How can players who have never won a GS or Masters tournament be in the top 5?

The points calculations should be changed so that only winners can make the top 5. Maybe the points for a win should be double than that for a finalist unlike now.

What else should be changed about the points system?

Make every tournament result they play in count, but it won't matter when RR takes over the world.

I think the real question is when you will stop posting shit and stop trolling? The answer to both questions is no.

How is this trolling? I am suggesting the points system be changed becuase it does not reward the winners of tournaments as much as it should.

first off, it rewards winners just as much as it should. At slams, the champ gets 1000 points, and a semifinalist gets 450. quite a big reward for winning compared just to having a good run.

second, everything you post is criticizing someone or something. that is called trolling my friend :wavey:

So if you win one GS or Masters and nothing else you get to be in the Top 5? I agree that a better way is to make every tournament count, not just your top 16.

Still got to do well in the Slams or the TMS events. It's like Davydenko PMK he hasn't got to the top 10 cause he hasn't done well in the Slams, a SF and 2 QFs at 3 Slams are very good results, there is only so far optionals can take a player in the rankings.

What else should be changed about the points system?players ranked high enough to be in TMS/Slam should not get a zero pointer when they miss one of those events, should be able to replace it with a 6th best or 7th best result.

by that rule Roberto Carretero coulda been top5 in 1996. :p
chris woodruff in 1997.

What else should be changed about the points system?

the system should be thrown out and the rankings will be determined by a magic 8-ball, and the point awards would only reflect REAL wins against REAL players

Vamos Carretero or Albert Portas in 2001 that would have been a seeded player that people would have begged to play.

Maybe becuase the only people that won the masters and the slams are 1 and 2(at least for the most part)!

But honestly, Do we just get rid of 3-5 cause they haven't won anything.

This is not a thread to be taken too seriously.

I honestly think the current ranking system is fine the way it is.

players ranked high enough to be in TMS/Slam should not get a zero pointer when they miss one of those events, should be able to replace it with a 6th best or 7th best result.

Zero points at master events ancourages all top players to play them. If they can obtain points elsewhere they will start avoiding master series to accumulate points at easier events. Also some single surface players may try to accumulate nearly all their points on one surface. The current system is heavily weighted in favour of multi-surface (hard, clay, grass and carpet) players which makes sense.

Thats a good idea but I wonder why the ATP does not employ it. They must think its stupid and don't want to look stupid by suggesting it:wavey:
