~*~David Get Your Groove Back - Good Luck in Vienna ~*~

David is seeded second and his first round opponent will be Juan Ignacio Chela! That draw could have been easier

Good luck David - hope you can go far in this tournament :bounce: !!!!

And... no Sacher Cake until after the final ;)

(1) Ivan Ljubicic (CRO) - Agustin Calleri (ARG)
Alessio di Mauro (ITA) - Florian Mayer (GER)
Qualifier - Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI)
Qualifier - (8) Novak Djokovic (SCG)

(4) Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) - Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo (ESP)
(WC) Stefan Koubek (AUT) - Denis Gremelmayr (GER)
Dominik Hrbaty - Qualifier
(WC) Martin Fischer (AUT) - (6) Tommy Haas (GER)

(7) Juan-Carlos Ferrero (ESP) - Jürgen Melzer (AUT)
Xavier Malisse (BEL) - Sebastien Grosjean (FRA)
Richard Gasquet (FRA) - Qualifier
Jose Acasuso (ARG) - (3) Andy Roddick (USA)

(5) Fernando Gonzalez (CHI) - Gilles Simon (FRA)
Carlos Moya (ESP) - Nicolas Almagro (ESP)
(WC) Rainer Eitzinger (AUT) - Oliver Marach (AUT)
Juan Ignacio Chela (ARG) - (2) David Nalbandian (ARG)

Here's the draw, by the way. I don't think it looks too bad. It gives him a bit of time to settle into the tournament and pick up some form I think.

David should be able to make the QFs. Gonzalez will be tough if he makes it, but David has a good H2H against him.

Baghdatis has a pretty good draw also, and may end up being ahead by the end of the week if he does better.

I agree with krystel, the draw isn't too bad. I think he still has a losing H2H record with Chela, so that will be a good test for him.

the draw is 50-50. David should have no problem in the first 2 rounds given the indoor prowess of his opponents (then again, its David, so who really knows :tape: ) then Gonzo :scared: and Roddick/Gasquet :scared: and i wont look farther than that.

10-07-2006, 06:34 PM
Yay! David's playing doubles as well!

Not as I expected with Calleri (who teams up with Gonzo next week) but with Prieto.

In the first round they play Gasquet/Grosjean. I can hardly wait!

Need to go packing now :D :bolt:

Good luck, and hope he gets points!

for all i care, he can play like crap as long as he wins . i am seriously worried that he might not make it shanghai to defend his title. the draw isn't the best but lets hope that he does better than baggy so he doesn't lose his 8th place in the race.

10-09-2006, 01:09 PM
it seems to be a hard draw, both singles and doubles. But well hope he can make it

Congrats to David on his win today :) I wish he wasn't playing Gonzo next as I like both players so it makes the Match hard on me

Solid start for David, but Gonzo's going to be a real good test. David has a nice record against him, but Gonzo has improved mentally. Should be a beautiful one to watch.

10-14-2006, 12:40 AM
David  He played an amazing first set but then he let Gonzalez focus again and he started to hit more UE than winners. :bigcry: It was a great chance to gain points and reach SF but now it's better to start think about Madrid...
