Link is here (http://www.atptennis.com/en/common/TrackIt.asp?file=http://www.atptennis.com/5/en/media/ATW/2006/ATPTennisWeekly35.1.pdf).

"Reigning Tennis Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian will blog from the Mutua Madrilena Masters Madrid this week. The Argentine currently sits at No. 8 position in the INDESIT ATP Race standings."

Should be a good read as Nalbandian seems to be an interesting guy.

First entry (http://www.atptennis.com/1/en/blog/current_nalbandian.asp) is finally up.

The blog will be a success if it has 2 entries.

Either Nalbo changed his mind, ATP changed their mind, or he simply decided to not do the first entry, or it can be that it just takes him longer to type up a sentence since he can't find someone to type it up for him and I don't see Nalbo being the tech. savvy type, who knows...

:wavey:
Ljubicic mate:cool: ~~ that`s just the point:eek: ...tennis players lives aren`t that interesting on a day-to-day basis:p !! Also I think it`s good that they show us the truth>> basically to be a professional sportsman is a job & they have to work hard at it! What do you want to read~~ that Federer & Nadal are having sex orgies with Safin & Hewitt:devil: !!

Seriously the most glamorous part of a tennis players life is winning tournaments & maybe meeting up with the groupie girls afterwards:angel: ... Unless your Federer then you`re not experiencing the glamorous side of winning tournaments that often... ok ok Nadal`s doing alright too. Most players are lucky to win 5-6 tournaments in a career & those are the highpoints. If you`re Philippoussis you can waste your talent & just focus on the groupies:sad:

The most interesting blog I`ve read so far was Roger`s from Tokyo~ simply because he does get a few more opportunites that the other players don`t & he`s a fairly straight talking frank man:cool: .. Of course Safin`s blog was quite funny~~ though not as funny as I imagined>> maybe he was trying too hard to live up to his image of being charismatic;)

From the way it is written in Spanish it looks as if they have translated from English, I mean, the "gracias por leerme" doesn't sound to good.
I'm going to defend poor David. His blog is as boring as others and you all make fun of him because he's a bit chubby and lazy.

Well he won today so that should inspire him to write. :)

Today's entry:

Firstly, sorry for not posting a blog on Wednesday – in the morning I went to do some shopping with Carlos Costa and later on I lost my doubles with my compatriot Sebastian Prieto against Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett.

I came to the club in the afternoon today, as my match was the fourth on court. I did my usual things such as eat breakfast, warm up and then a snack before the match. But I ended up rushing because the Joachim Johansson match against Fernando Gonzalez got cancelled.

Johansson pulled out with pharyngitis, so I was caught off guard. I found this out when I was warming up for the match. I hadn't eaten at that time, therefore I had to rush to eat something quickly and then take to the court.

This didn’t seem to affect me because I still won the first set in my match against Tim Henman. Once again I was down a break in the third set (5-4) and was able to pull out and advance. In my first round match, I was down 5-2 in the third set to Julien Benneteau and was also able to pull that match back too.

Right now I am hoping to get back to the hotel and have a massage and get something to eat. It is a shame that we are in Madrid and it has been raining for the past three days.

The hotel we are staying is a bit crazy. The rooms on my floor are all white, while I don't really have a problem with that I have been told that some rooms are all black and this could be a problem in waking up.

Thanks for reading.

David

Seems to be a running theme...

Even though this thread has had it's moments, I think overall the reaction has been a bit OTT. So Nalbandian doesn't write (or dictate :) ) a particularly interesting blog, and can't really be bothered to do so.

Does it really matter? The ATP now know not to ask him again.

I don't see it as him caring little for the fans because I don't particularly judge players attitudes towards fans on what is or is not written in the ATP blogs. (I should clarify that by saying I don't really care at all what players attitude to fans are anyway, good or bad)

I don't mind the quality of the blog, just the quantity. It's something the ATP Tour is doing to try to promote the sport, generate interest in fans, etc. Based on the blogs I've read, it's not like tennis players live ridiculously busy lives with barely enough time to fit everything into the day. So it just kind of reflects badly upon him that he doesn't care enough to do it.

Look at it this way. Nalbo, being who he is, probably feels that he was already showing his friendliness towards his fans by writing these 2 blog entries. This guy probably has absolutely NOTHING to say to the public because he is just not the rambling type of guy. What's more, I bet he has never and will never write a blog in his life, so what?

Why does not wanting to write to us EVERYDAY reflect bad on him, if he has already gone out of his way, however pathetic the attempt was, to write in the first place?

I'm perhaps more disappointed than a lot of people here about Nalby's least accomplished blog in ATP blogging history, but I didn't like Nalby for his literary skills nor his commitment towards making his fans happy, so there.

Federer and Tursunov speak English very well and wrote it themselves. David didn't and the very first entry someone fucked it up with the translation saying Dave had spoken to his father. His father died 2 years ago. Perhaps Nalbandian was pissed off and realized this wasn't the best idea. Hell, even the Spanish version seemed to be the translation of the translation of what David dictated with words we never really use and generally laugh  whenever we hear them.

I don't disagree with your general sentiment, but if it's ATP blogs that are drawing fans to tennis and not the actual tennis itself then I'm not too interested whether those people follow the sport or not (although I can understand why ATP want them).

And I don't disagree that he probably had time to write/dictate more than 2 entries. As I said previously, I think all the banter and joking aside, we don't really know what may have happened. It's possible David was not too happy about the reference to his father, and likewise it's possible that David just could not be bothered and did not want to really do it in the first place.

We'll agree to disagree, but for me it doesn't change what my opinion of him was, good or bad. I don't see how reading or not as the case may be a blog should change too much the perception of a player as a person, a few of them may make you laugh and be very informative, others may be very bland and generic. Ultimately though, I don't think these guys are thinking that they are going to judged so harshly based on what their blog is like.

Nalbandian doesn't sound remotely interesting just going by his blog, but those who have followed his career a little more closely will be aware he surely has alot of stuff he could talk about (like his love for rally cars etc, which I don't care about myself).

We know that when it comes to throwing out some insults, singing and having to break to stay in matches - El Rey is first class, and that is what matters most.

You konw who's blog I'd like to see? Coria's. Now THERE'S an interesting guy.

I think he would try very hard to be politically correct (as he does in his interviews), so it wouldn't be very interesting.

Boy, talk about killing off an idea. The ATP must still be reeling -- not only is no one blogging this week, but they don't even have him listed as a past blogger. His blog's still there, but they removed all the links to get to it.

He should have just posted a lot of goofy pictures of himself to show how he spends his time. Not everyone is meant to be a writer.

6. David, did you make it that traumatic? Apparently. After David Nalbandian’s Madrid blog for the ATP abruptly ended after two cursory entries, there hasn’t been another player blog on the website since.
