Paris-Bercy: The End

One more spot, and Nico will get into the direct entry.

I think Youzhny may be out but nothing official yet.

Paris Bercy
OUT: Hewitt, J.Johansson, Kiefer, Ljubicic, Roddick, Stepanek (and Moya, Verkerk, Martin from ALT)
IN: Volandri, Andreev, Ginepri, Srichapan, T.Johansson, Wawrinka
NEXT: Massu, Simon, Almagro, Benneteau, Melzer

And I hope the rumor isn't true that if he has to qualify, he won't play at all. I'll be very disappointed in him if he did that.

Davydenko and Grosjean are a little injuried too.

Why did he sign up for the qualy then if he doesn't want to play them ?

kidnicky
10-26-2006, 02:24 PM
well Alx and NicoFan, that's what Papa Massu said and the one that signed up for the quallies was Nico so we don't know nothing for sure, although I'm worried 'cause maybe it could be for the pain that he felt yesterday or I don't know  ... I'm more worried now :awww:

oh and also the other one that could drop out would be Monfils, I thought that it was almost for sure but now someone is saying that he has some hope to play in Paris so who knows :p

GonzoFan

I think Nico will get into the direct entry for sure.

Many players withdraw from Paris and are injured at this time of the year.

I think that even Federer might withdraw if he wins Basel.

New draw - Nico will play Arnaud Clement in the first round.

Nico has no luck. Normally I would take him to beat Clement all the way - but Arnaud is still in the running in Lyon - so obviously playing well - he's French so obviously he would want to do well in Paris-Bercy.

:bigcry:

TommyB.
10-28-2006, 01:37 PM
Nalbandian dropped out  , Hrbaty replaced him as a seed. And Mahut replaces Clement against Safin.

But I can't understand why Nico has to play against Clement and not against Mahut?!?!

Clement plays well in France, poor Nico! :awww:

NicoFan
10-28-2006, 02:48 PM
I don't understand why he's not playing Mahut either. Typical ATP shit - who the hell can figure out how they do things?

I hope Nico digs deep and kicks butt. He's been working so hard - I don't want him out in the first round.

NicoFan
10-28-2006, 02:58 PM
Judio explained in General Messages:

"1 Nalbandian withdrew before qaulies started

2 Hrbaty was promoted as 17th seed

3 Clement got a DIRECT entrance and took Hrbaty's place

4 The WC for Clement got awarded to Mahut who took Clement's place

5 Mahut was replaced by Gabashvilli in Qualies"

Judio is the only person on the planet who understands the rankings and draw shit.

TommyB.
10-28-2006, 03:16 PM

First Rafa, and now Roger dropping out of Paris-Bercy - amazing. Kind of a joke for a masters series event.

Of course when Nico draws Rafa or Roger - they never drop out then. And his bad luck, David N. screws him over by dropping out before the qualifiers. Second time Nalbandian has screwed him over this year.

(EFE)

Oh...poor sweetie! I hope he feels better. Lots of  and  for the pumpkin.

Here's the translation:

Massú maintained that a viral picture intensified its badly step by Paris-Bercy

The viñamarino related that was ready to be withdrawn in several occasions in the rout before Arnaud Clement due to sicknesses and headaches. "Not even I know as finished the encounter", said.

The Chilean one Nicolas Massú assured that suffers a viral process that caused him sicknesses and headaches, what, according to him, justified its fast elimination in the first round of the front Paris-Bercy Series Master al French Arnaud Clement for 6-1 and 6-4 in slightly more than an hour of play.

"I raised myself with a virus and the medical gave me a remedy. But did not have forces, at no time I was concentrated on the match and I thought several times in withdrawing me. Not even I know how I finished the encounter", he affirmed.

Massú affirmed that not even was conscious that, in the second one set, had options to equalize the encounter and that even came have a 40-0 to favor when the scoreboard was drawn to four play.

But Clement broke that service of the Chilean and finished being judged the set and the encounter, that will permit him to be faced in second round al American James Blake, seventh favorite and exempt of first round.

Despite that assured that "is not easy to remove positive things after a loss as this", Massú indicated that the balance of the season is not evil.

"One it wants always more than what did. Without wanting to be pretentious, to finish 40 is not what I expect. It is not evil, but I believe that I can give more. I have arrived at four finals, but always one must be self-critical", said.

"With what I remain is with which I have been the player that more matches won than lost", he affirmed.

For next year, Massú he was put like objective to enter among the 20 first to be able to give later the leap al top ten. (EFE)

And I hope that either he or papa Massu gives a press conference when he arrives home in Chile so that we know that he's alright and feeling better.

nico will play Copa Argentina?????

I'm not sure what they are called - he's playing in two exhibitions - if you look at the first page of the schedule thread, the names of the exhibitions (and dates) are in there. I think Copa Argentina is one of them.

And also for the record - even though I also like Fernando G, Rafa, Feli, and Fernando V - none of them are as wonderful to watch, as cute, as sweet, or as huggable as Nico.

So Nico must come back strong in 2007 cuz really - he's the only one I want to see, or in the end, really care about.

 for Nico.

I don't know Fergie - I'm wondering if he should just focus on clay. Forget about everything else. I would like to see him skip Down Under next year - just do some clay challengers rather than try to do well on hardcourts in January so he can head into DC, the LA swing, and European clay very strong. And forget about IW next year - just do Miami. Skip Wimbly too - just focus on the summer clay season. After the US Open (which he has to play even though its hardcourt for me ), play Romania and Palermo - and skip the rest.

I know - radical - and will never happen.

