Safin's will probably last 1 entry.

I want funny, funny Marat, but I think we'll be getting sad, sad Marat.

Bjorkman is a funny guy. His will be good, I think.

I'm not sure that this is a good idea. No disrespect to Bjorkman (who's one of my favorite players), but unless his blog appraoches Tursunov-level funny, I'm afraid his blog will be overshadowed by Safin's (who has the bigger fanbase).

I want to focus on just one player doing the blog during the week. Or maybe that's just me?

It is an ATP conspiracy, they delayed Marat blogging until after the announcement of the Nobel price on literature so as to keep Marat in tennis. The sudden, rapid change in emotions will qualify Marat as one of the Russian greats, he will get instant recognition as a result.

I predict that Marat's blog will be just like his career: hyped from here to high heaven, because we know he can be as funny and quotable as Dima, just as he can be as talented as Federer, and it will have a couple spectacular moments (five entries apart) that show us what could have been, and it will almost live up the hype, but overall it will be very depressing and :banghead: as his brain cracks under the pressure.

If he has five entries, though, I may be so excited about the great week he's having that I won't care what he writes. :tape:

:wavey: Dima, if you're reading this. Tell Marat he should know by now that we love him no matter what and we're interested in whatever he has to say, but blogs are not really a big deal around here ( only a small white lie), so there's no pressure.

rmb6687
10-09-2006, 06:20 AM
True...but the Atp is party responsible for that...I mean, he gets his own headline that offers no other information besides the fact that Marat is blogging.

Well, Safin and Youzhny just lost their 1st round doubles match to Kunitsyn and Tursunov, 3-6, 4-6. So we might see a grumpy/surly first entry from Safin. But then again, he didn't seem to take this match that seriously, so who knows?

Marat has a great sense of humor, it flows out very naturally  he makes jokes non-stop and I am sure it's no problem for him to write ... :worship:
Besides, it's sort of strange to say someone is overhyped when you talk about sympathy or love  When it comes to tennis, no one here expects (ok, no one is sure in ... ;) ) Marat's victory. But when it comes to interest, people just show it!

I'm VERY excited about Marat's blog. And not just because I think he's going to entertain Dima style (though I daresay he's capable of doing so). I'm excited because Marat Safin is one of the most interesting people in tennis (at least to me, anyway) and I look forward to the chance of getting inside his head a little bit. I don't care if he's grumpy Marat. It'll still be interesting to me. Then again, with Marat I'm ridiculously easy to please. ;)

Well well it was pretty decent as Ulla says for a first blog entry. I had a few laughs (but that's probably because it's Marat  ) and a few impatient moments (mostly in the beginning) just wanting to move along with the reading of it. Hopefully, he'll get the hang of it in the next entries...if there will be more that is.

But nevertheless, as a fan, I like it. Towards the end, you could already see his personality coming out. I could almost hear him at times so that was enough for me as I didn't expect him to suddenly turn into Tolstoy in the sense that the literary great has been associated with Dmitry.

Anyway, my fave line: "I am pretty sure I know where they finished their evening but I will keep that secret and take it with me to the grave."

:haha: That is sooooo Marat.

I thought it was pretty good actually. I don't think he was "trying" to be funny. He's just being Marat....that's what I like about him. "I broke 2 racquets in 45 minutes. Short day at the office." I can just see him thinking that very thing. I've a feeling that once he's actually played a match, we'll get that infamous commentary that we're all so fond of. WTG Marat!

Agreed. I think after Dmitry's blog everyone is expecting everyone to try to be funny like him. That would be a disaster. I thought Marat's first entry was great. Very much 'him,' which is plenty good enough for me.

I'd do his laundry for him.

I agree. For people who can write with a funny style like Tursunov this is okay. But for the most part I would prefer to see a blog that is just natural: entertaining, funny if it's not forced, and showing the personality of the author.

Because who wants to read a blog of someone trying too hard to be funny??

Are you asking the difference between a bath house and a Russian bath house

A bath house is a place where you sit around naked, get massaged, go to the sauna all in one! A Russian bath house is a bath house in Russia! :p Or on Greenwch Village as this link will direct you :o

The match went pretty well, in the first set Mahut broke himself and I won 6-3. In the second set I saw three girls holding up a sign “Marat Blog Us” so I put them in the blog! Thanks for reading me and I hope you are not the only ones. In the middle of the second set I prayed “Mahut please break yourself again” and he must have listened to me. He did it again. Not that I agree with you (because from my perspective, they're about the same - Jonas had the better 1st entry, Marat had the better 2nd entry), but this is exactly the reason why I don't think it's a good idea to have two player blogs in the same week. They will inevitably get compared, and since Safin is more popular than Bjorkman, no matter how good Jonas' blog is, his blog will be over-shadowed.

Even the ATP website has Safin's blog as one of the main headlines, while Bjorkman's blog is relegated to the second-string headlines.:(

I hope the ATP makes it a point to have only one player blog per week.

I hope the ATP makes it a point to have only one player blog per week.

you are absolutly right in your point.

For some reasons, after a certain age our lovable parents enjoy doing things for their kids, like laundry, looking after your flat when you are not around. They are just happy to do anything, anytime for their kids. But when you are young, you have to do all these things, laundry, doing the dishes, cleaning the apartment and all the c—p you hate doing, when the only thing you want to do is go out, hang out with your friends and do whatever is on your mind. Every age has its good parts and bad parts, it is important that you enjoy both of them.

So true... BUT coming from Marat, I'm not sure HOW seriously we should take it!!!

Good night everybody, I wish you all sweet dreams and no nightmares. If you’re not alone I wish that the person next to you loves you very much and hopefully for you, you feel the same for the other person, otherwise you will have a tough time falling asleep.

:rolls: for some reason this last line made me laugh so much. Pretty random Id say.

This entry was kinda short but it was nice anyway, I guess he didnt do a whole lot. One thing ive noticed is that Marat seems to like listening in on the conversations of the people who sit next to him in restaraunts.

Marat is obsessed with housework. He mentions it in nearly every post. You'd think he'd be able to hire a maid????????

They parted their way about a year ago? Not sure about the actual time but no longer together. Last time I heard he was with a 36 yr. old actress from Russia, but I don't think that's a serious relationship or anything.

Just started reading Marat's blog...What did he mean by this?

Since I am not an internet type of guy and if I wrote it myself it would take me a few days to finish one page, the person who will write it for me is Nicola Arzani of the ATP.

He meant that he wasn't the one typing the blog right?

And how much sexier can he still possibly get?!!?!?! This is just too much for my heart to take!

Sweet final today!:worship:

I go to my lonely apartment and try to fall asleep a bit earlier.

I wish everybody goodnight, some places a good morning and some places, a good day.

One more day above the ground is a good day. So please all of you do me a favor and enjoy it as much as you can and be good to the people around you, no matter who they are because love and beauty will save the world.

Always yours, Marat
