Just found the schedule for the TMC in Australia. It's on ABC again, same as last year except it's now on a couple of hours delayed.

It's on at 12:30a.m every day.

yeah i saw that too...I am in Perth and we are the same time as Shanghai, so technically it should be on at a good time but noooooooooooooo they have to delay it. so we'll know the result before they start their stupid coverage at midnight :fiery: :fiery: :fiery:

then they wonder why they say "there is no demand for tennis in Aus"...maybe if they showed a bit more on free to air at a decent time, more ppl would be interested

so it is delayed. Damn, that's not good. I can't see why ABC can't have it live, they are a public broadcaster, ratings shouldn't worry them too much. Also, the final is like at 11pm instead of 7.30pm which is really annoying because i'll have to get up early on monday and watch a tape of it so i don't get spoiled the result.

But then again as a person without Fox, i'm just extremely happy to see tennis on free-to-air tv. :)

Yeah, I know. It's so annoying. When the Australian Open is on primetime, lots of people watch it and 10pm is an excellent time, and 9pm is even better which is what the time would be in Brisbane. It's such a waste of a nice time difference and that's what annoys me the most.

Also, the final is on 11:10p.m. I remember how awesome it was when the final was on 7:30p.m last year.

I'm personally going to be avoiding the scores but will be having much difficulty doing so. I will have to find something that really occupies my time well so I don't think about the matches that are already going on.

It makes me curious too, because the australian summer (mainly the oz open) rates through the roof here and usually beats the one day cricket easily and wimbledon rates highly for its timeslot as well, it makes you wonder why we don't have more.

At least it's on FTA, just means you can't go on these forums for a few hours a week.

I had the same thought as you. Surely ratings don't matter too much to them, and also I can't imagine any of their other shows rating that well. They'd probably do worse, with the odd exception.

I suggest those that are annoyed about the delayed coverage to type up some feedback to the ABC at this form:
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/contact/abctv_form.htm

I think I remember complimenting them for their coverage last year and I got a reply for that, though I don't remember how long it took. It's probably too late to change anything but they do read them.

I emailed them as well complimenting on their coverage last year, it usually take a couple of weeks to reply, which is fairly good considering they give the time to reply back.

I'll probably do that again after this tournament but just comment on why was the coverage delayed.

Really, when tennis on free-to-air tv is on, i don't care about the time, i'll watch it, just means i'll have to tape the matches and get up early at 5am to watch them before school.

It is pretty simple. The 6 am eastern match in the Us will be LIVE ON ESPN2. That is the 7pm match in Shanghai. Then the other match will be on tape delay later in the afternoon.

i guess it's better than nothing but i just think it's futile to show it at that time well after the results are known. oh well..in a few weeks we will finally have more tennis on our tvs so i will be content with the ABC's crap for the moment.

Both showing it on delay.

Foxtel showing it midnight DST on day 1, so that's slightly earlier than ABC, but on other days ABC are showing it earlier than Fox Sports where it will be on around 7am the following day, though there may be slight changes day by day.

Yeah, i was disappointed about that, without Fox i really enjoyed those highlights last year.

You can't realy blame the ABC, they don't have much money to play around and maybe showing this delayed this year was cost cutting. It's annoying but it just means we can't go on here for a few hours a day this week.

The Nadal/Agassi match wasn't ESPN2's fault, NBC had the rights to that match and they wanted to air it when they did. As for the Federer/Nalbandian match they showed what they could fit into their time slot. As for the Blake match being aired tomorrow morning it's what is scheduled to be the 1st singles match. They are airing it live.

As for the Federer/Nalbandian match they showed what they could fit into their time slot. As for the Blake match being aired tomorrow morning it's what is scheduled to be the 1st singles match. They are airing it live.

They didn't show the Robredo/Davydenko match, nor did they show the Ljubicic/Nalbandian match, having crap like "mike and mike" as more important. That's my point, they don't create time slots for the matches and why I find their coverage annoying and why I wish we had a real provider. But like I said, it's better than nothing I suppose.

I'm watching Davy/Blake now, and the announcers said they were going to show Nadal/Robredo during the 3pm EST ESPN broadcast.

Why did they change the camera angle to a "closer" one starting today? I dont like it.

The cameras change angles generally, not only on ESPN2. Unfortunately

ATP site has the Feder / Nadal match scheduled for 7pm local time or 6am EST in the US. ESPN 2 has been showing 2 hours of coverage at that time, however on Saturday morning they are scheduled to show "Realtree Outdoors" and "Bassmaster University". Tennis coverage on ESPN 2 is slated for 6pm EST tomorrow evening.

