Cañas def Henman
Cañas def Ferrero
Cañas def Gasquet
Cañas def Federer
Cañas def Robredo
Cañas def Ljubicic
Cañas def Nadal

Gasquet will probably achieve top 10. If Cañas can do this run, he will be the first to win a tournament with wins over players who at some time of the career touch top 10.
Only if Gasquet reaches the top 10 at some time of his career.

Why does it matter? If a player has not reached the top 10, that means he wasn't top 10 material at the time.

Player who at some of it career tocuhed the top 10. Gasquet only reached 12 at the moment, but I am saying that if he reaaches top 10 after it will be done.

I agree with Koyla. This is pointless unless it is a current top 10 player. whats the accomplishment beating lets say Henman these days who probably couldnt beat a club level player.

Not in discussion. This is just a statistic.

One more step, Cañas defeated Ljubicic. If tomorrow beats Djokovic he will be beat 6 top 10s at some time of their career. And the seventh is Gasquet who is a potential top 10 player, so it will be probably 7 top 10s out in the same event.

And this could be a specific record but I think Djokovic wins the whole thing.
Not tomorrow, they have one day off :)

What was the last player to win 8 matches in a single tournament?
I suppose some qualifier reaching Qf at a Grand Slam.

Why don't you petition a tournament to invite Bjorn Borg and Brad Gilbert so Canas can beat them and add 2 more TOP 10 to his list?

This thread is stupid.

Hewitt at UO '01 was closer than Gaudio at FO '04 because Albert Portas = former No. 19 ;)
