7-6, 6-4 Ljubicic, but with breaks on both sides. A pity they have to meet so early in the tournament.

Players have problems to adjust to Madrid's altitude because balls fly more and faster in the air and they have more problems to control their shots and not to miss them as for example Henman was worried before his match against Verdasco because he felt he hadn't the absolute control of his forehand shot so Ivan could have some adjustment complications in his first match

Ljubo seems to be in a great form but I have the feeling Murray's chances are bigger than a lot of people think . Murray is an excellent returner , is much more talented and will be better player than the croat in the future , and if Andy plays a very good match returning , serving vell and making very few mistakes I would say he would be the fave for me .

I didn't rule out Andy's win tomorrow at all though the croat has the best chances a priori.

the Ljubotards are absolutely hilarious. They all advertise in their sigs that they either hate Rafa, have some of his fans on their ignore list, or both. In addition to that, they cant take a joke and bad rep people when they say "Ljubishit is going down"

ljbubicic should be the favourite and to win if plays his best but he could be

tired of vienna tournament. and he can have some problems in adapting to madrid condition as is his first match and murray already played a match and has a good game- specially his return- to troube ljbiicc so andy could take advantage and give the surpise.

all I hope is Andy will make sure he's concentrated on the game. the last time against a top 10 player that he was not, he got bageled. just hope he returns well so that he makes Ljubo rally or do hard volleys.

I hope Andy breaks Ljubo once each set and wins in 2 - just for some big mouthed croats here, but atleast I'm sane enough to admit that I dont expect it.

Murray will reduce tennisfancroatia to tears with a routine straight sets victory.

NYCtennisfan

If Murray actually serves a decent % he's got a chance, but I see him having a sub-50% serving day, Ivan gets a few breaks, and holds enough times to win the match.

I can see Murray getting himself into a winning position and then self-destructing. Ljubicic will be more patient in the long rallies and will have the mental edge.

1) u can't say ljubo will be tired because he said after his win in vienna that he is more rested than last year, and, last year, he won metz and vienna and then made the madrid finals. also, he had a tougher time winning the title in vienna last year.

2) u can't say adjusting to the fast conditions in madrid is going to be a problem because the conditions there are ideal for ivan and are another reason he is a big favorite

No. Fed knows exactly how to beat Ljubo, even when Ljubo's serve is on; Fed just waits for the tie-breaks and wins those
