FEDERER PIDIÓ ALOJARSE EN UNA PLANTA DIFERENTE A LA DE NADAL

14.10.2006

Actually it sounds from that line alone that the reason for the change was his 'surroundings' (as translated also), and the rest of the article is what makes it sound as if it is because of Nadal. I don't speak Spanish so correct me but Rafa as 'surroundings'? In Madrid Nadal will attract a lot of attention from both the media and fans. Therefore, expect floor to be busy and maybe noisy making sleeping more difficult.

The new doesn't say Roger's camp asked them to stay in a different floor because of Nadal's presence in the same floor , even though you have the feeling that the journalist's intention was to imply that Roger's camp asked it after finding out about Rafa's presence.

Some of the journalist are just looking for stories and spicing up little things because the reality is perhaps too boring for them, I think.

And even if it were true, I don't find it such a weird request to be moved to another floor. 1) I wouldn't want to have to bump into my opponents at the hotel. I'd probably do that enough at tournaments 2) I imagine that Rafael Nadal is there with quite a big entourage (are his family going to be there?) so it's probably more relaxing for Roger to stay on another floor.

Yep. Relations between them aren't bad at all, they've said so numerous times - and didn't Rafa want to play doubles with Fed in Madrid???
Yeah, an obvious thing to ask if you hate someone...

It's all Media Shite. Too bad so many people seem to believe everything the media puts out. Hope the lads keep their cool and just play their game :music: , regardless of all the press rubbish.

Maybe all the hate is on Roger's side because he did turn down Rafa's request, didn't he? :)

He indeed turn down the invitation, but in a gracious manner with good reasons. No hate there at all.

Id like to see federers reaction to that. Was he misquoted? Maybe the spanish press wanted to spice it up but i doubt. Its disappointing to know that oger said something like that:confused:  :(
I mean that it could be possible. For some reason i trust that article.
...and after a lot of other people's posts...
I doubt federer said that because of their "social environment"... Its just that, i cant believe the media would go that far with such a comment. This isnt slightly twisted, its a complete different story unless rogi really went bonkers!

None of the pictures I've seen of that place look relaxing. I'd be afraid to touch anything, and it's all stark and minimalist. I don't like it. Not that it matters since I'm too poor to ever be able to afford one night in a place like that. :p

Couldn't agree more :) Don't think they'd take bicycles in the car park either.
Also too many sharp edges to bang shins against in the night. You wouldn't dare to leave smelly tennis shoes about......How many of you also checked out the Attic - what a misnomer! My attic is full of rubbish

FEDERER ASKED TO ACCOMMODATE IN A DIFFERENT FLOOR THAN NADAL

Roger Federer is in Madrid already. He arrived yesterday in a private jet which landed in Torrejón de Ardoz airport at 4:30 pm. From there he went to Silken Puerta de America Hotel, a new hotel form recently construction which the characteristic that every floor is designed by a prestige architect or designer such as Norman Foster, Javier Mariscal or Arata Isozaki. Rafa Nadal will be in 12th floor in this hotel, a floor designed by Jean Nouvel. He will have a 60 square meter suite which has the special feature of having mobile walls and every guest could locate them as will. Roger Federer’s room, who is with his gf Mirka Vavrinec, was in the same floor than the Spanish, but from his social environment asked to a floor change. Then he went on to Madrid Arena to test the Central Court and he was practising Mirka. He closed the day having dinner in De Maria restaurant. Today, as Rafa Nadal, he will assist to the Getafe- Real Madrid football match.

Roger ur over doing it now:rolleyes: We alwas said r the mature one:rolleyes:

This article was translated wasn't it?
This was NOT originally in english.

"was in the same floor"

Actually it sounds from that line alone that the reason for the change was his 'surroundings' (as translated also), and the rest of the article is what makes it sound as if it is because of Nadal. I don't speak Spanish so correct me but Rafa as 'surroundings'? Gives me an image of Nadal-wallpaper or something.:D
Entorno, the way used in the article is akin to "entourage."

i wouldnt wanna stay on the same floor as that noisy little bastard either..
Vamos'ing in his sleep or when he's beating uncle toni at Fifa on the PS2 no doubt.

With Roger's luck he'll get the suite directly beneath and have to put up with somebody jumping up and down all night. Although somehow I expect he demanded a suite on a higher floor.

Actually Roger needed a different architechtural concept. If he injures himself walking into beds in his sleep, imagine the carnage in a suite where the walls move around!

I like the English version better, which indicates Roger impersonated Rafa to get a ticket to the match. He would have done better to suck up to THE BYE, who always has seats in the directors' box at Real and Barca games.

Real lost 1-0, which I take as a sign that Rafa will lose his first match to malisse.

I agree with most of you - I like modern but that hotel is too much. I don't think I would want to stay there at all - on any floor! It's too 'space-ship' like... No greenery in the rooms...it just looks like rooms from Star Trek or something like that. Very impersonal. To each his own I guess...:wavey:

You are right, the bed seems big but somehow the enclosed busy walls and ceiling makes the whole place smaller than what it is. The view is breathtaking. If you see the hotel room where Federer was staying during the Australian open, people would understand why he did not like the 12th floor. Even the hotel in New York by his description sounded a small hotel but chic.

I agree. I only saw one floor that I liked. I think that was the 12th with the wonderful view, but then I saw the walls.........too much noise....not even the view would keep me in that room. The rooms, themselves, at this hotel would give me a headache.
