Who's the most likable tennis player of all time?

I'm not asking for your favorite tennis player. My favorite is Andre Agassi and he's spent a lot of the beginning of his career being QUITE unlikable.

I voted "other" for Verdasco. I've been following tennis for quite some time now and met a lot of the players at different tournaments. I think that Verdasco is one of the most kindhearted players I ever met. Always takes his time to talk to the fans, never runs away from signing autographs or having his photo taken. (At least I never saw him do so  )

Followed by Moya, Rafter, Edberg & Nyborg :)

For me it is a real toss-up: Guga and Stefan...while Guga brought an infectuous joy to the court, Stefan was the epitomy of class at every level...the sportsmanship award is named after him!!!!

Stefan Edberg was the classiest, most humble player in modern tennis history...So, I have to go with him...even though my favorite players of all time are Lendl, Guga, Andre, and Rafa...

The player I like most on that list is Stefan Edberg, but I think just for general likeabiltiy it comes down to Pat Rafter and Guga. That was a tough choice, but I chose Guga because of his easy smile and wonderful way with fans, ... the drawing of the heart on the court at Roland Garros to thank the fans... etc. I think he is something special in that regard.

If ever there is one quality that Fed has that other players don't have, it would be Fed's PR - his ability to reach out to fellow players. Forget his ability to speak in three languages - but this also added some more to his whole persona (he could "relate" to Tommy in German, Richard in French, and James or Andy in straightforward English - something that other players could not - no offense to Rafa and others.) At the awarding ceremony at AO 2007 for instance, it was heartwarming to see Fed come up to Gonzo during the lull. This speaks volume already of Fed.

You are pretty right about that. I rather express my appreciation for people than contempt. I'm a positive person, and even if certain players show 'negative behaviour', I'll be more likely to search for an excuse than bash them for that. :D

I don't think Federer behaves that bad... Sure Guga has his terrific charm and you'll never take it off from him, but however, Roger deserves to be at least among the top5 of this poll in my sense!
I guess it would have been also intersting to probe out who's people's top5 or top3. Cause the trouble here is that you have only one possiblity to vote, whereas if you could vote for 5 or 3 champs in the order of your preferences, the final result might look totally different and I guess Guga would be #1!

Cant believe Federer leads :help:

And I can't understand the intolerance of people on MTF sometimes. Just because you don't agree with the opinion of others it isn't necessary to question the opinion of these people.

Guga obviously. Always smiling, always so humble. Just an all round great person. He should be winning this poll easily imho!