Has anybody been watching in the morning? Has ESPN 2 made any announcements that they may cover the match live?

If not, what do people think the quality of the on-line coverage might be (Masters TV)? With all the people that are sure to log on for this big match, can the site handle a very high volume of traffic or is there a strong potential for black screens and continious buffering?

Also, does the Masters TV on-line work with a Mac? or with PC only?

thanks

I have the same question. Is ESPN 2 going to show it? I know they have the rights, but are scheduled to show "Bassmasters University" instead. Does anyone know if there has been a program change?

Looks like 6 EST (or 8 MST for me) for the tape delayed match times.

Still, I have to wonder why they show TMC all week from 4am - 6am (MST), but won't show the semis and finals live? I know it is "football day" and they have to yak about that for 16 hours minimum, but such an early start would not interfere with the ever-important football hype.

Even though I am not much of a football fan, I will still be watching the OSU / Michigan game. I predict a 17 point OSU win.

espn2 is so annoying! 5 dollars buys you live on-line...3 am Satruday...less than a movie, 2 semis in the comfort of your own home :)

As much as I might normally complain, I dont' really think there's any reasonable reason that there shouldn't be almost non-stop football coverage on Saturday.

Ohio State vs. Michigan tomorrow will be the biggest regular season game in the history of college football (AND I'M GOING! : p). There's no way that ESPN misses this one.

As for the Michigan- Ohio State game, they already have countdown clock for the game. Have fun at the game- should be a blast. Are you for BIg Blue or THE Ohio State?

:haha: :haha: :haha:

That's ESPN for you! They could easily show both semis live. The semis start at 6am EST and college football doesn't start until noon. :smash:

According to their schedule they are going to start the delayed coverage at 10pm EST on Saturday and 12:30pm EST on Sunday.

When I went to tape the 3pm match, Cliff announced that they would be on to start showing SF at 10 am EST on Saturday. Time difference anyone? When I watch the match later maybe there will be more info.

ESPN will show the match at 10PM EST. The Doubles will be at 10AM EST on the Tennis Channel. Thank god I can watch it live online. If you want to watch it live download tvuplayer and install that software then to watch LIVE TENNIS go to starsports. Enjoy, and go Cal

I have my DVR set to record the whole series this week and I just checked it again for the scheduled recording tomorrow and it is still 10 pm. So ESPN has it in their schedule for a nighttime showing. I don't know why they couldn't stick with the 6 am timeslot for at least the first match live. If they waited till 10 at night for the second...well you had to wait till 3 pm for a taped match all week so I guess it's not that big of a difference to show it a bit later. But, not showing the 1st match live is inexplicable.

Well, it's now 6:45 am and the doubles is still in the third set tiebreak. So I guess this is the reason that ESPN didn't want to start live at 6 am today. Just in case this run over happened. Since the tennis channel has the deal to show the doubles at 10 am, ESPN may have been stuck with not having anything to air right now except more taped stuff from earlier in the week. This delay of the singles matches happened on an earlier day also so I guess they worried about that.

Oh well, I guess I'll watch it tonight. And I could have stayed in bed for another hour this morning instead of getting up to follow it here.

I'm disgusted with the fact that in the USA ESPN will show the Masters semi final matches at 10PM Eastern time while the rest of the world can see those matches live. That is of course if the actually show both semifinal matches.

Actually it's not the coverage but ESPN 2's lack of it is what really annoys me.

It's bad enough that they'd only show one of the two live matches from round robin play every morning. Almost every day they didn't even show the 2nd match later on.

To not show the semifinal matches live is ridiculous. In the US we'll see those matches 16 hours later when the result will already be known. Thus the TV ratings will probably be low. The Super Bowl's ratings would be a lot lower if it was shown 16 hours later after it was actually played.

What are they showing instead? American Angler or some crap that is on during every weekday?

I agree totally. This is the prime time rivalry in tennis and it won't be shown live on a weekend. I could understand if the Michigan/OSU game was on or something, but...

So, send in a comment to the above link and post here that you commented so we can get an idea how many have complained. :help:

The only time I remember an ESPN schedule change for tennis was the AO final when Safin beat Hewitt - at first it was going to be only tape delay, but then they decided to do BOTH and put it on live AND at the pre-scheduled tape delay time which was sometime in the afternoon EST. Maybe they will do that since Blake is in the final? I was actually surprised they changed that AO schedule without a US player in the final, so it gives me hope for a possible live Shanghai final.

P.S. I did send an e-mail complaint to ESPN
