Howdy cobber mates:wavey: ...

Rumours are that the Super-9/TMS/AMS tournaments are going to merge into only 5;) starting from 2009... Do you really think this will happen:confused:

Assuming that the TMC is moved to Europe & that the existing 9 AMS events become only 5 AMS events then which lucky cities do you think will get to keep these lucrative events or which cities will be promoted..???

1. Miami (looks a lock to stay there:cool: )
2. Rome (can`t be demoted because of it`s history);)
3. Madrid (looks certain to become a mixed event:angel:  )
4. Shanghai (as a consolation for losing the TMC it will probably be given an AMS):p
5................ONE MORE:eek: ........Brisbane, Monte Carlo, Queens, Toronto/Montreal, Buenos Aires, Paris........which city will get lucky/unlucky:)  :( ??

Back in July the CEO of the WTA Tour came to Cincy during the women's event - Cincinnati has applied to become a SUPER combined event in 2009. The tournament director has already promised more seating and more locker rooms. It was reported Mr. Scott was impressed with the crowd and it's all good. :yeah:

I fear that one of the USA Masters will go and it won't be Miami. :(

Mate ~ if they`re going to cut back the AMS touneys from 9-to-5 then I highly doubt Cincinnati will remain as one of the elite five;)

At best North America will retain 2-AMS tourneys:cool: ~i suspect they`ll be Miami & Toronto/Montreal:p

Cincy has had a tournament since 1899 - oldest one in the US still played in its original city.

And I'm sure the tournaments that used to be Masters events that don't become SUPER combined ones will probably become ISG ones - I suspect that will be happening to Indian Wells and Canada. ;)

Okie dokies maybe you`re right;) ~~we`ll just have to wait and see what the ATP does with the schedule overhauling, should be interesting though I`m sure some people are going to be disappointed:sad: .In the end it sounds like it`s going to be good for tennis:D

it will never happen. None of the current TMS events will be demoted as long as they continue to come up with 3 million $$ sponsorship money every year.

I think basically what would happen is that the tournament would become an optional - rather than a mandatory - and it would be up the tournament to decide whether to stay with their current draw/prize money schedule or reduce it.

It should remedy the problem of back to back Masters events.

Oh, I hope so. I only live about 2 hours from Cincinnati. I've been to the tournament there before, back when Agassi was wearing day glo biker shorts and a mullet. I'm hoping to go again next year, and I'd love for this to happen so close to home!
