Good win. Ginepri seemed to hold serve a lot easier than Roger. Match point was enjoyable.

federer was lucky to squeak that one by. his shots were errant and thats a losing strategy against a retriever like ginepri. fortunately for fed, when things got tough at 3-3 in 1st set and tiebreak of 2nd set, ginepri mentally collapsed and went for too much going out of his retriever mode.

Yes, a tough match for Rogelio! Glad he won, of course...
Robby did well!

Fed looks far from his best though

he definitely aint gonna have an easy time against NAlby

Roger needs to work on that return game, only one break against Ginepri, come on.Roger served well, so it was a mood point.

Nalbandian played a shitty match and a long one.I like Fed's chances if he brings that killer mentality.

That was my impression too... Fed came across a bit nervous, sloppy...
He'll have a hard job against Nalby, and if Rafa plays him like he played yesterday, I wouldn't know if Fed can beat him!

(now, that's something I wouldn't have thought one week ago...)

yeah, and Nalby played just great today... Dave just took advantage of Marat's errors - Roger hardly does them in difficult situations

Nadal has a date with Berdych, so he hasnt advanced just yet.;)

Funny match point, Ginepri played pretty well except for a couple of crucial moments (3-4 and the beginning of the tiebreak). Federer's serving well, but doesn't seem to have found the rhythm on the return and is mistiming some ground strokes - though his net play is pretty good. The match with Nalbandian, who seems to enjoy competition with Federer, is going to be a tough one, though.

.... because Rafael Nadal has already advanced to the SF round, easily dismantling Tomas Berdych an hour before the the scheduling of the match.

Nalbanian is a strange player

he could have played shitty today but tomorrow might play the match of his life

and Roger isn't known for playing shitty matches only to follow them up by playing a beautifully constructed match? In that case, could you explain to me what occured the last time he met Nalbandian playing below his usual par of tennis

Allow me to refresh your memory.

Rome. 2006. Tough 3 set win, Roger playing like garbage ...

... comes back the next day and blows 2 match points in a 5th set against the 2nd coming of Bjorn Borg, the newest clay court prodigy and like most prodigies, there's plenty of baggage by his side.

A suggestion, try applying your double-standard to the both players and it'd no longer be a double-standard, it'd actually be a valid point. Both players are capable of turning each of their respective games around, depending on the opposition.

Ehm, didn't I state *IF* etc. in my post?
Of course we stil have to see whether Rafa manages.

What is up with Ginepri's stupid beard? Why does he let the top grow naturally but shave the bottom into a straight line? To lull his opponents into a false sense of security? Sorry if this was posted before...

Well, if the Nalbandian from the first set of the Roland Garros SF shows up, it will be tough indeed! :)

I like Fat Dave a lot, and to me he is the only one you is able to acutally really outplay the great Roger from time to time (For example, in my opinion Nadal wears him down and Safin overpowers him- from time to time ;) ) - he is such a great player, too bad his mindset isn't "the best" on the tour...

That was because he needed a tough match against Nalby before meeting Nadal and he didn't get it. ;)

Nice win Fed. :yeah: His performance today is no indication of what will happen tomorrow. He's not going to play beautiful tennis every day, but he still finds a way to win which is what champions do.

Federer should be happy Nalbandian won his match with Safin, as the latter would have given him much more trouble.

I know, I know, I know... and witnessed it with rising anger at Rafa's very immature and gross behaviour, during AND after the match.
I'm a fan, but I'm not into blind admiration, let that be clear.
Still, I had hoped for Rogi to do the job - to finally end all that rivalry-hyping for once and for all.

VAMOS, Rogelio!
