Basel is very important too, but most important for David is Davis Cup's final. He must be good prepared for that. Actually he is the best of all argentinian players.

Same story over and over again... I know Wawrinka will fight like hell. David (if he survives another 3-setter) will be tired in the semis. Good news, Gonzo is exhasted also, and maybe David would be able to overcome him for another vs Fed final. Bad news? We all know.

Well a disappointing loss but a good run in Paris should be enough for him to qualify for the Masters. I got home in time to see the second set and Wawrinka completely outplayed him in all areas.

I expected this. I hope he'll do well in Paris. But he's not playing as well as in the first half of the year.

David is so beatable right now, it's hard to expect something good from him in Paris. Any top 30 player can beat him at any given moment. Let's hope for the best... He'll probably qualify for Shanghai, but without serious improvement he can hardly be a factor there.

I agree with you, and it's so disappointing.

I haven't seen today's match, but from what i could read he was pretty much outplayed by Stan. Shame, I was expecting at least a semi-final.

Time to move on to Paris, i hope he has a good run there.

I watched from 5-5 in the first set using the livestream (so quality wasn't too good) and Wawrinka played really well from what I saw.

I'm a bit disappointed that David still seems to be out of form despite all the match practice and wins he's been getting lately. I'm still hopeful that he'll start to play better soon though.

On the positive side, this loss gives him a bit of time to rest up for Paris.

He HAS won Shanghai in 2005...

David can win in Shanghai second time. Roger won many tours in his career. Why should he win Masters Cup too? I like Roger very much, but I like David much more. And David has such ability, that he can win, when he plays against Roger. No many players can make it.
But David naturally must qualify for this tour. And he plays in Davis Cup. This is very important for him and his country.
Good luck David.

Ouch!! he's playing his doubles match !!
Now get your first doubles title !!!

David and S. Prieto played against Matkowski/Fyrstenberg. Polish doubles had to win, to have chance for Masters Cup in Shanghai in this year. They are very good in double. David played against them, to improve his ability in doubles. This is very important to him because of Davis Cup. I think, that he did not want to achieve his first title in doubles.
