Why JC lost again?

I am totally confused about JC. Why he always lost at such an important moment? In fact he is able to deal them in a perfect way but he always lost:( I don't doubt his skills but I thought his psychology..... maybe really awful!

Any other reasons?

Well... i saw the final online and i think he lost this one just cuz he was pretty fatigued in the third set from playing all those other 3 setters in this tourney... i dunno bout the other times

Yeah... he does seem to falter at the last hurdle, especially in the little tournaments.

well also, his first RG final, he was nervous the first two sets, it was pretty obvious... and smaller tourneys i dunno what happens... he gets really close to winning a match but then all of a sudden he does just seem to falter and never gets back into it.

I realize that he USED to choke, but i didn't realize he still does... (ever since last year's FO anyway) can anyone name some examples? (Plus I don't think losing to lleyton hewitt in the final of a very tough tournament in a 3rd set is anything to be ashamed of...)

It’s the 11st time he lost in final :(I wonder if it go down his self-confience in the future.
I have asked him a question last month:“Why you always lost important match’s final, like US open TMC2002…… Is that reason give rise to the mental factor? ”
He said:“Maybe yes,and there are also other aspects to improve”
I found ,to my surprise,at least his tiebreak is much better than before.

I think he's improved a lot mentally. He's just too
tired after 3 consecutive long matches plus Hewitt
was just too tough for him. Please don't blame him
for his loss.

He played so well in that final he was just worn out at the end that's all.

Yeh I agree... I saw the final and his previous two matches and they were all very tough physically... he managed to win in the third set tie twice in a row and he played some kick-ass tennis all week long... no wonder he was out of fuel in the end.... he played REALLY good and he got into the final, that's the next-to-best result, I don't think we need to worry...

i think his physical fitness is declining somehow...he did not have much rest from last yr....he can win matches but as they go longer...it takes a toll on him.

TMS Indian Wells...

Yeah... he does seem to falter at the last hurdle, especially in the little tournaments.

...AND in the BIG tournaments: TMCShanghai02, RG02, USO03...

Juanqui really needs to prioritize his schedule AND work on his fitness [which has greatly improved in 2003] AND his endurance... why bother reaching a final if you lose? esp to Hewitt... he needed to beat Hewitt and get his revenge over him for losing to him in the DC03F, as well as winning his first title of 2004 AND he needed to put more distance betw himself and Pandy...

Juanqui's almost always less than 100% or tired or both... pobrecito...

Now he really has to concentrate on winning an outdoor hardcourt title in N Amer... prove to those naysayers who ignore him that he is as good or better than top guys like Pandy and Lleyton... [after all, Juanqui IS more talented than both of them -- Pandy has the biggest serve out there and Lleyt has more grit and tenacity than most]

So... VAMOS, JUANQUI in Indian Wells and Miami!! ;)

Hey, most of the big names lost in Marseille by now. Turned out that him losing the first round is great, he gets almost 2 full weeks to rest.

Relax people. Not time to panic yet, no? He only won 50% of his finals and he's #2 in the world. I'll say that he's not perfect but he's not THAT bad. He's improving his serve, his physical, his volley and his mental gradually. But we expect he can perfect everything in one big giant step. As long as he knows what he's lack and he tries to improve them, that is fine. It's easy for us to say this and that and he should improve everything NOW. But it's not easy when he is already in such high level. IMO, he works very hard already and if he can't improve as quickly as we hope, we should support him anyway.

Well, we can't expect him to win every single match so I guess it's good that he actually has time to rest. I hope he won't tire himself out. He was really fatigued at the end of last year!

Jazzy

very true there Lynne, i just hope he can get advantage of this rest time!!

I started this thread 5 days ago and went to school, when I backed home today I saw so many words from you all. But also in school got the worst news that he lost again in Marseilles. Its 22222222 bad. I did not watch the match that day but... really pity:( What's his next tournament?
