'm always very respectful to my faves's opponent, but I must say Benneteau made such unbelievable silly ue [Feña did not do that much] that It's weird for me to see him as the winner of the match.

Benneteau is a laughable player but it is OK. González was playing his 4th week in a row. Final in Vienna, final in Madrid, final in Basel. It's not human to expect him to be at any kind of level right now. Overall fantastic performance in the last month from Feña.

He did not choke. I'm sorry. I just sat and watched the entire match and he didn't choke - he was exhausted and ran out of fight at the end, while Benneteau was somehow playing inspired tennis to keep digging himself out of trouble.

you get the feeling Benneteau controls things, two days in a row goes down 0-3 but then hop, decides he should stop fooling around and just get the job done. guess he posseses the power. but it was strange still, Gonzo just sliced the backhand back in court and not much else...and he certainly didnt look like wanting it more.

He was simply too tired in the 3rd (from playing 16 matches in the last 23 days). A match against an average joe like Benneteau is hardly the occasion to make anyone tense/nervous.

Did you watch the Santoro match? The commentators said in the first set that Benneteau doesn't have much talent but by the third set, after some of the shots he pulled off at the net, they took it back. :p

Well that choke against Ferrer in Wimbledon was amazing. Another GS match he shouldn't have lost was the Bogomolov one in Australia, but allegedly he was injured.

Yeah Benneteau deserves his plaudits - he played an excellent second set especially at the end and fought back superbly from 0-3 down and just looked the fresher and more imaginative throughout the third set - eventually snatching his chance. He played some great tennis to win.

I was there ( I just came back )and the atmosphere was great in spite of the late hour... people were like.... drunk :drink:They were shouting like "oh oh oh ohoo" during challenging and Gonzalez was driven insane...at the end it was almost as he was doomed to lose. Something in the air...
From time to time a frenchie makes a great, trhilling match in late hour in Bercy..I remember the same kind of match last year with Santoro...

Gonzalez didn't choke, he looked like he was lost in another galaxy and had some quick visits to planet earth, nowhere near his best not even on the first set and thought he was up 3-0 in the third besides one game alone, he did not look to me as if he was anywhere near his 100% or with any intentions to win the match or lose it, he just wasn't really there he kinda woke up in the last few games but then he would lose himself again, he was super tired you could tell by his shots and the billions of slices he used! oh yeah i forgot getting to three finals in a row isn't exhausting at all obviously he must be a choker! :rolleyes:
Julien played ok, his match against Santoro was much better than today that whole outplayed thing i don't really buy it, neither of them seemed to be playing well on the first 2 sets Julien was just a bit more consistent in the last couple of games.

Noooooo :lol: Sure, it's the main reason. As Sparko said, he didn't have the luxury to skip Paris. He was very tired and it's very courageous from him to play like he played yesterday evening, he was exhausted. I don't understand why people said that he choked because it's not true, he was just exhausted. He played 3 finals in three weeks, and I think it's human to be tired. Benetteau just took advantage of that, thanks to the audience who was supporting him. In another city, Benetteau would have lost that match.

Yesterday evening, after the match, I was so mad, and so sad for Fernando, we have been waiting for more than 10 hours to see him play, the matches were sooo long, I almost died on my seat !!

It was tough for us, for the players who had to wait (not only for the poor Richard who ended at 1 am), but all the players had to wait.

Well, that's the life of tennis. Fernando needs his rest, it's deserved, he's a true champion, a true fighter, a great man. He still have to improve and will do better in 2007 !!