Nico can play well in all surfaces nicofan (except grass....i think)

he's a claycourt master, but he has good results on hard and carpet indoors, let's hope nico bounce back next season

wow!! the NicoFan that I love is back!!! ... thank God 'cause I was getting tired of beign defending Nico by my own all the time :rolls: .... and well I agree with you only in skiping Wimbledon :haha:

No1Rios is right, Nico is a good player in all surfaces, except the stupid grass, he can do it and he knows it, is just a matter of time that he believes again that he can win and he'll start winning ... I've a good feeling that the next year will be the good one, he started to come back this year, I mean we're talking that he didn't have a good end of the season but the first part of the season was really great! 4 finals, semifinals, quaterfinals, 1 title and that incredible 4 set match against Federer in RG is just a proove of all what I'm saying.

I'm sure that we'll have a much better year than this one :yeah: ... and yes No1Rios Nico is playing 2 exhibitions and one of them it's the exhibition in the Lawn tennis center in Buenos Aires, all the argentinians, Carlos Moya and Nico will be there .... of course that at least there I already have my spy for that tournament :p

And yes ... I miss Nico already!!! what the hell am I going to do without him for 2 months?!?! :bigcry:

Nico was sick? Pobrecito... he must go back home to Chile and get better!

NF, are you planning on coming to Montreal next year? Or perhaps a little trip down Santiago [Vina del Mar] or Buenos Aires or Acapulco or C do Sauipe way?? ;)

I would LOVE to see Nico and Fena and some of the Argies play in S America!

What a bad year for Nico. Good thing is next year he will defend almost no points. I think he still has the game to be a Top20 for sure...not so sure about a Top10...but who knows...

Kid - I never left.. Well, as I've said before, when I saw Nico during the summer, he was having a rough time with the hardcourts....he hates them! He was miserable - I've never seen him that unhappy. And then taking all that time off, freaked me out. I still don't understand it. But of course he's my pumpkin, so I never stopped adoring him.

When you look at other players, they specialize. Look at the Americans - I like Andy and James, but do they put out any special effort on clay? A surface which btw almost half of the tournaments are played on. No - they stay here in America. They don't even try. Look at Rafa - he plays one week, and takes three weeks off during hardcourt season. Even Fernando - took so much time off at the beginning and middle of the season, I was wondering if he was thinking about a change of careers. ;) But all of them are top ten - and none of them apologize for specializing or taking more time off than they play.

So I've changed my mind. ;) Nico should specialize too - only play clay. Screw hardcourts, and pretend that grass courts don't exist. Take time off, and just work on his clay game during his weeks off. I'm old - come from the old days where guys knew how to play all surfaces and played straight through the year. I need to enter the modern age :haha: - everyone specializes and having vacations every other week is the thing to do. Doesn't matter about the fans or how much sponsors put into a tournament - its just about themselves. So let Nico do it too - he's not getting anywhere trying to play all the surfaces.

Chileno - I watched Nico a lot this summer - he definitely has a top 20 game. And looking at some of the guys in the top 10 right now, he could probably do that too. ;)

well at least you went away a little bit .. you maybe were still adoring him but in the deep inside of your heart, where I couldn't see it  ... but glad that you're back and that I don't have to defend Nico against you :rolls:

again maybe Nico should pay attention only to clay courts but he won't do it, the only thing that I'll say to him the next time is to the hell with the grass courts!! never go there!!! and if he's having a hard time again the next year in hardcourts then to the hell too :haha: ... of course again he won't do it.

and of course he does has the tennis to be in the top 20 and even more!!! :rocker2:

Nope, no more hardcourts now...I want him happy not miserable. I never want him to go through again what he went through this year. Well he has to play hardcourts in Miami and in August - for me!!!!! His numero uno fan cuz I need to see him then or it would be too sad.

What a bad year for Nico.

i don't think so... on clay he was great!! 4 clay-finals this year!! Costa Do Sauipe, Viña del Mar, Ameerforst and Casablanca it's good enough for me! :)

but he had some crappy draws on the Clay Masters Series (Rome(Davydenko), Mc(Almagro on fire), Hamburg(Ferrer Top 10)) and RG (JesusFed) ... :o

but the others draws were not too easy either... ... always JesusFed or Nadal :fiery:!!! God didn't give us a break this year

Just saw this...sorrrrrrrrrrry.

I would love to see Nico and Fernando play in SA too - its my dream.

I'm not sure about Montreal - depends on how the lack of job opportunities for changing careers keeps going. And to be honest, I wasn't crazy about Toronto - it wasn't very fan friendly. I think I'd rather go to Cincy - which is very very very fan friendly. Boring as hell outside the tournament grounds from what I understand - but I only go for the tennis so I don't care.

And the tennis gods were crappy to him this year with the draws in the big touranments - and some of the small ones too. Hopefully they will be kinder next year.

 Well....that's it....1-6,4-6.....not much to say here....

I hope he is able to regain his fighting spirit over the break....I love Nico and it hurts to see him like this. I can certainly take a loss but I don't feel he was even really out there today. Take care Nico!!! Love ya :inlove:

I have to take that back. It sounds like it was all Nico could do to finish the match and not retire. He has not lost his fighting spirit! :worship:    for Nico-I hope he feels better soon.

It's okay Sparko, we didn't know what was happening until after the match, we all know how this medications work only if you have some rest after you take them and of course that Nico couldn't do that, in some pics you can see his nose all red (just like me lol!) ... poor Nico, I'm sure that he feels better today knowing that he's going home for some rest

At least he won a title again and reached 4 finals altogether..his clay season was really good. The TMS and GS draws were awful sometimes. I hope he has more luck with the draws next year (especially Hamburg  ).
